i used the omni-man swep and when using the fast flight he just snaps into a tilted position, and when punching or using any of the other moves he doesn't have an animation which makes this really funny effect that looks like he's just generating shockwaves with his eyes or steps. im not sure what other sweps have this same problem, i have yet to test them but i came to the assumption that sweps that use custom animations like the omni-man one might have a similar problem.

@Autizmosskids none that I know of, most likely because it would look very odd with the default animations.

Could you give an example of one of these sweps? I am looking into fixing some things for the next update and I would like to get custom swep animations working (honestly they should just work as all the bones are still in the armature and named correctly)

this is super cool but because it has custom animations, some sweps that give custom animations have their animations broken and he just does a default idle when using them. now im not gonna ask you to fix this, since its not really a problem in the player model itself, but is there a version of this same player model, without knees or elbows, but without custom animations?

I have noticed that sometimes when you apply a skin it appears as invisible (you can see the error model underneath), this seems to be caused by the skin api not loading fast enough but I haven't confirmed this.

I will work toward fixing this issue.

My skin only appears when my character is dead, in the playermodel selector, and on the v_arms. It shows up on minotar.net/skin/ as well.

@spartanLink11 The addon uses minotar.net , which was the only api i found that worked at the time. If your skin shows up in your browser using minotar.net/skin/yourusername but not in game after setting your username then its possible its an issue with my addon, otherwise its the api.

From my testing all skins worked but its possible minotar might not work well everywhere, so if minotar is the cause then i may need to add a fallback at some point.

What database does it pull for skins? I type some usernames and get what I want and other usernames it doesn't work.

so, i don't know why but my skin doesn't show up, i've used both my minecraft name and my microsft name, is there something i might be missing? i do have minecraft java i even opened it to make sure i typed it right.

sometimes it does break. Like I can use the usernames of people and it just goes completely Missing Textures with deformed geometry

@FirstHermJr Yeah the username needs to be Java, but links from websites do work but can be a bit picky, if the link ends in .png then it should work, which I think you can do with imgur? I just use a username myself so I haven't tested links much.

hey Kermit, Eminem here. im sorry to bother you but i got a dumb question. are these bedrock usernames or java usernames? its probably java but i wanna make sure. Also, do links from websites work? Like if you dont have a java account(i dont) but you want a skin that nobody uses.(i wanna be tennis Steve from console) what should i do? or is website links not possible. thank you Kermit the frog. if you answer my questions ill put you on my next album(joke).

It amazed me very much when I discovered I could spawn a playermodel and use mine and my friend's username to essentially make an old school Minecraft wallpaper in Gmod. It is VERY very good ! Recommand

@TerrAvery Yep, it is multiplayer compatible.

It's still possible there's cases where the skin doesn't sync correctly but from my testing there have been no issues.

@Sleb Unfortunately no, i did look into ways to accomplish this but it would require a separate head mesh per eye position at each size and it didn't look very good with 2x2 eyes anyway.

There is a solution which i may eventually implement just as an option but it will require modifying your skin (just the empty parts that are normally unused, similar to what some minecraft animation mods do such as ETF with Expressive Fresh Moves, probably would use that exact layout even).


Anyway, in short, its best just to disable the blinking if your skin doesn't have the eyes in the correct spot.

Also you can probably decompile the mdl for both the Steve playermodel and the animations to get the qc file if you wanted to use it as a base for anything.

@IRIS basically, instead of using $includemodel "m_anm.mdl" I instead made my own custom m_anm.mdl and include that instead.

There was a lot of trial and error getting the new animations to work correctly but you can find the qc file for the default player animations online and use that as a base. There is also the easier method of just overriding specific animations and still using the default animation mdl but I wanted to ensure only my animations play (also I like to challenge myself).

Oh and also for anyone who wants to, you can also include my custom animations in your qc file if you want to use these animations on your own playermodel, I don't remember the name of the mdl but if you download and unpack my addon you can get the folder structure and file name, you will most likely need to use the proportion trick or adjust the bone rotations though.
