This is a terrific puzzle game in the Return of the Obra Dinn mold. Like in Obra Dinn, you're presented with baffling scenes and need to determine what happened with a small number of details found in the scene. These clues take the form of words which you slot into a paragraphs to complete the (truly insane) story. Like Obra Dinn, every time you solve a puzzle, you discover something new about the story. But it's a little more of a detective story, as all of these tableaus are traditional murder mysteries, albeit strung into a surprisingly dramatic storyline. It's also incredibly varied, with at least one new mechanic added in every single puzzle. There are relatively few chapters, but the puzzles grow increasingly elaborate and challenging; the last one probably took me as long as the first three combined. The story here is very elaborate and goes some crazy places; it's filled with colourful characters and has some great twists. But it's short and has massive gaps in time; I would have liked some more details filled in, or at least a slightly longer denouement. The ending is a bit anticlimactic. But regardless, I thought this was delightful.

Quirky and charming deduction puzzle game that doesn't overstay its welcome or add unnecessary fluff. Seems like it might be too simple at first but the designers do a great job with the difficulty curve and pacing of the story to keep you at "peak puzzler".

You'll start off confused at the beginning of each chapter and come away satisfied to solve it. The last chapter also does a great job of rewarding you for solving the previous chapters.
