To be fair, Eraser kind of does this lol.
Ryou  [author] 30 Jun, 2021 @ 3:48am
Maybe, I've not tested in a long time, this is an old mod.

Rep compatible?

I'll agree with Echoes and Specters. This seems too abusable in its current form. Though, to be fair, Mega Blast is also a 12 charge reusable with an insanely powerful effect. So, perhaps following the example there of batteries having no/reduced effect, and making it a Special item (reduced chance of other Special items appearing for each one encountered) would work. Or, even making it a 24-room charge (having to fill the bar twice), and/or making it not work on certain bosses, like Mega Satan and Hush.
Echoes & Specters 5 Jul, 2017 @ 7:07pm
I'd rather this be a one-time use item before I subscribe. Every level after Basement has at least 12 rechargeable rooms in it- this is a ticket to kill every boss of every stage. Heaven help you if you've got battery items to make the process easier.
jaguarnick 23 Apr, 2017 @ 7:46am
I would have to agree with other comments stating how it would be better as a one time use item, as long as major bosses are immune
Fish 26 Feb, 2017 @ 9:43pm
Yeah i agree with spiral spy. That would make this mod perfect.
Ryou  [author] 26 Feb, 2017 @ 12:16am
@Spiral-Spy Appreciating the feedback, probably going to go with that idea, but I just really don't have the time for mods lately. It'll be quite a while until I get around to fixing this.

I think just having a different passive effect for each boss would be the best, though it'd probably be a nightmare to make. Let me throw ideas at you.

-If used in a room without bosses, gives you a small damage up, like a worse Book of Belial (That way if you for some reason use it outside of boss rooms, it's not entirely useless, but you still want to prioritize using it against bosses)

-If used in a room with bosses, it gives you a stat buff/passive item for that room only that works well against that particular boss. Examples:
--Piercing shot against Duke of Flies
--Flight/bomb immunity against Little Horn
--Halo of Flies/The Soul against It Lives/Hush/Delirium/Mega Satan
--Large Damage up against The Haunt (Even better, make it give you exactly enough damage to one-shot his little haunts)
--Bomb immunity against Mom/Satan
Fish 24 Feb, 2017 @ 11:00pm
This seems a little overpowered. By little i mean alot. Its still a good concept.
Closterdad 22 Feb, 2017 @ 4:30pm
One time use item would improve this greatly.

A no risk Chaos Card. Delirium is invulnerable.
Ryou  [author] 16 Feb, 2017 @ 11:41am
That's something that I'm planning on, but that would mean I'd have to rework the entire thing, and that's a lot of work. So, it'll take time!
Dark Judas 16 Feb, 2017 @ 10:08am
Going off of the complete rework comment, because it's a Strategy Guide, you could make it a passive item and it has a different effect for every boss. Cause, you know, that would fit the theme of what the item is.
Ryou  [author] 16 Feb, 2017 @ 4:54am
Yeah, I have a couple iterations planned for this item, I just don't have the time and energy for it right now. Hard at work to release some other stuff, but I'll definitely get back to this.
Big Scruff 16 Feb, 2017 @ 1:13am
Also if you're interested in a complete re-work of this idea, I'd suggest making it a one use item, with a different effect for each floor, similar to Pandora's Box.
Big Scruff 16 Feb, 2017 @ 1:12am
I think it should start with 0 charges when first picked up.
Dark Judas 13 Feb, 2017 @ 2:04pm
i think, instead of a certain amount of rooms that has to be cleared, it should be a certain number of bosses that has to be beaten before it can be used.
Vojife 7 Feb, 2017 @ 7:43am
Maybe this could be like a D(number). It would just reroll the boss into some other that can appear on that floor.
Vladistad Von Pootistine 24 Jan, 2017 @ 6:30am
maybe an idea is to make it so any enemy in the room will take double damage from you for the rest of the run or something, or it could have a charge bar and only work for the floor.
Ryou  [author] 22 Jan, 2017 @ 4:40am
No, you're right, and it's been my main gripe ever since I came up with the item idea. It's really just a little lazy in design. I'm definitely going to sit down and think about some of the other options I might have, you're absolutely right with the fact that people want to fight bosses, even though sometimes they really just don't want to.

Quick fix idea I have is... what if it's a one time use item that banishes a boss monster from your playthrough? Does Eraser count toward bosses? If not, this may be doing just that.
Soggy Con-Guog 22 Jan, 2017 @ 3:59am
I feel like no matter how rare it is, it will still be too OP, I tihn balancing it in a different way would be better, like maybe it only takes half the bosses HP, or two thirds, the rarity doesnt really effect the fact that it completely removes all skill required to complete the games largest chalenges, meaning that someone could just hold r untill the got this item and then steamroll the game with no skill reqired, and that's not in the spirit of isaac in my opinion.

Again tho, I hope i dont come off as insulting or anything, just interested in helping out, and then again it's only my opnion so maybe im just crazy :P
Soggy Con-Guog 22 Jan, 2017 @ 3:55am
The thing about it being a 12 room charge is that almost every floor has more that 12 rooms that you can get a charge from, meaning that if you play diligently you can kill almost every single boss in the game with no effort, wich completely takes away from a large portion of the game.

If possible you might wanna change it to a 24 or maybe even 36 room charge (god knows if you can even do that (maybe have it only give you a charge on every 2nd or 3rd room?)) either that or make it like a two use item, kinda like having two chaos cards.

Ofc its your mod and you can do what you want with it, I just feel (even if it is really rare) taking away from as large a part of the game as bosses with no skill required by the player isnt really in the spirit of the game, and doesnt nesecarily make the game more 'fun'. Dont take this as an insult though, still a really cool idea for a mod, I just personally feel like it could use some more work on the balancing side of things :)
Trapezoid 19 Jan, 2017 @ 8:29pm
Alright, thanks dude
Ryou  [author] 19 Jan, 2017 @ 4:56pm
Right now it's super rare, well, as rare as super rare is supposed to be, secret items and libraries at the moment. I definitely think it should be one of those items that help you for the rest of the run if you're struggling. But look at it a different way, if you've already picked up Brimstone and are pretty set in general, there's much better items you may want. Sometimes you'd rather want survivability, etc.
Trapezoid 19 Jan, 2017 @ 4:37pm
Sorry, I meant, can it be changed to a one use only? or do you plan on keeping it 12 charges and making it super rare?
Ryou  [author] 19 Jan, 2017 @ 4:15pm
Uh, no, right now it has 12 charges.
Ryou  [author] 19 Jan, 2017 @ 1:29pm
Well, the consensus seems to be 50/50 right now, the item only appears in secret rooms and libraries, so I'd expect the rarity to make up for how powerful it could be. In a perfect world where I have more time on my hands, I could maybe make a unique effect for every boss, but the more realistic option would be to simply implement a chance for it to do absolutely nothing instead of killing the boss, but I'm not sure if that doesn't render the item shit.
ultramarine blues 19 Jan, 2017 @ 8:16am
I guess it's too op. Even the item pool and 12 rooms charge can't fix it.
Wyng 15 Jan, 2017 @ 4:57pm
Absolutely, I love testing out mods!
Ryou  [author] 15 Jan, 2017 @ 4:55pm
Chaos Card got nerfed, if I remember correctly, and doesn't apply on bosses anymore. Murdering Hush in a single hit is pretty hard to balance, but I've made this item a little rarer now, so maybe that'll be good enough already. Keep me posted on how strong you think this item ends up!
Wyng 15 Jan, 2017 @ 2:21pm
I really like this idea! In comparison to something like Glass Canon, you might remove the extra 6 charges and just make an equal downside to using it. For instance, there's already an item like this in Isaac, it's called Plan C. That item deals 9,999,999 damage to everything in the room, then kills Isaac a few seconds later. Also, the item Chaos Card destroys any creature in a single hit, but it's a one time use. Maybe you could just have this be an insane version of Glass Canon by making it so that whenever you use it, all of your bombs, hearts, keys, coins, trinkets and cards are consumed!

Just an idea, dunno if that would make it worse, but I mean come on. Murdering Hush in a single hit is pretty hard to balance. Chaos Card still escapes me.
Khashishi 15 Jan, 2017 @ 1:44pm
Mega blast is a silly item that appears maybe once every 100 games, so its balance is irrelevant. Chaos card is a better comparison.
Ryou  [author] 15 Jan, 2017 @ 9:41am
Yeah, I like the idea of putting it in the library, I don't know why I didn't think of that. Library and secret room, then? I suppose that's fine.
SirUmnei 15 Jan, 2017 @ 8:16am
I think it's balanced as long as it's a rare item. Perhaps a Secret Room item. Just don't make it a Devil/Angel Deal or Boss Item, and it should be balanced enough. Maybe even a Library would be fine.
MurlocAggroB 14 Jan, 2017 @ 5:05pm
I don't get why people are calling this overpowered. It's not as strong as Mega Blast. It's like a Mega Blast for a single room, on the same number of charges. Also, it only has a very specific use, unlike Mega which clears basically the whole floor.

12 room charge is nothing to sneeze at.
Ryou  [author] 14 Jan, 2017 @ 4:43pm
Keep trying it, see how it actually feels ingame. I'll collect more ideas to change this if necessary.
Nazario92 14 Jan, 2017 @ 2:15pm
I haven't played it but I feel like killing the enemy regardless its power is hard to balance. Some options could be: you can add the chance to lose it after use, you can halve opponents' health or something in the middle, like 1/2 chance to lose it and 80% opponents' health removed, still 12 rooms charge I suggest
Ryou  [author] 14 Jan, 2017 @ 1:27pm
T-Thanks.
Erfly 14 Jan, 2017 @ 12:02pm
beautiful sprite by the way.
Ryou  [author] 14 Jan, 2017 @ 11:16am
Thanks for the input, I think overwhelmingly from most sources people said it may be too strong. Whilst I personally don't think it is, I can see why people would feel that way. I've been thinking about ways to balance it, maybe by adding multiple effects that could randomly trigger when using it, much like when you're using a walkthrough or strategy guide it doesn't always work like described in the guide. Maybe a chance to teleport you out of the room, or a chance to actually make the boss harder. Some people may not like the RNG, so I'll see!
Erfly 14 Jan, 2017 @ 10:54am
An interesting way to balance this would be to make it hard to get. Perhaps a rare secret room item, or an expensive shop item (if that's made possible at some point)
DickyBoy 14 Jan, 2017 @ 10:10am
I agree this seems like it should be single use
Ryou  [author] 14 Jan, 2017 @ 9:36am
A single use item like that essentially exists already in Plan C, just that Plan C kills every enemy and also yourself. The idea behind this item was to create a good active item that helps you handle boss fights on runs that are maybe just average. Not every run can be filled with devil deals.
Arkadexus 14 Jan, 2017 @ 9:11am
I would make it single use
Ryou  [author] 14 Jan, 2017 @ 9:04am
Hey, be sure to leave some feedback regarding the balance of this item. My current idea is to make batteries unable to charge the item. I think generally it's fine to have strong items, but I want to know what anyone might be thinking about it.
