Would it be possible to make a patch of this for extended story's more special weapons? I adore this mod, and not having it on some weapons makes me not want to use them.

How do I make it so that the weapons only aim when I attack? It looks weird otherwise.

I'm having a few really odd issues... Specific weapons won't aim while idle, and will only change their idle orient after making an attack. The weapons in question are the Greataxe, Fist, Katana, Mace, Scythe. Also the Quarterstaff, but this one isn't so egregious because it actually resets it's orients to default position and doesn't stay in some arbitrary position. And the only mod I'm using that affects weapons (That I'm aware of...) is FU, and... Well, it already has a patch.

last time i tried playing FU with this it broke the new weaon types that were supposed to be aimable and even the normal ones wouldnt work so probably not

Does this cause any issues with Frackin Universe at all? The wiki calls it incompatible but I keep hearing that its fine.

Weapon Stats is incompatible with Frackin Universe. If you install both, generated guns won't fire. This mod, Melee Aiming, works fine with Frackin Universe.

This game is literally not worth playing without this mod! Makes the beginning much less frustrating and makes downhill battles actually possible. Honestly it makes combat with the starting sword actually fun after a while.

Works in the latest release of the game for me, as of June 2020.

look, if you want to try fix the mod, here's how to do it:
1. open your starbound installation folder and go to the Win32 folder;
2. create a .bat file in that folder with the following: .\asset_unpacker.exe .\packed.pak .\..\UnpackedAssets\ ;
3. find this mod's file and put it in the same folder as the .bat file;
4. rename the mod's file to 'packed';
5. run the .bat file;
6. go back to your starbound installation folder and open the 'UnpackedAssets' folder;
7. from there explore the mod and try to find the cause of your issue.

Does anyone else have the problem where running this mod in steam it works normally, but when running it off of the local .exe file the aiming weapons don't animate accordingly? They attack properly aimed, but the character doesn't move the weapon to follow the cursor.

okay so now this mod is confliciting with other mods and i cannot remove it from my game. LIke i went into the workshop folder and couldnt even delete it there cuz it wasnt there but for some reason shortsweords are still aimable (steam wont let me correct spelling mistakes)

also, the devs of starbound shouldn't even have attempted to touch the files this mod patches, because if the devs have priorities for the game (and any game dev should have them (unless you're YandereDev)). fixing what isn't broken is time wasted that could've been better put to use when making content for an update.

i've just tested the mod by itself and the game did not crash during startup. there really aren't any other melee aiming mods apart from the FU one, which only patches the FU weapons - i wrote inside it's description: "NOTE: This mod doesn't contain the original mod itself. This is a standalone mod, yet I highly encourage you get the original one aswell unless you want to be unable to aim broadswords and hammers.". if you don't want to believe me, go trough the task of unpacking the mod and looking trough the files. you'll see that i'd be semi-correct, since there are some patches for secondary abilities, but those are really small and only add 1 thing, which shouldn't have any impact on the game.

i think i should've said this sooner, but all the mod does is patch these things to have the items rotate: the Ixodoom Claw, the Firestorm's Fury, the Hammer Smash weapon ability, the Broadsword Combo weapon ability and the Protector's Broadsword. removing this mod should remove all of the changes this mod does, since it would be impractical for the game to save all of the moves of a weapon to the character or world. that's why the mod patches the weapon abilities and not every single weapon one by one. also, some weapons are SUPPOSED to be aimable BY DEFAULT, like shortswords, daggers, axes and spears to name a few. that's why the mod doesn't patch the items or their combos. also, i believe this weapon shouldn't cause any issue when the game's starting, as the mod only does patches. so unless there were changes to how patching works, the mod should be acting like it did 2 years ago - working with no issues what so ever.

if you dont mind wiping your files and reinstalling the game should help. just make sure to save a backup of your characters
