Ferris seems to be working on updating OwlChemist's mods. as of writing this, they're missing most of the "perspective" series (including this mod), but it's worth checking if you're seeing this in the future (and you don't use ReGrowth):

I'm having a bug... so i have a freaking HUGE animal in front of a tree, but the tree is drawn in front of the animal. the actual size is one tile but its body is huge so it spills out onto other tiles, like the thrumbo

if you use Camigo's Majestic Trees it makes them bigger but also hides the trees under your mouse

Is there a simple way to toggle it? Like, I love it like this most the time but being able to hit a button sometimes would be sweet.

any chance we can get something like this for chairs both vanilla and modded? It would be nice if pawns didn't look like they were standing behind chairs facing up when "sitting" in them.

A compatibility for Alpha Biomes would be awesome especially for the Miasmic Mangrove biome in Alpha Biomes. Also a transparency would be nice too. :steamhappy:

Great mod but not sure If increased forest density and this match good together. I'd like to play with both but I'm finding it extra hard to see any stuff.

There indeed seems to be a bug with trees added by the popular Alpha Biomes mod: It does not modify perspective for them.
Tested & verified with only these two mods (and dependencies) enabled, can provide screenshots if you doubt it. Idk why they don't work, since the trees affected (e.g. AB_MangroveTree) seem to be derived from TreeBase.
But maybe you'll know if and what needs to be adjusted so the patch works for them as well.

@Kyrox: Well that's probably the reason why they are rendered "behind" in vanilla. Sure dynamic transparency would be nice, but as others have pointed out it would kill performance. So chose this mod, or vanilla.

i have seen now something rather funny
Rocs, aka massive mythological birds render behind trees which makes them flying about seem a little silly

know of a mod that does this for everything? generally anything one block north of something should be draw behind it, but so many things dont do that. even certain pawn clothing and beards when pawns are close to each other.

Trees are really a pain when fighting in now lol. A transparency setting would be nice.

I know it's more work to make, but an elegant solution I found (in another game) was to make the top half of trees slightly transparent so that the player can still guess what's behind them. It's a good compromise between "f*cked perspective" and "can't see what's behind the trees" imho.

@Jim - the draw layer adjustment would only apply to trees. It should look "natural" in its perspective. Or am I misunderstanding and it didn't visually look correct? If that's the case, might sending a screenshot?

@Yamgo - Hmmm if you only tested with this mod loaded then it should just match the screenshot, yeah. Sometimes the perspective will still look wrong when they make a diagonal move in some edge cases, but that's just a fundamental limitation with how rimworld does its rendering (and sorry for delayed response, btw!).

@yamgo Yeah me too. I was just yesterday struggling to interact with some harvested berries as they were hidden behind a tree. Should they be rendered in front of the tree vanilla? Or does this mod only handle a specific set of objects?

In your screenshot, the deers render above the lower half of the tree but under the upper half. In my game, however, they always render behind, even the lower half. I tested it with only this mod loaded. Is that how it is supposed to be?

just incase it hasnt been brought up yet, gauranlen trees render ontop of.. whatever the hell that thing that spawns under it is suppose to be https://imgur.com/a/YbXIEa5 and doesnt really look right.
