@Mlie -- I think what @Nexus57 was talking about was Biomes! Prehistoric (https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2860715703)

A fair amount of folk may want to use this mod alongside it for more dino-variety and also the Jurassic buildings.

I really appreciate all the work you do. If you ever have time to work on this one again, I think I've discovered a bug with the herbivore feeders. (tamed) Therizinosaurus in particular won't eat the paleobale even though they're herbivores. I haven't had an opportunity to test other creatures and feeders quite yet but I'll report back if I notice anything further.

Tiled Floors support light and heavy things but not materials, meaning doors that aren't wooden cannot be placed on them as it cannot "support" it due no medium support

Quick question for those using this mod. Do dinos show gear from Animal Equipment? I seen a T-Rex with gear on it but my Gasosaurus gear doesnt show on it outside of inventory. Its not a big deal but just curious to see if what others say.

You should be happy that someone like Mlie is reviving these mods because the author of this mod is no longer updating it and without Mlie and others you couldnt even use this mod.
But like Mlie said when you give him/her textures this doesnt seem to be the problem.

So this mod is not dead its finished and only kept alive for us to use.

Yeah, what benai said. Seems there's a wild version and a created one, and they can't breed together. And I found out after I posted my question, looking over the details on some Gigas I'd gotten, that created ones don't have a minimum skill needed for taming or anything, while wild ones do.

The fact that they're two different categories is a bit annoying, but now that I know why there is, it's more understandable why there are two different versions.

There a two sorts of dinos those with the wild "tag" and the created ones.
Those cant breed with each other. Thats why these are also sorted into different Dinos with the same name.
Open their character window and look which kind of egg they lay. I would say that its different.

I have a question. I've had some dinos bought and/or tamed, trying to get them breeding and they refuse to. I've noticed that those that don't are classified under my auto-slaughter tab in two separate categories. Is this a bug or a side effect of part of the mod?

@All They changed how soundDefs can be written and this mod has a lot of them. I will take a look at it as soon as I am done with the bulk of the 1.4 updates

Pawn_Coahuilaceratops_Angry sound is missing resolved grains and will not work properly. Report about it to Jurassic Rimworld (Continued) devs.
Seems to go for all pawn. The list is endless.

So, Hi y'all, bit of a issue, this mod and the dinos only won't play any of the sounds for the dinos,the game say's they are missing and report it to the dev, so here i am, sorry for this idiotic post

As this is "compatible with Dinosauria" is there any way to make it prefer to use the Dinosauria dinosaur models? I really do prefer their art style, but still want the dinos that are exclusive to Jurassic Rimworld to appear alongside them.

@AerosAtar Should be fixed now. That mod had the chitin gfx on the exact same path as this mod but with an extra folder for it, causing rimworld to treat the files as folders.

Sorry for double post: The values that I used and gave you are based on gold commonality or lower, and after you change them I suggest you to start a few colonies in dev mode to see if the changes worked or not. REMEMBER ALWAYS TO BACKUP your save and/or every file you modify.

I tried the caravan fix that Very Melon recommended and i think it worked. I apologize for the grammatical errors, not my first language. Thank you Mlie for resurrecting this gem.

A tried to fix the spawn fix for amber:

Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\2567489721\1.3\Defs\ThingDef_Buildings" and open Buildings_AmberMineable with notepad or notepad++. Search for:

<mineableScatterCommonality>1</mineableScatterCommonality> and change it to 0.06,
<mineableScatterLumpSizeRange>
<min>30</min>, change it to 2,
<max>40</max>, change it to 6.

If you want to lower the deep drill commonality of amber go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\2567489721\1.3\Defs\ThingDef_Items" and open Items_Resource_Amber. Search for:

<deepCommonality>1.5</deepCommonality>, change it to 0.4
<deepCountPerPortion>20</deepCountPerPortion>, change it to 8
<deepLumpSizeRange>
<min>20</min>, change to 1,
<max>40</max>, change it to 2.

Sorry for the double post: it looks like the orbital traders also have the same issue, so follow the steps below but instead open the following file: "JurassicRimworld_TraderKinds_Orbital_Misc.xml" to fix the orbital traders.

A temp fix for the caravan issue:

Go to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\2567489721\1.3\Defs\TraderKindDefs" folder (may be different depending on where you installed Steam) and the open the "JurassicRimworld_TraderKinds_Caravan_Outlander.xml" file in a text editor (I use Notepad++, but notepad works just fine).

In there, search for "Caravan_Outlander_Herbivore"; there should be a line with "<commonality>2</commonality>" a bit below. Change it to something lower, I myself use '0.15' (works as a percentage).

Next, search for "Caravan_Outlander_Carnivore" and do the same steps as above to change the commonality to something lower. Save your changes and restart Rimworld for them to take effect.

NOTE: If Mlie updates this mod afterwards, it will override the file and revert your changes, so check the file again if these caravans start spawning en masse again. HTH

Can we get a patch that fixes the caravan issue and a slider to adjust how much amber replaces steel? Or just spawns in general? I've been waiting for this mod to be resurrected forever as I never got to try it, but if the reported bugs below are common it doesn't sound like it's worth dedicating time into. Regardless thanks for your hard work resurrecting so many mods

I think the caravan problem is caused by the the commonality of the caravan being set to 2 in the xml where as vanilla caravans have no commonality set for them (probably 1 by default) .

Just wanted to chime in for anyone looking to get this mod on the two HUGE problems I have run into that are very, very nearly game breaking. First, as mentioned below, for whatever reason almost every caravan is replaced by the mod caravans which really only buy and sell dinosaurs. Very frustrating. They wont even buy drugs like most vanilla caravans.
Second, a vast majority of natural steel spawns on most map generations are replaced by a mod resource called amber. This amber while okay for walls is absolutely useless for armor building and bad for weapons. Any armor made from amber has no defense values and is therefore purely cosmetic. This coupled with the fact that you will have nearly no metal on your map and cant buy it from the only type of caravan in the game is really just a repeated kick right in the jimmies. The mod options do not allow any modification of these glaring problems.

Yeah not sure what is happening on my side too; but out of last 10 or so caravans all 10 have been carnivore or herbivore traders; is there a quick fix I can do on my side to lower the odds of these?

I noticed that most of the caravans that reach my colony are Carnivore or Herbivore trader caravans wich sells DNA and Amber and some dinosaurs. It is like 90% of the trader caravans. could you low the chance of this kind of trader caravans? since they buy almost nothing, it makes trader caravans almost useless :(

@GHOST Yes, it's okay for some dinosaurs to be on the very strong side, that's fine and welcome. But I think there are balance problems because dinosaurs reproduce so fast. I was able to make 50,000 silver in less than a year by selling dinosaurs because they keep breeding so fast, and I started with 2!

As a result of the lightning fast reproduction, they had to make the value of the dinosaurs incredibly low compared to their stats (which results in the absurd manhunter raids.) Unfortunately, they didn't make the value low enough to stop money exploits because exponential growth is a bitch!

Yeah, it seems like the dinosaurs are intended to be significantly stronger. I like it, IMO, it makes them feel like real dinosaurs.

@Daxter Id rather not change stuff like that since I am not the original author so I cannot know the intentions of the mod. But in the description the author recommends any embrasure mod to ”fend off hungry carnovores” so the increased danger might be intended
