I recently came across this mod, Controlled Difficulty
http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=738484519
It does everything Imaginary Friends did and more using a custom game mode; it's not whitelisted, but it doesnt seem like TWI wants to whitelist much this time around.
Enjoy!
I took another look at this shortly after the game launched. Starting with the SWAT beta TI blocked the functionality I was using to add ghost members to the party. I tried to work around it in several ways, but nothing seemed to stick. It may be possible to accomplish this with a gametype instead of a mutator, but I doubt such a thing will ever be whitelisted. It's likely I will take another look at this in the future, as time and interest allows.
I wouldn't bank on TI ever whitelisting something like this anyway, but who knows. Thanks!
Since level-up is more harder and provide less bonus per level, and there's no efficient maps for farming like in KF1,this mutator plus the SuperTrainingPerkDeluxe could be a good way to farm and level-up faster them just playing STPD.
Also could it be used for exp abuse? I've tried Controlled Difficulty mod and game dont count earned levels.
I don't know yet, waiting for release to do more investigation :)
It's definitely more complicated than a quick fix. It seems TWI has either changed the way they calculate the zed numbers per person per wave, or changed how pcs are accounted for, or they blocked something intentionally. All I know for sure is the value I was tweaking to pad the party number's is no longer having an impact on zed numbers.
It is going to take some effort to fix, and might require a re-write of the mod entirely. It might also no longer be possible to achieve this with a mutator, we'll have to see. In any case, I will investigate as I have time but I'd rather wait for release to avoid this happening again.
Thanks for your support everyone, I'll be sure to update as I get more info.
I'm working on it now, I will try to update with more info if the problem is more complicated than a simple change on TWI's part.
Nah I'm running solo. I've always loved this type of mod cuz it makes solo fun. I'm not sure what it could be that broke, but things just generally break with updates, 'tis the way she goes. There was actually another FakedPlayers mod around when KF2 first released, but eventually that one broke after updates. It's a result of the update, but I'm not sure how or what.
Thanks for the update, it sounds like something is broken. Are you running a dedicated server? If so, can you see if the mod generates any errors in the server's window after you connect to a map running the mod?
Great idea, but I'm not sure how to do that? It might be up to the community to add the tags. I can't subscribe to the mod since it will interfere with my development copy, so I don't think I can add it. If you know how as an item's owner please let me know!
This mod does not add bots, it increases the virtual party size in order to up the per-wave zed count. please read the description for full details and instructions.
I dont see any
Thanks Cereal!
@Max, Zan
I will look into what is happening when i have some time to spare. All I can figure is that seperate values other than the ones im referencing / modifying are being used to determien zed health. This might happen within functionality I can't access / modify as a mutator, but I'll see what I can do.
https://www.twitch.tv/zanasob/v/70454936?t=55m50s I'm about to take on a Scrake that has taken minimal damage at this point, his brother near the start of the round seemed to go down much quicker than he should, but when this guy went down so fast there was no mistaking it.
Can you verify that with data? I'm not challenging, I'd just like to know definitively myself. This mutator doesnt manually increase the spawn numbers, it literally forces the game to acknowledge players that don't exist. It's possible that this is bypassing some sort of mechanism, but zed spawn and difficulty should be re-cacluated before every wave. Unfortuantely I would need to make this a game mode instead of a mutator to start tweaking zed health and damage.
Are you also sure you are playing on the difficulty you intended? Its a little tricky doing it from the command line.
