Large Grid Fixed Auto Cannon and Assault Cannon be sweet. like a rapid fire cannon
ZEN_2255 11 Jun @ 1:06pm
I would like to see this type of weapon in vanilla mode. XD

I have no idea what would be involved, but a WeaponCore version of this mod would be incredible.

Any chance for Large Grid Fixed Auto Cannon and Assault Cannon?
Valikai  [author] 15 Sep, 2023 @ 5:11pm
@Not_EviL It's like a rapid fire autocannon. It's punchy but definitely not OP.
Not_EviL 15 Sep, 2023 @ 7:06am
How is the damage scaled in comparison to the small grid gatling?
BENBOBBY 7 Aug, 2023 @ 9:08am
@Evelyn, Angel of the void Haha no not at all, I get your point! But theres always a balance between realism and fun in video games. To me introducing a new ammo type for one mod, which messes up other things is a bit unnecessary! Good for people who want a bit more realism, but would be nice if there was a standard version too.

@Valikai True! However things in the vanilla game are factored into other mods/scripts, whereas this modded ammo is not. For example ammo count in Automatic LCDs etc. So would be appreciated if you could make an alternative version :) Great mods btw

@BENBOBBY Wait, Okay, Maybe I'm dumb.

Just to be clear, you want a massive large block chaingun where I could potentially *fist the barrel* to shoot space 7.62xWhateverKeenDecidedThisWeek instead of something BarrelFistingSizedxWhateverWeDecidedThisWeek for... What reason exactly?
Valikai  [author] 7 Aug, 2023 @ 7:43am
Interesting to consider. The railgun is a vanilla example of a weapon with 2 sizes for ammo. I don't think this is really breaking the rule - but it probably dances the line a bit. I need to push an update to fix an issue on a LOD, I'll think about it.
BENBOBBY 7 Aug, 2023 @ 3:37am
@Evelyn, Angel of the void But that 'problem' already exists as the small grid Gatling Gun uses the same ammo as the large grid version despite it being x5 larger! Keen obviously didnt think it was an issue, so this mod introduces an unneeded extra ammo into the game.

Fair enough for people who want some extra realism but I wish there was also a version that just uses standard ammo! Please @Valikai

Again your suggestion seems like a needless complication. Gatling guns using Gatling ammo, simple!
Evelyn, Angel of the void 6 Aug, 2023 @ 7:22pm
@BENBOBBY It's odd, and I know I'm not the author... But if I've got to say I don't think something 5 times the size should shoot the same bullets...

However I propose the idea that it should fire the assault cannon ammo. Something larger in caliber but still in the vanilla game.

Thanks for this mod, however could you make another version that just uses default Gatling Ammo Box ammo please.

Having a new ammo type messes with other mods and seems an unnecessary complication really given that there is a large grid Gatling Turret which is a similar size that just uses the standard ammo. I see why you did it but could be good to give people the option not to introduce new things into the game. Thanks.

Would it be possible to make the base of the turret rounded instead of a box? The box shape makes it hard to put into a gimballed setup with armor around it. Great mod btw should be in base game.
Evelyn, Angel of the void 21 Nov, 2022 @ 2:54am
Ah, okay. I was going to say that if it used normal gatling ammo it'd be pretty silly lol.

I do however agree that if this thing is a fixed gatling gun chambered in... say... 27mm or like 30mm ammo then it should absolutely shred anything in front of it. Like absolutely demolish it and have a reload to match that sort of power. I'm however not thinking of balance when I say that but more a realistic view on the idea of a rotary 30mm cannon that would require a fixed mounting.

I'm not saying you have to change a damn thing, and I'm gonna check this out myself now... but in my humble opinion this thing should be firing hot death with a 'to whom it may concern' label.
Valikai  [author] 21 Nov, 2022 @ 12:07am
@Evelyn of Theia It has it's own ammo type.
Evelyn, Angel of the void 20 Nov, 2022 @ 11:08pm
So does this shoot the small ship weapon's ammo as well? Or does this have it's own ammo type?
NaN/iG19432 2 Oct, 2022 @ 2:36am
and ran on autocannon to make the bullets a bit more matching
NaN/iG19432 2 Oct, 2022 @ 2:35am
wait, what if every barrel shot at once? that would be OP i know, but maybe it should be in an admin menu?
xenolego 26 Sep, 2022 @ 7:09pm
Hell yeah!
MousseMaster 16 Sep, 2022 @ 6:37pm
The DPS rates of the large grid are only 30% more than the small grid, you're better off just using a sub grid and gun spamming! - Maybe increase the damage per shot by 2x - 3x?
killguard32 16 Sep, 2022 @ 3:04pm
i was wondering if these weapons could just use the vanilla ammo box. The reason is the range increase mods would work with these gats as well. Its nice to see someone making these, great job. These weapons should be in the vanilla game. Thanks
Ribbons0121R121 16 Sep, 2022 @ 1:15pm
how is this better than the small grid
Stratus 15 Sep, 2022 @ 11:43am
What's the damage difference between the two sizes?

I will look it up should that day arise.
Valikai  [author] 14 Sep, 2022 @ 4:25pm
@ATF_Coldblooded Carebear || No plans for now. Just vanilla compatibility.
ATF_Coldblooded Carebear || 13 Sep, 2022 @ 11:22pm
Will there be a weaponcore version??
Gray 13 Sep, 2022 @ 9:07am
Getting creative? :D
AcidTripN 10 Sep, 2022 @ 9:44pm
I cant wait to try them,
Valikai  [author] 10 Sep, 2022 @ 5:34pm
@AcidTripN 800m, same as standard Gatling Guns.Their advantage is their very high rate of fire, otherwise they're just fun. Haha. You'd still need artillery or big cannons for a big hit, but these spray really well.
AcidTripN 10 Sep, 2022 @ 9:16am
Whats the range on them?
