this is a wonderful mix of the best parts of both, with a nice helping of some major QoL features, thrown together with a decent story and memorable characters.

If you’re itching for another strategy rpg, this would be an alright pick.

Gameplay wise, I like the idea of upgrading units with certain materials and making squads customizable with different units.

But I care more about the story than gameplay.

It’s very by the numbers but I hope the scenes between characters would make up for it. There are very sparse between chapters and when it comes to certain pairings/characters. The bond of a few couples doesn’t make sense! Sybil and Barnabas or Lysander and Edelia, I barely remember any of them having a scene together before the bond scene! Looked at the archive, maybe 1? That's it.

Story and relationships, I don’t think the devs put too much emphasis or focus on. I get it, they are not gonna write a novel. But like, if one of them dies in story, will I really care? I would care if I lost a unit.

Besides that, I still think it’s a solid game for what it is. Get it on sale. I read that there are multiple endings but I don't know the triggers for it. Maybe if I try different bonds? But I'm satisfied with the ending/epilogue that I got.
