@Blue64 I have the same problem
Blue64 4. Apr. 2022 um 12:32
Am I the only one who hasn't found a single Discharged Power Cell in months? I can build them, I can build Rechargeable Batteries, I can build Disposable Batteries, but I just get Scrap in return.
Blue64 4. Apr. 2022 um 12:29
@Jo you don't use Silver in a NiCa or Lead Acid Battery, which is what these batteries are: Nickle Cadmium Acid Batteries.
lil_kahann 17. Apr. 2019 um 18:56
Just a heads up if it hasnt been stated before. since the survival update, the 'small battery' does not give back power cells.

Hi Phoenix, I am currently putting together a server which has many new resources based on the Gens materials and components mod and as such the recipes for all blocks will be incorporating these new resources . I am asking if it is ok for me to tweak the recipe of the mod to make a server specific version? ... I will make it so it will only work on my server and point everyone back here if they would like to use it including your thumbnail etc ....

The idea for the mod is good, but it clogs the ship's grinders for some reason, so they don't collect anything else when full. If you won't fix it, then I don't see a way arround of using this. I'll just stick with the vanilla scrap mechanic (even though it should have been silver, or silver ore, not scrap). But it's preferable than clogged grinders.
Whip Vendetta 18. Nov. 2017 um 17:50
that sounds amasing i want to see it done!!!
Brainfart 7. Sep. 2017 um 8:28
Phoenix, are you still into modding? I recently had a new idea on batteries: Splitting them into rechargeable, starting with no charge, and non rechargeable, starting with full charge. The rechargeables behave just like the vanilla ones pre 1.04 but without initial charge and replace them. The new non rechargeables have a different component which disappears when the battery looses charge, so that the amount of components is equal to the charge and you can always recharge it manualy by welding it with the components in your backpack. The battery itself counts how many cells it consumed and gives them back, when welded. The returned discharged cells can be processed by the refinery, like scrap metal and return less, than the cells originally cost.
Maybe you could even recharge your suit energy, like bottles recharge your gases, when low.

What do you think of this?

Good news, everyone! For those who can't wait till cosmetics little thing be fixed you can use this mod instead: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1121149819 . Mods are completely interchangeable. You will be able to switch to original mod as soon as it is fixed.
Marc Cassin 1. Sep. 2017 um 4:33
Like Slye_Fox, the icon need an update, beside non-matching the original, the white frame on the border make difficult to read how much we've got in inventory.

But beside this cosmetic little thing, it's a good mod :)
Couch 22. Juni 2017 um 14:57
Update: Moving the mod to the very top of the load order solved my problem.
Slye_Fox 11. Juni 2017 um 2:41
The icon needs updating to match the new default ones.
Taurec 27. Mai 2017 um 23:44
Check the loadorder. For me, the mod runs fine, the mod is on the end from load order.
@Phoenix:
Is it possible, to remove the thick white edge on the symbol? Its not possible to read the numbers. :)
Shoku 'Jetwash' Silverfall 15. Apr. 2017 um 18:33
I had Space Couch and Ravenjrake's issue and found it was load order. Make sure this mod is at the TOP of your load order and it should work again.

In specific, settings I believe to be in Stuck on Mars were changing the behavior back to vanila.
Couch 11. März 2017 um 20:56
I can confirm, grinding batteries only gives me scrap. To my knowledge I have no other mods that should affect batteries.
Ravenjrake 9. Feb. 2017 um 19:46
understood, however vanilla batts are still providing scrap. :)
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 9. Feb. 2017 um 16:55
This only affects vanilla batteries. Modded batteries are up to their owner to change that behavior.
Ravenjrake 9. Feb. 2017 um 13:59
I have the same issue Phoenix. I am using Extra Batteries and Compact batteries by doncdxx and ravenbolt respectively. To my knowledge neither change default battery but defaults still only return scrap.
Dragon Fire 813 11. Jan. 2017 um 6:12
It might be the accumulator battery mod, since that is the only mod I don't have on a world that this mod did work on.
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 8. Jan. 2017 um 18:42
@Dragon Fire 813, What other mods do you have? One of them is conflicting. I tried with no other mods and it worked fine.
Dragon Fire 813 8. Jan. 2017 um 18:16
the discharged power cells are still in the assembler menu though
Dragon Fire 813 8. Jan. 2017 um 18:15
When I ground down the lander batteries, I got 120 scrap
Dragon Fire 813 8. Jan. 2017 um 18:14
the mod inv. x4 x10 x40 lets any item(accept hydrogen bottles) go through small conveyors
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 8. Jan. 2017 um 18:03
Small conveyors only transport if the item is below 25cm in length. The power cells are listed in game as 30cm. I don't make the rules, I just obey them. :-)
Stroomschok 8. Jan. 2017 um 17:25
I use several mods, but I really wouldn't know which one shrunk the battery size (defnitely none advertized as such). Still... I never quite got why batteries wouldn't fit through small conveyors.

They are an absolute pain to haul by hand, and with discharged batteries you are hauling even more. And not being able to use small conveyors is just an annoying limitation to have to build around making a small grid hauler/welder/grinder (and it's not hard or anything, so it's not a balance issue either).
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 8. Jan. 2017 um 12:32
@Dragon Fire 813 , I just tested this and it still works for me.
@Stroomschok, Normal ones do not fit through small conveyors for me. Do you have another mod installed that enables that?
Dragon Fire 813 8. Jan. 2017 um 0:19
Last update broke this mod, I get scrap again.
Stroomschok 3. Jan. 2017 um 17:12
Discharged batteries don't fit through small conveyors, while normal ones do. Please fix?
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 29. Dez. 2016 um 11:44
@Void Stitch, Yes, but you're the first to report an issue. :-)
Hate Bear 4. Nov. 2016 um 19:19
Hell yeah. This is basically exactly what I was looking for. I would be cool with one that restores with no power, but I am not going to complain about this 10% find. Thanks.
THUNDERCOMPUTER 12. Okt. 2016 um 11:37
It's amazing the little jewels of modding you can find in the workshop! Made the Wall Mount Battery compatible with this per request.
Kagee 6. Okt. 2016 um 12:19
I found it.
Everything works correctly. So what happened?
I had too many discharged cells to fit in the assembler, so while it was disassembling, after every cell it pulled a new one from cargo to disassemble. This way, in the Assembler it looks like you get a cell for a cell. (-:
Kagee 5. Okt. 2016 um 22:59
Ok.
It works in a new world with this mod only. I'll have a look at my other mods.
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 4. Okt. 2016 um 17:23
@Kagee, That's odd. Can you try with a fresh world and just this mod?
Kagee 4. Okt. 2016 um 12:31
When I disassemble a 'Discharged Power Cell' I get a 'Discharged Power Cell'.
Why?
Mike Loeven 6. Juni 2016 um 0:11
Can you add in a recharge block that will automatically pull request the discharged cells and convert them to charged using power grid. Assemblers are a bit of a pain to use and lets face it scrap metal is processed automatically in the refinery so it would be nice to have automatic processing of these as well
TX / Paddan 12. Apr. 2016 um 9:36
My bad, was a modded battery that was doing this. Nm.
TX / Paddan 12. Apr. 2016 um 9:30
This seems to have broken for me, i get scrap again.
Ω Skyrim Spriggan Ω 6. März 2016 um 3:30
why they can't have batteries start with 0% charge and loss all charge when grinded is beyond me....
GreywolfMax 15. Nov. 2015 um 0:55
Trés bonne idée le recyclage des batteries usagées.
Ce-ci est bien plus réaliste ainsi.
Merci Phoenix :)
SilentWulf 1. Nov. 2015 um 0:44
would it be possible to set up the mod to only give an 80-90% return of the materials used to make a charged power cell from the discharged ones, just an idea since realistically you 'would' expect some material-loss; namely the liquid component inside most batteries
SilentWulf 1. Nov. 2015 um 0:35
Thank you for this, its a much needed mod, to making batteries a little more worthwhile since the change. i would love for Keen to implement this mod, or one based off of it into the vanilla game
Commander Kobold 30. Okt. 2015 um 21:03
i doubt the efficiancy of such a set up, especially if you automate it. Unless you have a way to drain the batteries before you grind them with any sort of timeliness.
andreykl 30. Okt. 2015 um 11:32
>someone might spend their time just grinding and welding batteries
All you need is a 1-2 timers, projector some welders and matching number of grinders, may be rotor to held batteries...
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 30. Okt. 2015 um 9:09
@Gregarious Giggi, existing battery mods were never affected by this to begin with. However no, this does not affect mods. Each mod has to handle it themselves.
Commander Kobold 29. Okt. 2015 um 19:56
just curious will this fix/change mod batteries as well?
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 27. Okt. 2015 um 11:23
@Vicizlat, I really don't see why people would spend the time to do that. There are other easier ways to cheat in this game. I could always increase the disassembly time to further remove that hole.
Vicizlat 26. Okt. 2015 um 19:07
So the main concern (and reason for Keen to make the scrap) is that someone might spend their time just grinding and welding batteries to get free energy?? Well I suppose there are all kinds of people...
Anyway, thanks again for this mod. ;)
Gwindalmir  [Autor] 26. Okt. 2015 um 17:56
@Vicizlat, balance. Leaving it 30% is too much, you still get a lot of power for free; the energy spent disassembling and reassembling cells is a lot less. I reduced it to 10% to help with that.
Vicizlat 26. Okt. 2015 um 16:40
A perfect solution to the Power Cells>Scrap problem. Thank you very much!
Only one thing I don't understand - why did you drop down the initial charge from 30% to 10%?
