I would love to see this updated with a new model. I dislike the one keen added, it doesn't actually last very long.

Kinda hoping the fixed block versions get fixed one day, or even reworked to be smaller since they use the gatling model.

I love this, and I hope you can find a way to overcome some of the limitations. It'd be awesome if there was away to switch the flare color without needing another gun, but I'll take what I can get. :selike:

This mod is so cool! Works fine for me it seems, and that is with 400+ mods going! (Including Weaponcore)

once i finish procrastinating probably... Most likely i will have to redo significant portion of the mod, as i don't believe Keen fixes particle generation to previous state. And i don't feel especially happy about that.
Also fixed gun is using gatling model as a placeholder... im yet to get around modelling it.
I just wish i had as much free time to do as i had as a kid... sigh.

Hello, when we can await fix? I am working on MBT and this seems nice. now gun looks like gatling gun. projectile itself fly in the air and emited light is on different place :D

the fixed guns on mobile grids are broken at the moment, they behave more like a laser pointer at the moment. Handguns are still fine.

Bug report have actually been flagged as "Awaiting Fix" now. I'm curious what will happen with it now... or rather when, as this will probably take a while...

Handheld flares are fine, by the way. Can use those for my mining in utter darkness needs.

i believe Keen might have changed how gun's particle effects work, so that they follow the block movement. Most likely so that new railgun charge effects stick to the grid and not fall behind, because they apparently also are muzzle flash effects... sigh.

Was shot from a ship. Haven't tested with the handheld flaregun since. Have started using small drones with tons of lights attached. Can confirm that enemy npc ships have the same weird interaction. Flares just flying ahead of them and mimicking their general movement.

Just to be sure i did't imagine things i dug out old videos somebody made using this mod, and flares did stay where you shot them. Apparently Warfare 2 update broke yet another thing... argh.

Hai, interesting 'bug'. The flare keeps following the aiming reticle after firing, rather than staying stationary in a single point in the air. Bit as if I've shot off a drone with extremely bright lights all around which stays a couple of hundred meters ahead of my own spacecraft. It does eventually burn out. Useful on the move, but not as useful to keep a single area lit up for the duration of a mining sortie.

flares never went down, xml mod limitations unfortunately only allow individual particles to be affected by gravity, not entire emitters.

i planned to add those long ago. I just have hard time finding enough time to spend at modding. I want to say yes, but i cant promise any timeframe for that.

i dont know if this has been asked and seeing that the last messege was on 12-septmber, but will there be a custom launcher for grids small/large, the current one is the gatling gun model and 4x1x1 is in my oppinion huge for a flare launcher

Pinniped, Chipstix213 got on a work frenzy and made handgun model for me. I'd love to find more time to work on more models myself, but not sure when that will happen given my work and other adulting stuff.

/MES.Settings.Grids.WeaponReplacerBlacklist.Add.2240369584 should blacklist the flare guns from npc's

i believe there is exclusion list in spawner settings. We were able to prevent NPCs from equiping gimmick weapons on server i play now.

i really like the idea of this mod for the player flare launcher, but the modular encounter spawns npc ships with the ship based one as a gun which is rather pointless.

any chance of getting the hand held item as separate mod?

I was experiencing very tranquil moment while standing on the roof of my moving drill rig/rover/base at night. Then a thought ran through my mind: "It would be amazing to shoot a flare to get a spot of light in this darkness" (I'm using Space Just Got Real mod). "I wonder if there's anything like this in the workshop...".

Strangely, that issue came up when I loaded it into a Creative Local game. When I loaded it onto our online dedicated server it worked perfectly and didn't need to be loaded!

This is a great idea! Literally yesterday my friend crashed his ship on our survival server and was trying to describe where he went so I could find him and we were saying that flare guns in the game would have been amazing. Best believe I'll be installing this mod onto our server asap! Please continue to update it! One thing I noticed, the flare gun points at the ground unless you aim it? This was confusing at first and caused me to wonder where the flares were when I shot, haha!

It may be possible but i need to find a work around for that. Particle emitters can't move on their own unless attached to something, and SE does not have gravity affected projectiles, so i'd have to invent my own system. Things quickly grow in complexity, and i have only couple hours a week to do stuff.

However, can you consider creating additional mod with flare effects, that also act as a decoys?
That would be super cool and will bring in new dynamics into combat, apart from just looking cool as heck

Nice effect, you just gave me cool idea. Havent tested them in space, and they look very different with no gravity.
If you want some visual effects try my fireworks mod. There is couple that could imitate short lived decoy flares. It is not quite survival friendly yet though.

my plan was to create some sort of antimissile flare effect but it really looks cool. i really like to use your mode when i rush out for an outpost in the night. well done, sir :)
