Thanks, Sausage! Sounds like some fond memories.
Sausage 23. Apr. 2023 um 4:09
Hahaha, reminds me of the Gibberish Translator we used to use to thwart chat moderators by concealing our bold arguments about [fings n stuffz]. Still got banned though.

Thank you Patrick for this mod. Nice touch.
Blue64 3. Feb. 2023 um 16:32
it's synchronized in the randomness because the mod hands it to Space Engineers, which then says "Keen told me to run this logic", and then it renders the same text to everyone because the "random" got assigned to each metadata slot on each designated cube comprising each associated object which got constructed at some point in time by someone. I think I covered every variable there.
Patrick  [Autor] 2. Feb. 2023 um 12:01
It's ... not really a question? I wrote it. :) I told you what it does.
Menos 2. Feb. 2023 um 11:15
Interesting question if the content is actually synced if it is random, or if the code is running purely client-side.
Blue64 2. Feb. 2023 um 8:46
Ah, Keen Software House, creating processing bottlenecks to increase efficiency ... poorly..
Patrick  [Autor] 1. Feb. 2023 um 21:12
The mod doesn't need to synchronize screen content, the game does that already.
Blue64 1. Feb. 2023 um 18:48
if they do everything client-side though, then they wouldn't be able to synchronize screen content, so SOME must be server-side.
Menos 31. Jan. 2023 um 9:17
Well that's what I asked first. If you do it all client side then there is zero server load, so everything is fine. :)
Patrick  [Autor] 30. Jan. 2023 um 18:18
Why do you assume mine doesn't work like that already? Your comment makes a lot of questionable assumptions. It would be easier to address your concerns in the longer format provided by Discord.
Menos 30. Jan. 2023 um 13:19
I am not sure how it is done, but this mod here runs entirely client-side: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2608746450

I think your mod could do the same and with that reduce server load to zero. While I believe that your mod has a very low footprint, multiply that by 1000 LCDs on a big server, and you still have a noticeable amount of CPU time spent.
Patrick  [Autor] 30. Jan. 2023 um 12:38
Thanks :) Load should be pretty low. There's only one executing copy of the code and it just updates the LCDs randomly. So it shouldn't be a problem. Feel free to jump on the Discord if you have more questions!
Menos 30. Jan. 2023 um 6:24
Absolutely lovely!

Asking as a server owner: what is the load this script produces?
Patrick  [Autor] 12. Jan. 2023 um 20:16
Thanks! It's one of my favorite pieces of work. This game is the fifth time I've ported it to a new platform. lol
AenesidemusOZ 12. Jan. 2023 um 20:10
This running on the LCD of an otherwise-dull PB is quiet magic. Really increases the realism. Nice work. 
Ghost42050 T-C 11. Sep. 2022 um 22:34
ok sweet thanks buddy
Patrick  [Autor] 10. Sep. 2022 um 9:29
It's just technical mumbo jumbo that you might see on a computer screen in the background of a Scifi B movie. There are screen shots that show you exactly what it displays.
Blue64 10. Sep. 2022 um 8:38
Jargon.
Ghost42050 T-C 10. Sep. 2022 um 1:20
Hi guys may i just ask what type of info does this mod give you on a LCD
Patrick  [Autor] 21. Jun. 2022 um 18:23
The answer really depends on what you actually want to know. What is it you are trying to figure out?
aversion 21. Jun. 2022 um 18:18
Is this seeded random?
Patrick  [Autor] 2. Okt. 2021 um 12:40
@sazorex, thanks I'm glad to hear that! I wrote the original code as a joke about 6~7 years ago, and I had the same reaction. :)
Phantim99 1. Okt. 2021 um 7:53
This is oddly satisfying, and really ties a bridge together.
Patrick  [Autor] 25. Jul. 2021 um 9:31
I don't know of any that exist. I could probably knock one together for you. Feel free to DM me on Discord (patrickq#8415) with the sort of information you want to see. I'm assuming you are thinking someting like this? Image [cdn2.hubspot.net]
TheDodsGaming 25. Jul. 2021 um 8:35
Do you make, or know where I can find, a version that does commodities or stocks? I'd like to have one for decoration.
Patrick  [Autor] 12. Jul. 2021 um 22:40
@Cave Lord, thank you! Sometimes you just have to keep it simple. I'm glad you like it!
Inquisitor 5. Mai 2021 um 11:23
I Wish all LCD mods were as simple as just clicking something in the scripts drop bar
Patrick  [Autor] 4. Mai 2021 um 17:23
@Sir Farts-A-Lot haha, oh man I remember that stuff! You get me at least 12 frames of ascii animation, and I'll build you a TSS for it! lol
FartyParty 4. Mai 2021 um 17:10
This is great--the only thing better would be an ASCII ART mode... anyone... anyone....? :)
Patrick  [Autor] 4. Mai 2021 um 12:41
@wildgreen1701 Thank you! That's quite the compliment!

@TroLLeX_ Thank you! I appreciate your suggestion.
wildgreen1701 4. Mai 2021 um 12:32
This should be in the game. Modders like @Patrick is why this game just gets better. As far asa separate mode that is not a problem.
TroLLeX_ 4. Mai 2021 um 12:26
This is a great addition! I think what also could be cool is if the script would show random warnings or errors in another color. Maybe only if blocks of the ship are broken or damaged. This would add some more feeling to the mod.
Patrick  [Autor] 4. Mai 2021 um 10:20
@Rubber Sword Thanks, glad to hear it!

@wildgreen1701 Yep, I've done Matrix screens in the past. That's not likely something I'd add to this, but I might make a separate mod. Great idea!
wildgreen1701 4. Mai 2021 um 8:49
This looks like a great mod, can wait to try it but I was wondering if you could make a matrix type screen.
Rubber Sword 4. Mai 2021 um 7:24
Love it.
Patrick  [Autor] 3. Mai 2021 um 21:53
@Epsilon It may be possible. When I get a chance I'll look into it. Thank you for the suggestion!
Epsilon 3. Mai 2021 um 19:32
Would it be possible to use custom data to specify a font size for this? The text is a bit small.
Patrick  [Autor] 3. Mai 2021 um 14:18
@LP Shadow Awesome!
[LP] Shadow 2. Mai 2021 um 4:52
Yeah, I already saw it and subscribed to it. Nice obfuscation by the way :D
Patrick  [Autor] 1. Mai 2021 um 18:51
@LP Shadow, I appreciate that. Btw, I published the PB script version. There's a link to it at the top of this page.
[LP] Shadow 1. Mai 2021 um 15:15
Of course I won't do it, i respect ownership :) That's the reason I asked, because I don't want to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ :)
Patrick  [Autor] 1. Mai 2021 um 13:24
@LP Shadow, yeah, I wrote the code originally as a PB script and converted it to a TSS mod, so the work is done. I just need to get it posted. And I agree that extracting it from the mod would be kinda crappy. Please don't do that. :) I'll have the script posted soon enough.

@Jackson The Red Foxo Nope, it's just a mixture of technical terms from low-level computer programming, computer networking, Linux boot sequence, nuclear facility operation, and particle accelerator operations, plus a helping of made-up Sci-fi lingo. Absolutely nothing to do with anything going on in the world.
ABlueHairedFox 1. Mai 2021 um 12:08
I get that it's supposed to be jargon, but is anything that pops up relevant to what the ship's doing?
[LP] Shadow 1. Mai 2021 um 6:22
Cool, thanks! I mean, I could extract it frrom this mod as well, but would seem unfair to me :)
Patrick  [Autor] 30. Apr. 2021 um 19:12
@LP Shadow Yeah I have it as a script as well, but I haven't published it yet. Been pretty busy. I'll get it uploaded when I get a chance.
[LP] Shadow 29. Apr. 2021 um 14:06
Could you possibly provide this as an ingame script? That way it would also work with mod-free builds :) Besides that, this looks really good!
Patrick  [Autor] 29. Apr. 2021 um 11:48
@matynipps Glad you like it!
mattynipps 29. Apr. 2021 um 9:22
This looks great, been looking for something like this to use in my builds. @Patrick thank you so much for sharing!
Patrick  [Autor] 28. Apr. 2021 um 8:02
Hey, glad to hear it! There is no speed setting, but I think I can add a config file to adjust the speed. It will affect all of them though in the game though.

I can do one that does pseudo-air traffic control statements. Do you have some source material you can send me to work from?
Skallabjorn 28. Apr. 2021 um 7:49
Skallabjorn LOVES this.... is there a setting to slow it down / speed it up by chance?

Can you do one that does pseudo-air traffic control type statements?
