Hey Chromium, the historical billhook is a medieval tool for use on trees, but adapted for warfare as well. As the name of mod suggests, this is not about a modern tool. Thus the classification as a spear would be the best fit for it.

If we're talking modern billhooks though, I would absolutely agree to it's classification as long blade.

why does the billhook use the long blade skill? its the most similar to a spear AND uses the spear moveset

Btw armor doesn't protect the neck at all. Was bitten there from behind. Great mod anyway!

the unfriendly ghost, I copied mod from workshop folder to the "Zomboid\mods" folder and edited ..\media\lua\server\items\HistoricalWeaponsAndArmor_Distributions.lua file to match my preference. I.e. I deleted lines which add armor and weapon to loot in crates, army lockers, gunshops, hunting shops and left only pawnshops with increased chance.

its been a great mod so far, but the spawn rate for the weapons are a bit too high, unsure if there is a setting to turn down the spawn rate for them, might just be blind tho

'short blade' weapons can't be attached to belt or back, the craft recipe consume the ball peen hammer as well instead of letting you keep it.

@simplementebruno I just managed to fix the issue by going into the recipe files of the mod and adding a comma. The recipe requires a plank for items such as the halberd or 15th century spear, and its is missing a comma. I also indented the code to be in line with the rest of the code, not sure if that did anything.

If you are not sure how to get there, just follow this (should be located where you store your Steam games): SteamLibrary, steamapps, workshop, content, 108600, 2838108930, mods, HistoricalWeaponsAndArmor, media, scripts, and HistoricalWeaponsAndArmor_Recipes. From there just search for the code of all the weapons that disappear and add the missing commas.

These weapons and armour feel somewhat overpowered but that's nothing wrong in this case, that's exactly the point they were created in the first place in history. These things should be overpowered because these are actual melee weapons and armour, unlike tools or clothes. The only issue is that the weapons cannot be repaired but, on the other hand, I can't imagine using a duct tape to repair a sword. Maybe new repair items could be added to make repairs of those weapons possible? Nevertheless, great mod, these weapons are fun to use. And it makes sense that metal armour never loses its durability in combat (haven't tested that extensively but never noticed a loss of durability), there's no way human teeth or nails could damage iron or steel. By the way, is there a mace in this mod? If no, then it's the only thing I feel missing in this mod. I'd love to have a fully metal mace (iron or even steel) with realistic durability (that is: almost indestructible in combat).

This is also the reason the Billhook recipe doesn't appear after you read the magazine. The magazine gives the recipe "Make Billhook" and not "Make BillHook", which is what the recipe is actually named.

There is a typo in the Billhook recipe. The result should be Billhook, not BillHook. Right now, the recipe will consume your items and not give you anything.

@Executive Operative - one could edit the distributions and remove all the the locations that make sense. Since this was last updated in July of last year, I may just look into updating this myself.

So, I looked into it, and this mod was kinda all over the place, with half the items not even tagged to the mod. It's a fair bit of work, but I have nothing else to do today, so I think I can clean it up. Look forward to a re-release either today, or tomorrow.

EDIT: I am now finished the rework of this mod. It is cleaner, more balanced, better distributions and all items are now associated with the mod. Recipes were removed, so no longer requires Blacksmith Mod. Link below

hi, i noticed you can't melt back some of the items. also, many recipes consume the ball peen hammer but don't require a handle instead.

Is there a way to restrict spawning of all items in this mod to pawn stores, with the exception of an extremely rare spawn chance in houses? I feel as thought that is the most realistic approach for a mod such as this.

There are a few items I can't craft via menu, including the aforementioned billhook as well as the sallet that appears in the images. I've read the magazine and took the smith occupation.

question being it seems that the blacksmith mod does currently not work/or work correctly do you plan on adding a crafting method to your own mod at some point in order to reduce dependency ?

Why can't a weapon like a dagger or a short sword be hung on the belt? It can only be held in the hand.

It's a little weird that most weapons seem to be placed on their thinner sides rather than their wider sides when placed in the world. Is this intentional?

@Sen'val, its quite accurate ngl, chainmails are worn under the sallet and armet and the other option of neck protection is a gorget, and both arent really available

May I ask why none of the armor offered in this mod protects the neck? The Plate and Brigandine both offer excellent protection across the body, but even with a helmet the neck will remain 0/0/0, not that bullet resistance is a big issue but bite and scratch being left at 0 on the neck sort of leaves a massive Achilles' Heel where a single attack could end a nearly fully armored character.

I'm unaware if this has been addressed. But i was wondering for the Magazine "Ye Olde Book of Armor and Weapons" it says I'm able to make some weapons like the Billhook, but cant seem to find the ability to do so in the crafting menu?

Anything i can do to solve this issue? or still looking into it? pls lmk no rush

I think the swing speed was dramatically reduced with the Falchions and similarly one handed bladed weapons...makes them almost useless

I was about to ask if it added halberds or poleaxes lol, cause those are my faves. Locally that fifth image answered my question. More of a poleaxe guy tho

Does the greatsword not have multihit? Even with big crowds it only seems to hit single zombies for a weapon so large.
