Had to learn all the linux github cli basics from scratch due to never having need before so let me know if I did this right. Hopefully steam at least lets the link go through.

I fixed it in under 15 minutes yesterday on a local copy since all I needed to do was add a folder and patch file to the mod for Insectoids 2 and set the load folders to load it when VFE insectoids 2 is installed. Its literally as simple as patching the insectoid extraction bill to add the corpses and the only tedious part is going through insectoid 2 and finding all the insect defnames to add to the patch.

Four possible options now: I can send you the files and you can upload them, I can send only the changed and updated files and you can add them to the mod, I can cut out the middle man and upload it myself to my workshop, or you can fix it yourself on your end since it really is a super simple fix

As CTH2004 mentioned this doesn't work with VFE insectoids 2 currently since the corpses from that mod aren't listed in this ones bill menus. Pretty easy fix from what can tell, just a tiny bit tedious due to all the bug bodies needing to be added from insectoids 2

Hmm, I think when I was writing it, I pasted the operation for adding insects but forgot to check, turns out there isn't any in Vanilla Animals Expanded anyway so I just removed that patch.

Just noticed it might alternatively be '/Defs/RecipeDef[defName = "GR_ExtractGenesInsectoids"]/fixedIngredientFilter/thingDefs' which comes just after the previously mentioned operation.

Causes a bunch of errors related to Alpha Animals corpses when installed without that mod. Specifically, it's still running the '/Defs/RecipeDef[defName = "GR_ExtractGenesInsectoids"]/ingredients/li/filter/thingDefs' patch operation, which is the list of missing Defs in the console verbatim.

It seems that this mod does not work properly with 'Vanilla Animals Expanded' if "Alpha Animals" is not installed.

Nope, only the insectoid genome is extracted and it only works for the table.

I just tried it out with no mods and over 300 mods enabled and it works fine now.

I've had an odd glitch:
Whenever this mod is loaded I can't do any research.

Specifically whenever I click a research node the description screen takes up the whole screen with no research button and the description missing, all it shows is the research name and needed/fulfilled requirements.

Removing this mod from the active mod list fixes the issue, adding it back recreates the issue.
I don't know if it is an odd mod conflict yet or just base game issue...
(I need to test base game and just this mod to see for sure but I've been trouble fixing for 3 hours so I ain't doing it rn)

I had this issue too. IIRC it was the smeltable or non-smeltable weapons checkmark in stockpile settings that makes it blink like crazy. Not related to this mod though.

When you install mods mid game and have stockpiles then they may mess up. I have deleted all stockpiles and grow zones. The placed them again and it rarely happens now. I am currently using 200+ mods myself. Add me if you want. Playing games is my job.

I was wrong. Sorry for blaming you. I have no idea why its doing this but its blinking all the time. Once again, not this mods fault at all. I have been messing with this for hours and the only thing that seems to fix it is saving and exiting to the main menu and then loading again. Fixes it for a couple of minutes.

Because of the way you include ALL the genomes even if those mods are not installed, the game blinks while playing it. Took me a couple of hours but I finally figured out that it was this mod doing it. Don't really understand it myself but the way it was explained to me is that it is always looking for this non installed content and blinks while looking.

@m11kire Tier 2 and 3 genes can't normally be extracted at the Genome Extracting Table, you need to manually use the excavators, this mod adds a research for each tier to unlock these recipes.

Also, you could already use a normal excavator on a dog or cat-like animal from Alpha Animals and extract feline/canine genes anyway so I added them to the original recipes.
