Some things to try: Ensure Halo CE Multiplayer is installed, set game visuals and audio to Classic in the mission select screen, lower video settings to their minimum values, disable any GPU overclock, verify files in Steam and/or reinstall the game.
If none of these work you can try downloading the .map file off NexusMods here: https://www.nexusmods.com/halothemasterchiefcollection/mods/1988
Head to steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection\halo1\maps and replace b30.map. Then load up the level in the vanilla campaign menu.
Though I'm not sure if that's something you can really fix... and I couldn't reliably recreate it, as me and the friend who played made VERY sure not to die too quickly in the successive playthrough, and it didn't happen again.
Still an amazing mod, though. 10/10
Did all this still infinite loading screen
Ensure Halo CE Multiplayer is installed, not having it installed is the most common cause of infinite loading screens,
This sounds more like a generic MCC crash, I've found it has a high chance to crash when pausing, more so when playing modded content.
