Description
"Do you remember my last missive? I wrote of unimaginable horrors and towering monstrosities. It would seem that despite the blood you've shed and the terrors you've extirpated, the land is hell-bent on churning forth the foulest of foes. A new shadow falls over our Hamlet, cast by unearthly titans and abhorrent behemoths. And all we can do is cower in the abyssal gloom they cast, for here be monsters." - Note from your Ancestor

Here Be Monsters is a series of mods that adds new challenging enemies to Darkest Dungeon. The New Shadow is an expansion of the original full release, adding twelve new monsters to the game. These are endgame content, including an all regions miniboss and Veteran and Champion level enemies. Like the original release, each enemy included in the mod includes at least one rare trinket that they may leave on death, with minibosses having more.

Note: This mod is compatible with all other mods, and needs no specific load order. It does however require every DLC to function properly, as well as the full release of Here Be Monsters, found here:

  • One new Champion enemy for each region: the Shunned House, the Lethal Whelk, the Swine Mangler and the Profaned Chimera!

@ravenz you might want to check your load order. The changeling for me inflicts heavy blight or stress on 2 characters at once and is usually my priority for taking out.

I played this mod back when it was just released and i still have the same problem as others - Dwimmerlaik, worst thing in an apprentice dungeon, i didnt bring any backshooters(bomber my man) and i encountered this thing, because he has 2 actions he can damage my team AND heal almost every time, and its not a small heal its 15+ all the time, most of the time i cant hit him since he also shuffles at the end of action(mostly goes to rank 4) and my team can hit him up to rank 3, yet he always goes to rank 4, i was as close as 6 hp to kill him but he got away and healed for half hp (also why so much hp even on app dungeon???), i could not bear this boring af fight so i abandoned the quest(he blocked my 90% room check).
I really dont want to disable this mod cuz there are some other enemies i never saw, but this is the reality - if it says dwimmerlaik here then dont go

does the dwimmerlaik have any unique trinkets or does it just give only rare trinkets?

im having the same problem, when entering the dungeon while the dwimmerlaik roaming it just crash my game and its a shame that i have to start a new world because of that, hopefully a patch for it comes soon

having problems trying to load into necromancer mission and i narrowed it down from this mod. Wondering how to get rid of the dwimmerlaik roaming spawn so i can remove this mod

Hello! I've encountered an infinite loop where the Dwimmerlaik uses reconstruction infinitely while in the back line. Of course I can just runaway but I wanted to let you know

is gore-spattered nails working as intended?

-%25 healing vs bleeding allies is nothing when the base stat is +%40. Shouldn't %40 bonus be negated against bleeding target?

I love this mod and the new challenges, but - the Mask of Frenzy from the new cultist is busted - the +20 dmg and +10 ACC is too big for the +10 stress if missing, because by the time you miss with the charakter, the fight is usually over and the stacking of buff to DMG is so ridiculous... Everytime i equip it on my HMW he destroys the enemy party in no time.
Besides that - everything is perfect and pretty much balanced :D
