This is the best community map I played so far. The finale sure is challenging because of the stupid bots, but it doesn't ruin the overall experience

The main problem is when youre playing single player in the final the bots stand beneath the janitor down the stairs and the bots wont help get to the fuel up stairs and im on my own trying to get the fuel up stairs while the bots stay down stairs

The fifth chapter is simply impassable, when the moment with gathering begins, the director goes crazy and starts spawning a new horde every 15 seconds, without giving a break, after 3 ~ 5 cans, the tank is guaranteed to spawn. I do not advise downloading any modified effects, otherwise the fifth chapter will start to sink heavily and produce 25 frames. In general, the company is good, but the last segments disappointed me.

Good map, pretty map even when i set my games page pool memory to low, but the finale made it not the best...it tried to be "dead center atrium" but forget that the "generator" is in the center of the map and the gas is scattered all around the map, in this version the "generator" is at the top and the only way to go down is very tight corridors not as open as the atrium map, and the layout is just confusing as hell especially when the helicopter arrived, honestly i wouldnt even know that the helicopter would spawn at the bottom if i didnt notice the odd placement of a ramp, cause if i didnt i would probably be searching where the damn helicopter would be...and also the generator should be near the "Exit" and not make us traverse all the way down the confusing layout of the building with i guess infinite spawning tanks

Good map but its very long for its own good, so at some points of the map its a little boring due of its length. Sometimes its confusing with its directions. Its design is very good for a custom map so worth a shot if you have freetime

Yama (Finale Fixed). Quality: 9/10, Difficulty: 7/10, Length: Long. Played on Expert.

Yama is a very well-crafted map with a lot of variety in terms of its locations, scenery, and set pieces. It’s set in Tokyo, Japan and a nearby town and its outskirts, and it feels very authentic to the locale overall. There are tons of nooks and crannies to explore for items, especially in the city and town you traverse through; making the map a sheer delight for scavengers. It has a good amount of different crescendo and Moderate Gauntlet events that keep the map from feeling too easy, despite the massive amount of consumables it provides you with. Tanks weren’t too much of an issue, other than at the start of Chapter 1 & 4, when one spawned just outside of the safe room/area. There were many Witches in the level, but there were also plenty of Molotovs to burn them with...

...The Finale is a pretty basic Scavenge-Tank, and should be rather easy if everyone splits up/moves in pairs and juggles/carries two cans at a time back to the generator, before filling it up with all of them at once whilst under the effects of Adrenaline. The Tank is pretty easy to defeat on the roof/upper floor area, and should be dealt with there before going back to scavenging/pouring the remaining cans. The Finale building is a little bit labyrinthine, but overall we didn’t have too much trouble navigating through it to get/pour the cans, nor to reach the evacuation helicopter at the ground level.

This map is incredible from a detail and location standpoint. The skill and passion that went into it shines through in every little detail. From the streets of Tokyo to the final in the abandoned hotel, we were all blown away at the amazing and detailed locations. So many little places to go, each secret place with a little reward. A very large amount of custom assets. Gameplay was very fun too, however my favourite are the maps themselves. Each location is built wonderfully, you can tell that so much time has been spent on this map. A big thank you to the map-maker. Excellently done. This might be my favourite L4D2 map that I have played.

Still stable even after so many years. I tried this map about San Francisco Golden Bridge, that one it's so unoptimize it nearly unplayable with mods, but Yama still run at 100%.

The key is to only do the cans on the roof area first, then wait for the first tank. Once that's dealt with, break into groups of 2 and go for the next floor. When the next tank's about to appear, rush back to the theatre room on the roof. Plenty of space there to juke without risk of being punched off.

the finale should remain scavenge as the author originally intended
we will look into how Valve designed scavenge finale
but the type of finale it is will remain the same
i do not want to hear any more of this
scavenge script(s) will be reviewed and adjusted as necessary
regardless, i believe it's completely normal to have infected during tanks
not spawned in waves, the director should only do that separately from tanks
however, if there's lingering infected already spawned that should be normal
maybe there's navigation pathing issues needing cleaned for all we know

I watched your video. Looks like the script that's running is calling a horde then a tank continue. It would just be a matter of adjusting the script for the situation. I'll chat with Ryan about it when I get a minute to look at the script and see what's triggering what and when. Laters.

RF was the first to step up to take it over and fix.
He was giving support by Ortho and even added to the original version.
Got mentioned and credited and added to the original workshop version.
Ortho appeared to disappear, and apparently broken claims started again...
Shao comes around with his attempts, and I tried to merge them together.
But it seemed whatever Shao did isn't compatible with what RF did, so I reverted.
This is why I'm hesitant to do any more to this, out of respect for compatibility.
Whatever RF did seem to be compatible with the original version.
Mine here simply combines them into an all-in-one single download.
Yama remains kept this way out of respect for Ortho.
I'd consider releasing another version after RF and Shao and Time Lord investigate.
However, it will create more confusion and conflicts having different versions.
Multiple versions of the same thing are nothing but a mess.
Especially for server owners to see many versions of the same campaigns and maps.

That's what I thought, and still to this day I remember all of those years ago...
Worked alongside him, rounded up lots of other famous old map and mod authors.
Map and mod authors no longer around anymore, or at least no longer creating.
Plenty of people worked together attempting to help with the finale.
Could still be discussion about this on the original version on Game Maps site.
Yet apparently, something always remained "broken" or inconsistent about the finale.
Hence why much later over time RF and Shao became involved.
And at some point, "Ortho" went missing, never to be found or seen again.
I never found him or heard from him again at least.
Now supposedly it still continues remaining "broken" or inconsistent.
Repeating myself again, I'd recommend asking RF or Shao to investigate.
Of course, assuming they even still care... otherwise, it's in Time Lord's hands.
Mr. Time Lord is pretty much all we have left for old abandoned broken maps.

I was asked by Ortho to help fix the finale back in the day but was very busy. I took a look at it and it had a very small typo in the finale script which was causing all the problems. I told him about it and next thing you know it was fixed. Whether I had anything to do with it matters not but it was actually something very simple that needed fixing. Apparently someone fixed it which is great for us all :) Let's all just enjoy this awesome campaign <3 PLURness.

Very good map design and high difficulty campaign. Some places used real life places as reference and they are very well done despite there are some differences. Resources are adequate and balanced. Finale is the toughest of all because you need to reach the top floor to activate generator and scavenge gascans, and lot of them are placed lower floors, which is a pain since the building isn't navigation-friendly. Deserved to be one of the best campaign on L4D2 workshop.

There is a small flaw in the finale that I would mention.

The camera is somehow behind a branch of one of the fir trees when the heli flies away obscuring the view with an up close view of a sprite

it's been a long time since i've played this map but, i just wanted to say that this is the only map so far that managed to make the atmosphere from bright and colourful night city to horror and calm abandoned sites in a quick yet smooth way. the complain that i have is probably the finale, which was if i remember correctly a scavenge maze like finale, cool idea but executed poorly since navigating the abandoned hotel while carrying the gas is actually hard lol. i like that the hotel was actually a real life location neat. overall 9/10 from me
