The ship is too powerful, it comes way too early (before nuclear fission is even researched) and it uses the same ship model as the WW2 aircraft carrier. - Quite a disappointment.

So does this one also make it impossible to build carriers if you have no uranium? Cause upgrading carriers to super carriers causes the problem of not being able to build regular carriers any more

How about a submersible aircraft carrier. The Japanese build a supersub in 1945, the I-400 which could launch 4 seaplane bombers. I always thought this was brilliant. It would be a cool UU for the Japanese and a modern version for others later in the game.

The mod is really great. Maybe a bit too op but this is ok :). But it would be nice if the carrier had it's own graphics. (Maybe you ask =ICE= Lt. Fairace for the graphics of his carrier mod)

This mod doesnt seem to want to install for me as steam is being a douch. Have you got a link to a file that I can manually download and put into the mods file myself? I would appreciate it as this mod seems great.

I like the idea of this mod a lot, but I'd like to tone it down a bit. Thanks for the instructions on how to do that. I made mine a little cheaper and weaker, but I don't see where to change the fighter capacity from 14 down to say 10. Any help?

I understand no stealth bombers cause the original carrier couldnt, but come on! whats the point in a carrier if you cant put bombers on it?!

Can you make it bigger? it looks just like the other one, i dont know how hard it is to make a skin but it would be really cool to make it look like the pic. Great mod BTW.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to comment that I've been using this mod in vanilla games with tons of other mods (over 20 of them on the average) and haven't run into any problems yet.

One oddity is that even though I build this carrier in a city with lots of "XP" adding buildings, the carrier itself doesn't get access to any promotions when it finishes building. Weird. This is hardly an issue except that I would like to get the "extra move" promotion. Maybe this will be fixed in the update. I haven't tried it yet.

And here's a dirty trick for you to spring on AI nations when you are playing on high difficulty levels. Use the "Bombers on Carriers" mod with this one (works great in vanilla.) Build two carriers. Load one with bombers and the other with fighters (or mix evenly on each carrier.) Add two battleships and six destroyers for escort. Later on, replace two to four of the destroyers with missile cruisers. The AI is unable to deal with this. You can bomb his coastal cities (and further inland once you get a beachhead) with impunity while your fighters intercept any attempts on the AI's part to bomb you. The escort ships insure that no enemy submarines can get close enough to torpedo your carriers. Combine this with the Great Lighthouse to really stick it to your AI opponents. Once you get access to stealth bombers, it's pretty much game over for your opponents.

Hey swatmp5 just a suggestion for a mod in some of the early civ games you could make a air feild with workers. Wich then you could land about 3 air units on the airfeild at one time. So if you could make a mod implamenting that in again that would be awsome.

Works with BNW slightly, but if you build one, save, exit and load the game again later the supercarrier glitches and all the planes aboard it vanish and the icon is stuck in place but the carrier can still move. The icon will also still be there after you delete the carrier.

Any chance of a land version? I've always wanted to make forward air bases as most planes can't reach distant enemy lands and setting up forward bases requires founding a whole new city, meaning my forces are without air support.

@Gosu Saotome, mods do actually work for mac. Theres a process of making it work but once you modify some files for the game it works fine. All you do is compress the file and such and install it on the mods folder. I'll copy paste the link for you.

@swatmp5, for the most part the a/c carrier's "fighters" are dual-roled as either fighters and/or bombers depending upon their weapons load-out. Power projection ashore [i.e. bombing stuff like enemy cities] is a primary "fighter" mission along with roles as CAP for battle group air defense. The USMC's Harriers provide much of the CAS for the Corps' ground troops. Things like wing spread, inability to fold those wings and insufficiently robust landing gear to absorb brutal carrier landings are the principal reasons the Air Force bomber types cannot be used on an a/c carrier. The Doolittle Raid USAF bombers, while they took off from the CV OK, could not have come back to land on the Hornet.

In my opinion carriers need more speed. Almost all past and present carriers have been some of the fasest ships in the NAVY but in the game they are some of the slowest.

dude all of the Mods on here that said doesnt work on Mac,I have download them and they do work on Macs, Im talking about 100 Mods atleast, I dont know if people dont test them or they just go by what they hear

Well first of all. I changed the name from aluevano79 to this now. And it does work on mac it's just you need to do some steps on the civilizationfantics forum.

@ Xerxes: Navy here as well, and as far as I've seen(I'm Canadian Navy so I've only ever been part of the Carrier escort) Carriers generally have 1 Destroyers, and 2-4 Frigates as well as a sub running with them. Drop one of your subs, one should be addequate, and plop in another destroyer or two (since they play the frigate role in this game) and should be unstoppable.

Being in the navy, I completly agree with TxOutLaw. IRL a Carrier is never without multiple screening ships/subs. Wouldn't expect anything less from this game.

In defense of the carrier needed more strength I must say that in past and present carriers were and are used to project a countries air power over large area's away from home ports. Other than that carriers serve no other warfare purpose. There fore that is where destroyer's and cruisers come into play. Their job is to screen capital ships. Therefore the enemy has to get by the screening ships to get to the capital ship. So if your having probs then maybe you need more screening ships. Just my opinion.

carrier should have better combat strength, or at least a multiplyer that reduces damage from other ships. other than that, it makes fighters usefull.

Don't you think it's not strong enough? 50 combat strength could get blown up in one sub attack if you aren't careful - and even if you are, if the AI decides to specifically target the carrier, it's going down. Along with 14 fighters. I would like this a whole lot more if you could put stealth bombers on it, but it's still a decent mod for sure.
