I'm marking this mod obsolete. I haven't done any playtesting of the new space pod to have an idea where I want to go with this now that the survival update is in SE.

Hi Reknot. Thanks for the comment. I got a friend that is getting into Space Engineers soon, and I got a feeling that it will bring me back for a while.

First thing on my list will be bringing my mods current. Even if my mods still work ok, I feel more comfortable if they are actually built from the latest versions of the game files for compatibility reasons.

I'm engaged in a lot of different games right now, and I just wish there was more time in a day.

Hey Koder. Is this ship permanently broken for the new patches?
Have you thought about maybe revisiting this in the new Beta?

It's offical. Inspired by the hardcore start that is Floatie, I have just finished a new respawn vehicle called the "Endeavor" Land Survival Vehicle. Endeavor LSV is the same hardcore start, but it's a land-based vehicle. I will be HEAVILY updating it as planets and their hotfixes come out. Feel free to give it a whirl and let me know what you think! I'll be doing a ton of testing this weekend too.

Well guys, planets are on the horizon. My plans are to shift focus to a planet-based start, since it was confirmed in the 2nd anniversary stream that survival is going to change as we know it. Thank you all for the feedback both in and out of game on this respawn ship.

I will post another announcement if I plan to remove this mod. For now, I'm thinking I will be publishing the planet-based start vehicle as a separate mod. I will have a lot of testing to do :)

- Removed starting oxygen from the Cockpit and the Oxygen Tank. The Cockpit will take about 60% of the Oxygen Bottle that you start with to refill itself when you first spawn in.

It's too easy starting with that much O2.

Thanks for the support guys, appreciate the kind words and the feedback, keeps me motivated to do this stuff. Sorry I was away for a bit there.

I've done some thinking about planets. When they get released, it's very likely there will be a scenario that involves a planet start at some point. I was goona redesign this for planets, but instead, I'm going to make something completely different for the hardcore planet starts. I'll post something in here after I have something together for that.

v4.0.0 Release Notes:
- Cargo Container is now Large instead of 2 Mediums to maintain 1x compatibility after the cargo rebalance
- Front and rear thrusters upgraded to Large Thrusters to help deal with inventory mass (Watch your power!)
- Hull redesign to accomodate changes and still retain somewhat of a small form factor
- Added Hydrogen Bottle to Ship Inventory to refuel your jetpack in case you don't find ice soon enough
- Added 5 Cameras around the cargo container (Rear, Left, Right, Above, Below) for first-person only players (like myself)
- Added some extra computers to assist with Refinery, Connectors, Gatlings, or whatever else the user feels they need before getting the refinery up to smelt the ores that the Arc Furnace can't.
- Don't forget: They updated Batteries, and they grind down without giving back power cells. Be mindful of this when building your station!

Yeah i could see that actually, to be fair i think thats the best possible reply you could have given and its probably at if not close to as difficult/fair non-grindy as it can get in a balanced sorta sence

It can definitely be harder. I was testing some other setups, and I was beting my head against the wall with how annoying it was to go back and forth grinding/welding buildings in order to survive. It was getting to the point that I didn't think it would be fun anymore. So in the interest of gameplay I had to add a little bit of slack back in there.

I prefere this version alot more, much harder yet i still feel there may be room for improvment? per haps have it you can only have either the furnace or assembler built at once initially? forcing players to have to switch between refining ore and making items, though i suppose thats difficult if they are to have enough parts for the oxy gen, but i'll leave it in your capable hands, looking alot better now

Update to v3.1.0 - Increased difficulty.

Modifications to Small Ship:
- Removed Oxygen Tank
- Removed Oxygen Generator
- Removed Solar Panels
- Set Battery to 10% Charge

Modifications to Cargo:
- Added 1 Oxygen Bottle (This is to add a small amount of air to the cockpit when you start, and will auto-consume on load)

Hints: You will have to modify your ship along the way (more than once) in order to survive. The sacrifices you make to do this, and when to make them, is a choice left to the player now.

Oh way more fun and more of a challenge, you could try it without build in oxygen tanks so the cockpit has no oxygen and just have a gen and 1 bottle, i beleive thats alot more iniefficent than having a ship bottle feeding cockpit

Yep, O2 is a non-issue. That's a major part of it. Thinking about scrapping the onboard O2 processing and just starting with 1 o2 bottle to feed the cockpit. If you want to build o2 processing, you'll have to use resouces that you would normally use to make arc furnace/assemblar etc. So that way when you are ready you can make the switch. I'll give it some thought, its still fun though. More of a challenge than the yellow bus at least.

Just an FYI guys, I've playtested this quite a bit today, and its way too easy, expect some changes. This is intended to be a hardcore enthusiast ship, and it just doesn't feel that difficult.

I want to add that there are no oxygen bottles included, but the remodeled ship has integrated oxygen processor/tank, you can feed more ice in thru the front if you need more before you are able to get an oxygen solution up and running in your base.

Alright guys! I'm back after a long break from SE, and Oxygen requirement for survival is just what a hardcore enthusiast like me is looking for. I reset the starting charge on the battery to 100% and the oxygen tank capacity to 100%. I need to see how this plays out in a hardcore survival scenario before I change any values.

I want to know what you guys want for additional paint jobs. Currently the only color is Red/White (Base Color/Trim Color). What other Base/Trim color combinations would you guys like to see?

Well Check The main Files. My spawn ship mod was also out of date as they changed the way you make them. the way the files are read are diffrent. anyway Yep- Going out now so GL fixing :D (B-day)

Hi just Letting you know Since the last update these will not load for me- even using no other mods. :) ( i have done a fresh download of game and mod as well) This was my prime spawn ship as well (thankfully i have a BP of it) but wont be the same :(

I really like this starting ship. Default starting ships give you way too much so this works very well. I also like the change from refinery to arc furnace. I look forward to future releases from you.

UPDATE: Okay, I'm only having difficulties on asteroids scenario only, others seem to create just fine. I posted in the bug reports on the forum on the thread where someone else was having the same issue.

- got rid of materials for refinery and put in materials for arc furnace in its place (20 computers added to accomodate for the trace amounts of gold/silicon that arc furnace can't refine)
- Antenna is set to off, at minimum range with broadcasting disabled.

This is a really great starting ship. The challange strikes a good balance between difficulty and fairness. It gives you just enough to get the ball rolling and leaves it up to the player to keep it rolling.
Anyone who enjoys playing with x1 realistic survival settings should definetly give this ship a try.
