Istanbul calls Istanbul. only Greeks talks about Constantinatopole or whatever is or it was.......Greeks are very jealous about it. There was a war at 1453. they lost and still angry. they want to get revenGe in 1922 and again lost aganist Turks.... The losers of the Aegean

The turkisk conquerors can call it whatever the fuck they want its still constantinople and is rightful clay of the eastern roman empire.

As to the comments:

The city of Vyzantion was probably founded c. 7th century BC by Greek colonists, and may have originally been named Lygos. When it was conquered by Alexander the great, he renamed it Alexandreia, but it quickly reverted back to the name Vyzantion. It was later renamed Augusta Antonina under Septimus Severus, but again quickly reverted back to the name Vyzantion. Under Constantine who moved the capital of the Roman Empire to the city, as well as the Senate and Bureaucracy, it was renamed as Nea Roma (or Latin Nova Roma) and quickly took up the moniker Konstantinoupolis. After 1453, it was known by its Turkish translation, Konstantinyye. Istanbul became its official name after 1923, and derives from a Greek phrase for the city, "He Polin" meaning "The City", and specifically the phrase "Eis ten Polin" meaning "To the city.

And thus is the history of Istanbul, not Constantinople (in reference to the 1953 Swing song by "The Four Lads.")
