hey Phoenix, i have used this mod many times in the past i know there is a certain way to get the setup when starting a new map, not doing something right cause the gates arent spawning like they should.... any help?

@No-Life King, Try a new world and let me know if you still see them. Existing worlds will not be changed, even if you update the mod. The prefabs have already been generated, and they don't regenerate again if you change the mod.

You can type in the following in chat to convert them: /stargate upgrade

I just updated them this week. Are you still seeing old ones?
Keep in mind this won't take effect for any existing worlds (unless you travel to a new area).

dhds need tobe replaced to update to new functions, but gates should auto update to unique adresses, what ive noticed from old SGC maps

I think it's nevertheless better if the stargate addresses are unique instead of user choosen addresses...

@Monstertiger, Do you mean a cartouche? Hmm, I hadn't thought of that.
That might be more problematic with the upcoming revamp to the stargate mod though. The gate addresses will soon be random and unique per world.

P.S. It s an area of space that the Goa'uld also inhabit, so their stuff being there still makes sense.

This is gonna be so awesome. I am having a SG playthrough right now. Calling it Stargate:Exodus (Earth was destroyed along with its offworld bases. Me and a bunch of survivors manage to escape aboard a colony ship through a supergate to a faraway planet to begin a new colony. Kind of an alternate universe game) sadly its only me, so i have to pretend there are other survivors. Would be awesome to have other places to go. Thanks!

How did you get a SG in the Al'kesh or the Tel'Tac? Oh and how do I know which one has one? The full modpack includes these flying around already.

@Random, IIRC, it was made before voxel station support was added. I suppose I could add some thrusters and gyros, just for station-keeping.

The Midway station I found was blown to pieces. I assume it was by pirates (I play without meteors and in SP) so perhaps also give it light defence. It also lacks thrusters/gyroscopes so with "Voxel station support" on it just floats around.

1) Why would the new update make things easier? The jump drive isn't usable in this way.
2) I have a non-stargate themed version, Wormhole Portal
3) How it is not stable and long term functional as it is?

‘Stargates’ exist in many fictional works.

Stargate. (obvious)
‘ol Buck Rogers (Erin Grey, where are you?)
Babylon 5.
And in gaming: EVE online.

Basicly a doorway connecting 2 locations.

With the new update, making such things should be much easier to build.

I don’t see any reason to imitate the ‘Stargate’ movie, (but why not?) Making it look a little more conventional in terms of tech might work to NOT scare people away from it.

BUT a more stable ( and long term functional ) version shouldn’t be too hard to make.

What are your intentions?

@L0wtEch, the NPC controlled cargo ships are added by the Stargate mod itself.
This just adds exploration stations and ships.

i removed the seeder from the mod list because i want to deactivate the spawns, but the ships ar e still spawning. Anyhting i have to do in addition to removing the mod?

Try using AutoDHD as the address.

@Chastilius, I'm not sure what you're saying. If you know the address you can gate to it. If you use Midspace scanner to find it, look at the name of the gate itself to see what it is.

One can address to the gate and find out something else than the gate physically get there and read it? Because I have a problem with that, and while I found the gate only Midspace's Exploration Scanner.

@Geneticus, I noticed that too, however the spawn rate is set to the same as all the others.
I'm not sure why it appears more frequently.
I might lower it a bit, thanks for the feedback.

The spawn chanceof the cargo ships looks a bit high. It seems to prevent other cargo ships (Vanilla and mods) from spawning most of the time.

@Phoenix Hey man, I watched Interstellar, and thought, wow, it'd be cool to have a big reflective sphere wormhole in Space Engineers! Then of course I thought of your stargate mod because I love it so much.

I'm sure you get a lot of suggestions and whatnot, so I guess I'm just putting the bug in your ear as an idea.

Could even have it so that you have two that are permanently open and fixed to each other.

However they will be expanded in the future to be abandoned bases and temples too.
