This pack combines all of my campaign change mods together. You can either subscribe to this collection, or each pack individually to customise what you're getting. Mainly this is just here so you can see everything easily.

Spire's Reduced Army Losses Penalty

Battles in TWW3 end quite quickly because once one side loses enough units, it triggers a mechanic called "army losses" that forces them to instantly lose. I personally think this happens too early, hence this mod.

This mechanic also has an unintended game-breaking effect: when an enemy AI is attacking your settlements with a two-stack or more, the game triggers army losses FAR too early. Often the AI will automatically be defeated after losing only half of their units or less. This makes siege battles against the AI trivial at all difficulties.

This mod makes it so army losses triggers later in a battle. This means battles last longer (but not excessively so), and comebacks are more achievable. It also means the AI is not disadvantaged when attacking you with multiple stacks in a siege battle.

Use this mod if you want battles to last a little longer and have more chance for comebacks, and if you want the AI to actually pose a threat to your walled settlements when they attack with multiple stacks.

Changes
  • Army losses penalty now triggers when the balance of power is at 92% for the winning faction (unmodded: 72%)
    • This means the loser must be more thoroughly beaten before the penalty kicks in, enabling comebacks
    • This also means that the AI is much more dangerous when sieging you with multiple stacks of units
  • The army losses penalty is now -35 leadership instead of -100
    • This usually doesn't change much, but it does mean high-leadership units must be damaged a bit before they route from the penalty
    • Thematically this means you can pull out a clutch victory with a high-health high-leadership chad unit

Spire's Better Autoresolve

TWW3 has a game-breaking issue with its auto-resolve. When you autoresolve a battle, there is a 99% chance that the losing army will be WIPED OUT completely, regardless of the balance of power.

This is game breaking because when you fight a battle manually, generally most units survive the battle and the losing army retreats instead of being destroyed.

This means the autoresolve removes a fundamental part of the game - retreating - which completely changes how the campaign is played. Frankly I am astounded that this bug has remained unfixed since game 2.

This mod fixes it.

Changes
  • When an army is defeated in autoresolve, it is now no longer wiped out
    • Instead, it survives with a few units and retreats, just like a normal battle
    • Armies that have already retreated this turn will be wiped out, like normal
  • Units are generally less likely to be killed in autoresolve (no more suicidal artillery pieces)

Spire's AI Leadership Buff

This mod makes battles against the AI harder by giving the AI a flat +10 leadership bonus, and giving the player a flat -5 leadership penalty. This is generally just a small buff to account for the AI not being very good at things like cycle charging, and to offset the player being able to stack leadership buffs intelligently.

This overrides the leadership changes that difficulties provide in the base game.

  • AI gains a +10 leadership buff for all units
  • Player gains a -5 leadership penalty for all units

Spire's AI Upkeep Reduction
Game not hard enough? This mod gives the AI (and only the AI) a 15% upkeep cost reduction, meaning they field more armies.
