Zoom To Cursor

@Pipo: it seems like ACME now implements the zoom to cursor behaviour as well (it's a setting, not enabled by default). As best I can tell it works exactly the same.

If you are keen to use other ACME functionality then you can remove this mod. I'll keep this up for users who just want the mouse cursor zoom and in case ACME becomes unmaintained which seems to happen to most CS mods over time :(
Pipo 8 Nov, 2022 @ 9:06pm
This is incompatible with ACME :(

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!
Cieramist 8 May, 2022 @ 6:04am
ah..ok. Thank you for explaining that to me. I downloaded a camera that gets me up close and personal for my detailing, and that's what I was I thinking this mod did. You guys are the best!
StayHungryStayFoolish 2 May, 2022 @ 6:30am
@Rhobium would you be kind to share the source on Github?
StayHungryStayFoolish 27 Apr, 2022 @ 5:30pm
@Rhobium thanks for the confirmation, so it is a known issue, I can live with it. This is a great mod.
Rhobium  [author] 27 Apr, 2022 @ 4:15pm
@StayHungryStayFoolish I have seen the "very close to ground" issue and the functionality also doesn't work brilliantly when you put the camera at a very shallow angle, it tends to throw the camera across the ground. Unfortunately I never found a simple solution to this
Rhobium  [author] 27 Apr, 2022 @ 4:13pm
@lovely2beme perhaps you could be more specific. the expectation is that if you put the cursor somewhere not in the middle of your screen, then scroll your mousewheel to zoom, the cursor will still be above the same place on the ground afterwards. Rather than the default behaviour where the game zooms in towards whatever is in the centre of your screen.

Is this not working for you?
StayHungryStayFoolish 27 Apr, 2022 @ 7:33am
@lovely2beme it is not about getting closer. It will get closer to your cursor.
Cieramist 27 Apr, 2022 @ 6:35am
I can't seem to get any closer with this, than I do without it. Am I doing something wrong??
StayHungryStayFoolish 19 Apr, 2022 @ 3:10am
Most visual mods are working along with each other, like in Airports DLC compatible modlist.

In the case of Zoom to Cursor, I would mention that if I am very close to the ground if I use the mouse wheel it will drop me miles away from the original point. It is not a big problem, I can live with it. Zooming to the cursor is a must. I did not do, so it is time to give an award to Zoom To Cursor mod.

> Talking about coding: do you have the source code published somewhere?

I don't but I will try to publish it soon.

> Is this one working with the current version of the game? Description says Sunset.

Yes it works with airports, I will update

> Also what other popular camera mods (Like "first person" , "camera positions" etc) would be safe to use with this?

I'm not sure. Feel free to try whatever combinations you like and report back what works and I'll add it to the description
Erke 17 Apr, 2022 @ 7:52pm
This was my favourite feature of Enhanced Zoom. Was so disappointed when I learned it discontinued.

Is this one working with the current version of the game? Description says Sunset.

Also what other popular camera mods (Like "first person" , "camera positions" etc) would be safe to use with this?

Talking about coding: do you have the source code published somewhere?

@Rhobium I am happy to add back this great mod to my modlist. I got the info from Chamëleon TBN.

Could you explain a bit more what you mean by "strange coding"? Where did you learn this?

I am not familiar with EML but based on its description, it's not obvious to me why this mod would be incompatible with it.
StayHungryStayFoolish 14 Jan, 2022 @ 11:23am
As I learned, this Zoom To Cursor has a strange coding, it is not recommended to use along with EML and its associated mods (PA and TA). ToggleIt has a great camera set update (you can zoom to the leaf of grass), but it does not zoom to the cursor. Please advise.

I just tried Enhanced Zoom Continued because BonBonB has it in his list. I don't like it. It's not as good as this is. Definitely back here.

A feature I never knew I wanted but needed it.

Now I'm hooked.
Rhobium  [author] 25 Mar, 2021 @ 11:06am
@Tomber: point and ortate is an interesting idea but I fear it would be quite tricky to implement :/

@loen: I think adjusting zoom sensitivity might be difficult because of how the zoom inertia works in this game :/
Rhobium  [author] 25 Mar, 2021 @ 11:03am
@rkumob that might be doable, yes, I'll look into it when I get the chance
Rhobium  [author] 25 Mar, 2021 @ 11:02am
@Clunk interesting. the intention is that the mouse stays in the same place on the ground when you zoom in or out. If you try google maps (or similar) on a PC you'll notice it behaves the same.

Do you find that the mod successfully replicates this behaviour or does the zooming out not work as intended for you?

I am struggling to imagine what your suggestion of "flipping the scroll out" would be like and how precisely it would work. An alternative might be to disable this mod's behaviour while zooming out and only apply the correction when zooming in. I suppose I might be able to make that an option
Clunk 25 Mar, 2021 @ 12:10am
I like this mod and it seems extremely light in terms of FPS impact, unlike other similar camera/moving mods. The zooming-IN seems perfect - The zoom direction is towards the mouse and makes perfect sense. However, the zooming-OUT feels opposite of what it should be. The viewing direction is away from the mouse position. The result of this opposing action is that to make progress across your map you need to move your mouse position from one side of the screen to the other each time in-between scroll in and outs to make progress across. An option to flip the scroll OUT to the opposite behaviour would make this mod the best available.
loen 14 Mar, 2021 @ 10:16pm
One i believe simple extra feature idea, zoom sensitivity? Im lazy and finger gets tired. Other than that flawless funtionality, i even use it to move around
rkumob 11 Mar, 2021 @ 7:26am
Is it possible to stop following cursor when following some vehicle or cim instance?
NameInvalid 14 Feb, 2021 @ 7:00pm
Nice, haven't been playing this game for years, came back and felt totally awkward with the vanilla camera tilting behavior.
Tomber 27 Jan, 2021 @ 7:49am
Great mod, love how smooth it is! Thanks Rhobium. Got a feature idea: How about point and rotate, so the camera doesn't rotate around the centre of the screen but around the cursor position?
Rhobium  [author] 18 Jan, 2021 @ 11:49am
@s593048911: I don't completely understand, do you mean that the pause menu does not work any more? I haven't seen this issue... if you temporarily turn off all other mods except for Zoom To Cursor is it still broken?
Rhobium  [author] 18 Jan, 2021 @ 11:48am
@hitzu: I will try to look into this issue at the weekend. I have some ideas, I hope I can fix it :)
爱钓鱼的路亚易 17 Jan, 2021 @ 3:21am
I subscribed to the game, how to release it after pressing ESC! That is, there is nothing on the screen, and you can't quit the game if you press any button.
hitzu 14 Jan, 2021 @ 9:34pm
@Rhobium when you try to go to saved position camera starts flying in roughly at the proper direction but miss it and go around without stopping while rotating in random directions.
Rhobium  [author] 14 Jan, 2021 @ 1:00pm
oh no :( could you describe more about the strange behaviour?
hitzu 10 Jan, 2021 @ 4:25pm
Camera Positions Utility's saved positions behave very strangely with this mod. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=898480258
Chamëleon TBN 28 Dec, 2020 @ 7:09am
@Rhobium: Yes, they work flawless together! Thank you for this mod
Chamëleon TBN 27 Dec, 2020 @ 10:49am
I'll try as soon as steam let me subscribe... atm i get only errors....
Rhobium  [author] 27 Dec, 2020 @ 8:31am
I checked the source code and I believe Zoom It should be compatible with this mod. Please try using both together and let me know if there are any issues :)
Chamëleon TBN 27 Dec, 2020 @ 7:55am
Zoom It do (not enough imho only 4 times closer ;)

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1756089251
Rhobium  [author] 27 Dec, 2020 @ 6:57am
@Chamëleon - I don't think so, I'm afraid. I can look into that as a possible feature, or try to ensure compatibility with another mod that supports it. Are there any existing mods that allow closer zooming?
Chamëleon TBN 27 Dec, 2020 @ 4:51am
@Rhobium - is it also enabeling closer zooming than the standard allows?
tribalhot 25 Dec, 2020 @ 8:54am
Thanx for this mod!
