Bit later, but 7Cav isn't using US military descriptions for cover. We differentiate between cover and concealment. Barbed/concertina wire would fall into the concealment category if thick enough. But, generally speaking, usually it would simply be categorized as an Obstacle, which impedes maneuver.

Bit late, but..7Cav is confusing barbed wire with razor wire. The textures seem to show barbed wire, so I believe noone else was confused xD

anyways, I love what you do Mlie! A savior as always

"It's more about blocking vision". What utter crap. It's entire purpose is an obstacle that's cheap, quick & easy to erect & maintain. If you want "soft cover", you throw a tarp behind it.

If you've ever been in the field or on base, try looking through up to 4 rows of barbed wire. It's extremely hard to see anything past it. You might see a black lump and the last second of your life you see a gun pointed at you. Barbed wire, similar to smoke or a bush, is considered "soft cover". It's more about blocking vision than actual cover, and it makes enemies think twice about trying to push through it.

@jarrah Barbed wire does not provide cover because that is not its purpose. The purpose of barbed wire IRL is to slow and damage enemies and deter them from entering an area. Take a look next time you see a chain link fence with barbed wire along the top IRL. Neither the fence nor the wire provide "cover" but they are undeniably defensive structures.

@jarrah i believe the original page mentions provides minimal cover, which is basically none lol

@jarrah I think youd have to aske the original author about that :)

How is barbed wire supposed to provide cover at all? It's literally just a wire
Mlie  [author] 12 Sep, 2020 @ 6:45am
No, its like a barrier
Vaeringjar 12 Sep, 2020 @ 5:06am
same question as Lance, does it cause damage?
Lance Pinciotti 5 Sep, 2020 @ 6:52am
does it also do damage to those trying to cross it, as real barbed or even razor wire would
