Voracidous is definitely the hardest raid boss at op8.
You need to have a solid understanding of the boss fight to solo him. Use this guide to help you.

Does he drop anything good? Yes.
Upon defeating Voracidous, you are likely rewarded with the interfacer (Best shotgun in the game) or Hawkeye.
Stage 1) This is the stage where Chief Ngwatu is still alive. This is definitely, the easier stage of the battle as Voracidous will not be in rage. While Chief Ngwatu is alive, he will transfer his shield to Voracidous. It is important to keep the Cheif alive while the shield is on Voracidous. The goal is to keep Chief Ngwatu alive as long as possible. Additionally, you want to eliminate the Cheif while he has the shield on.
Stage 2) This is the stage where Chief Ngwatu has died. At this time, Voracidous will become rabid and he will go in rage form. When Voracidous is in rage, he moves extremely fast which makes survival quite difficult. This stage of the boss fight cannot be avoided. When Vorac's health drops to a fairly small amount, he will get the shield from the Chief. Therefore, it is best to delay this stage of the boss fight as long as possible. Your goal is to prevent Vorac from getting the shield. Therefore, shoot the chief with the Trespasser when he has the shield.

As with any other boss fight, it is extremely important to have the proper gear to attempt this boss fight.
The Required gear for almost all classes
-1) Trespasser (Ideally: Tumtum prefix) for the Chief
Note: You want to eleminate the Cheif when he has the shield on
-2) Grog Nozzle
-3) Alkaline bee (the alkaline part is essential to protect against the damage over time Voracidous places on you. Additionally, the amp damage from the bee shield allows you to do extra damage with weapons like the sandhawk and the Trespasser
Recommended gear (This depends more on your class):
-The Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold (This is for the Gunzerker. However, good for all classes)
-The Rapier (This is for Melee zero or Melee Krieg)
-Fire sandhawk. This is great on maya especially when paired with the bee shield. The bee shield will give a massive amp damage to the sandhawk
-Fire Norfleet(s). This is great for second winds in case if you do go down. Additionally, if you have more than more Norfleet, you do not have to worry about reloading your rocket launcher as often
-Alkaline Aequitas. This shield adds 10% duration to fight for your life per every player who has Aequitas equipped. A longer fight for your life duration could increase the chance on the second wind.
-Sham shield (This is essential for Gaige) The sham shield will allow you to absorb your rocket ammo as the capacity for rocket ammunition is very limited. However, the sham shield will not protect against the corrosive damage over time caused by Vorac's attacks.
-Fire bone of the ancients for bonus fire damage and cool down rate
-Refill Fire Avenger: This weapon is great on Axton. When thrown, the avenger constantly fires projectiles at a certain distance. Every one of the projectiles receives amp damage from the bee shield. Additionally, when you are holding the avenger (as the current weapon), you regenerate SMG ammo.
-Alkaline hide of Terramorphous (For melee Zero and Krieg). This shield has a high roid damage that will make your melee attacks much more powerful when combined with the rapier. Krieg's bloodsplosion works very well with this shield.
-Storm Front or lightning bolt (for getting your health back with any moxxi weapon). It is better not to use chain lightning. Chain lightning can actually do too much damage to the Chief.

Voracidous is the hardest boss. Therefore, not every attempt will be a success. Yet, with practise, he can be defeated more often.
3 main attacks to watch out for:
-1) The Nova attacks: These attacks deplete your shield
-2) The melee attacks: As soon as Vorac jumps at you, move away from him to prevent multiple melee attacks.

-3) The corrosive acid balls: These needed to be avoided because they explode shortly after landing. They can easily put you into ffyl.

Be on the look out for specific class mods that can make a huge difference in the battle itself:
-Maya: unyielding banshee (+6 to immolate)
-Axton: Unstoppable Pointman or Legendary Pointman with bonuses to Grit and Last Ditch Effort
-Salvador: Monk class (+6 to money shot)
-Gaige: Legendary anarchist or slayer of Terramorphous (for 600 stacks of anarchy)
