@Borjär, it works the same as the regular heating plants in the game - they are still working in the summer but with less burn rate, it stops completely only on really hot days (>28º?).
A workaround is to manually reduce the number of workers to 0 to shut it down, and only increase it in cold winter days, or when you get buildings too cold notifications.

It is a little bit annoying that they always burn, even in the summer, polluting everything. but i am no modder and maybe making it otherwise is really hard. Used them in a cold winter as emergency heating when the heating system malfunctioned. Great mod in general :)
