Until he fixes it, I did the best I could and believe I got it to work pretty well. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2451998709

I have just fixed this planet. Will be posting soon. Will remove mod if creator wants me to. Thank you for making this. I can see how hard you worked on it and have always loved using this in my games. Will leave full credits in description.

ortholeum you are right! It seems I probably got confused with kg/m3 ratio to Earth or something like that, can't even remember... Anyway, does anyone else have a problem when mining ore would spawn like 2-3 meters away from you? Only happens on Real Mars. Like if you mine rocks, ore would spawn in "predefined" same spot, away from you. Same goes for mining ground, although it would spawn in a bit different, more randomised location, but still like 3 meters away from where you mine. Mining on other planets is as usual. Any ideas?

I don't know if the creator is updating this anymore but the atmosphere appears to be bugged still since the last update.
LordZarmack 15 Apr, 2020 @ 2:21am
I can double confirm that
Doctor Verum 27 Mar, 2020 @ 1:02am
This does somehow also solve the past issue of Mars looking blue from a distance.
Doctor Verum 27 Mar, 2020 @ 1:01am
For some reason the atmosphere now shows up as being oddly dark depending on how close to the planet you are with some areas appearing lighter. Looks like the game is rendering an atmospheric layer that shouldn't be there. Think this could be the latest game update?
mazrados 15 Mar, 2020 @ 1:03pm
@Kasolin I just noticed the same. Gravity is 0.9 so this Mars is not from mod.

Actually how this mod can be used? Possible to use it in solar system start?
ortholeum 29 Feb, 2020 @ 4:23pm
Actually Mars is 1%, not 10%. This is the problem of landing as slowing down must be done via thrust not air resistance.
Selphadur 17 Feb, 2020 @ 6:32pm
Mars has atmospheric density of around 10% of Earth, not 1%. Otherwise nice mod!

@Lachdenan the great canyon is definitely there, been using this map for a while now and have had many bases on the canyon edge, even scaled down Olympus Mons is huge, to get to spot the canyon go into orbit above and fly around, then go back down, otherwise its lots and lots of driving (if at 120km!)

Why can't I reach the planet after spawning it? Seems to happens to a lot of planets even if I restart in survival
Hate Bear 13 Aug, 2019 @ 7:26pm
To the mod author, you could make a separate copy and label this one as (old). It's what I do with Stationeers worlds, so you don't have to break anyone's saves, but they know to update. Unrelated, but I couldn't find the giant canyon (Valles Marineres, I think) or see the ice caps on this one. Maybe I was just lazy...

Hey mate. Really like this mod, but for some reason Mars' atmosphere is blue for me. Makes it look very wrong from a distance.

@Kasolin: Due to the difference in surface height, this planet wouldn't work as a drop-in replacer, since e.g. the stations in the starts wouldn't line up with the terrain level anymore. In theory, one could add local changes to make the ground level below these stations identical to stock mars, but this would look really jarring, since the relief of this planet and of stock mars have nothing in common.
Kasolin 30 Dec, 2018 @ 3:08am
I just realized from the normal version of this mod that this almost certanly doesnt replace the Mars that spawns in the solar system start so nevermind my previous question.
Kasolin 30 Dec, 2018 @ 3:02am
Does this replace mars in the Solar System start? Thanks
Nonexistent 21 Dec, 2018 @ 7:34pm
@Xilthis what is the reccomended size?
Vas 29 Jul, 2018 @ 1:22pm
Yea, I encountered something like this myself, I'm not sure why it happened when I tried this.
Xilthis  [author] 29 Jul, 2018 @ 12:51pm
@Ichbinderhund: That's weird.
The mod doesn't map any textures itself, and all it does regarding geometry is define the height of the surface.
Which materials are where, how they look, etc. is then "painted" onto the existing surface (or at a certain depth below).

From the perspective of the mod, the planet is entirely two-dimensional.
Turning this into the actual 3D geometry and mapping textures is done automatically by the game.
I cannot think of any way the mod could mess up texture coordinates relative to the physical collision mesh they correspond to.

Maybe something in the game just bugged out?
But I'll load it up to check.
nunlock 27 Jul, 2018 @ 11:54pm
There is an issue with textures not being properly mapped to the solid surface. ie; tried landing my ship on what seemed like a perfectly flat area, hit an invisible mountain, fell through the ground and exploded. This was using vanilla SE using various ships near some of the canyons.
Vas 5 Apr, 2018 @ 4:09pm
Hah, and just after I uploaded and did a bunch of math and upload mine, I find that there's already one uploaded. I wanted to be able to have the large mountain and other physical traits of mars but I'm unable to do that sort of thing it seems. :P
titanius anglesmith 9 Mar, 2018 @ 8:47am
love this mars my fav one. update coming soon ?
CTH2004 5 Mar, 2018 @ 6:14pm
@Xilithis

It would be cool, if there was another version with the platnium, that way, you can have the chalenge! And, people who want less, can use the plat version!
Zóar 18 Sep, 2017 @ 12:06am
Can you make a vanilla Mars replacement for this one? please..
Nikolas March 7 Jun, 2017 @ 11:14pm
i gotta try this at some point :)
Xilthis  [author] 1 Apr, 2017 @ 3:02pm
@system86: In a way, I like the current difficulty, since it favors designs I'd otherwise not use, like mining rovers. But I think it might be a bit too much for most players. Once I find a bit more time, I'll probably sprinkle some plat deposits to crater rims. That way you have to traverse challenging terrain at least a few times to excavate it, but can go ion afterwards.
System1024 30 Mar, 2017 @ 8:16am
Since atmospheric thrusters are useless, and platinum doesn't spawn, hydrogen is the way.
Nice.
Pawprint 26 Mar, 2017 @ 11:04pm
Sounds good. I m doing a survival with Friends on this world, Platinum would be quite useful.
I m glad I was able to help you. And thanks for all the work you have done
Xilthis  [author] 26 Mar, 2017 @ 8:06pm
@Jasper: No, it has the same ore types as stock mars, i.e. Fe, Ni, Si, Co, Ag, Au, Mg and U. But now that you mention it, I probably should have added some Plat, given the low atmosphere.

I might add some in the future if that turns out to be a safe edit. I don't want to break existing savegames, but I don't think there are any issues if I merely change some voxel types.
Pawprint 26 Mar, 2017 @ 8:39am
Does this planet have Platinum?
