If you love point and click game, Blade Runner movies plus cyberpunk vibe, this is the right one specially made for you.

The gameplay is quite easy and can be so chillaxin'. The pixels' graphics and retro-ish sounds make the city and its environments feels so realistically vibrant and alive.

But most of all, the story is one of the well-written around that is so rare and enjoyable to follow from start to the end.

VirtuaVerse is a decent entry in the Cyberpunk genre.
If you have seen the "Perturbator - Sentient" music video, you will recognize the art style made by the same pixel artist Valenberg.

Valenberg's pixel art and animations are detailed and charming.
The music and writing are excellent as well.
VirtuaVerse asks the usual Cyberpunk questions of transcending humanity and abuse of technology.

For a point & click, VirtuaVerse is nothing new or outstanding. Overall a pretty intuitive and enjoyable experience.
Except the backtracking and moon logic elements plaguing the genre.

Backtracking is a staple of the genre and can be somewhat forgiven, except when you are forced to jump back and forth long distances between locations just to trigger a single dialogue option.
(Lucky if you even manage to figure it out on your own)


Justified and Righteous RANT incoming:
Some puzzles were too silly, I hate mindless moon logic. The worst was the ridiculous over-the-top Rune puzzle !
After going through 2 entire zones full of riddles (hours of gameplay!!),
you naturally forget some fleeting symbols on a video you watched only once 2-4 hours AGO!
First of all, you don't know the significance of these runes to even write them down.
Also the video is full of moving pictures and other nonsense, once again,
why should the player pay attention to THESE symbols in particular, at THAT time?
After HOURS of gameplay, going through 2 large zones, the 3rd zone asks you for SOME Runes?!?
It is a miracle if you even remember seeing the symbols on that video.
There are no hints, you can't ask the characters in-game, your inventory items aren't helping either.
How and why would you think of going back and re-watching the video that has ALREADY served its purpose.
Also the symbols are so fast to disappear that you might have missed them the first time.
How would you know where to even look?!?!??!?!
Is the game expecting the player to cheat and look up a guide? Because that's what I did !!!
Sense of accomplishment GONE. Even if I figured it SOMEHOW on my own, I would not be elated or feel smart,
I would be frustrated at the silly game design.
And you know what is the WORST!?!
Once the riddle is solved and you can finally talk to the new NPC, there is a dialogue option where they discuss the idiocy of that last riddle!
So the devs knew it was trash! Acknowledging the bad game design does not make it good!
Don't put it in the game in the first place!!
What an amateur game design mistake. How conceited are the developers?!?


That Rune riddle alone was almost enough for me to drop the game and become biased.
But I managed to stay open-minded and judge it as a whole:
Decent (enough) product.

I saw this game advertised on Nightride.FM.
If you played point and click adventures and enjoyed it, you'll enjoy this. Its the perfect merge of old games like Leisure Larry and Maniac Mansion in a cyberpunk world. Your character is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but not without a weird charm.
Its really neat to see a difficulty setting, mostly achieved by shortening steps on a puzzle on lower difficulties.
The music is superb, a lovely retro-synth soundtrack.

Story has a good take on how AR could be implemented into the real world, phenomenal world building with deep net ghosts, city life vs outer city life. business world, music scene. All the tropes are there.
