Okay after some research and testing it appears that the mods do not get loaded in alphabetical order but in order of activation (from the in game mod menu). Problem is the game has a cache so it remember the time you first activated a mod.

The reason why this mod started working after being renamed with a "ZZZ" at the beginning was not because it became the last in alphabetical order but because the game didn't recognize it anymore and therefore it appended it as the last activated mod on its list.

This means that renaming the mod yeah it works, but you'll have to rename it again each time you download a new custum civ that uses SQL to set its favorite religion.

I tried that and it seems to have worked, at least for one modded civ

I suppose they use SQL rather than XML to set up their custom Civ favorite religion (man why do they do that?)

I fear it would be just too much for me to fix the priority with every single custom Civ in existence.

MODS should be loaded in alphabetical order, so renaming this one with something like "ZZZ" in the beginning of the name would give it priority over everything else, But I'd need to make some tests.

It seems this doesn't work when you're using a lot of faction mods, they'll just pick their default.

Can you give more info on which mods are you using with it? Because it works fine on my side.

I had forgotten Tomatekh made several different historical religion mods and all of them can potentially conflict. So I included them all in the fix. Hopefully I didn't miss any.

Now It's been a long time since I've been managing my mods.

Anyway, I've found what I think was the issue and fixed it. As a matter of facts the mod didn't have anything wrong, but an updated version of the "Historical Religions" mod created a conflict.

If you still have problems, that means there's yet another mod that creates a conflict. In that case try and figure out which it is and I'll remedy to that.

For anyone wondering, mod doesn't work anymore and most likely author isn't going to fix what's wrong. Too bad, too.

@☭✮Şlavicam✮☭ Subscribe to the mod, launch civ and click "MODS'". Then you choose this mod (and any other mods if you wish). Wait for civ to configure the game settings and all that, and now you can play! (Might not affect already saved games, idk)

How do i use it?

Over a hundred religions to choose from and I still always find catholicism, confucionism, and most of the other default ones in the game :/ is there something affecting this? Like you said that as I open the setup screen, the order is changed, can things like every AI civ being random until I set them or having a mod that edits the setup configuration menu affect this, because after several games the same civs always choose the same religion.

because of religious mods crashes occur.remove all religious fashion.
precisely I do not know of any mods crashes.question:
is compatible your mod Favorite Religion Randomizer with other religious mod????
crashes occur in connection with small towns at their request distribution of my adopted religion!

It doesn't seem to work with the Strange Religions mod. The bots pick a random religion, but not one of those.

This mod assigns favorite religions randomly. If you wish to assign a specific favorite religion to a Civ you need to make your own modification.
It is fairly easy if you know how to change XML files.
You may want to check my other mod "Default Strange Religions" and look into its XML to see how it's done.
Ricky Rescue 2014年11月3日 20時28分
yeah, like can i use the mod to choose religions of other mods as a countrys' preferred religion?
Ryoga  [作成者] 2014年11月3日 5時11分
You mean in general?
Ricky Rescue 2014年11月2日 20時24分
how do you change which religion is a civs favorite?
Ryoga  [作成者] 2014年10月26日 18時54分
subscribe then start the game then select mods, browse the list until you find this mod, activate it, then press next, and then you do your usual stuff.
cjraven 2014年10月26日 11時39分
how do you use it

Context is relevant to the understanding of a sentence.

Yeah I'm also going to be very busy with Civ BE.
But you may never know, one day you might find yourself wanting to play some more Civ V games.
Tap.Water 2014年10月22日 17時19分
I subscribed... Then realized that if I don't play Civ V today or thursday... I may never use this. :|

if you delete religion preferences then the AI simply doesn't chose any religion at all.

Assigning a random preference via sql is possible and that's what this mod does. The actual religion selection however happens on C++ level and it's impossible to mod without recompiling the entire core DLL.
sokolsan 2014年10月22日 11時33分
Ну и как?
Teddyk 2014年10月22日 2時28分
Nice mod.
I am curious if Civ Religion preference can be deleted so civs would choose religion completely randomly (once your mod is enabled). Or can you assign random religion to each civ with sql?
Ryoga  [作成者] 2014年10月21日 20時41分
I haven't checked how beliefs are chosen, but I'm pretty sure there isn't a fixed pattern. Maybe there is some bias involved. I'll look into that.

hmm
A Loaf of Bread 2014年10月21日 17時05分
Would it be possible to randomize pantheons chosen as well? The first civ to choose nearly always picks the +30% city defense one, kinda annoying really.

I already tried that, but it has a inherent problem.
It works well as long as you can play a game continuously, but upon saving the game only saves the "ID" of the religion and not its "type". So once you reload you can either reload with the mod (which would randomize the religions again) or without (which means the religion will have their default ID). In either case you'll see the civs that founded religions before, including yourself, having completely different religions that you remembered.

So this is not a viable option, not via SQL. However I might have found a way to solve the problem through another method.
RandyG 2014年10月20日 18時16分
Can you assign each religion a random number in SQL and then order the religions by number, for example lowest to highest? This way the religion order changes each game; therefore, when a civ’s favorite religion is chosen, the first available not yet picked religion will be different from game to game.

It sounds like you know what you are doing, I will add it to the long list of mods that I play with and get back with you ifI have any problems. I am new and this is my first post on steam. I have a question?
I have played civilization since civ. III and was wondering if there is a lobby room like civ. III had where people got together for online games. I have only seen people posting messages for games. Can you take certain mods and add them together for one mod so that I would not have to keep remembering what mods was used on my saved games. I find using the same mods on the loads is simplier and there is no conflicts.
