Glad you like em, I think they were one of my first attempts to texture edit after the unit_variant_colours table was bugged out in wh2 and didn't work for a lot of stuff so I decided to go hard haha. Also made my dark elf campaign doable!
@ralonar: no prob, it turns out CA had changed something with the shading aka normal maps for the textures which was the root cause, how mischevious of them.
Anyway, I fully credited you and Decomposed!
Really love your Hydras!
terradon body 04 has a wrong path for the wing diffuse for the second lod. It's 04_diffuse instead of 04_mod_diffuse.
Just wanted to make sure that THAT is the right file to work on. Just learning the skills.
I'm looking at creating a new lord / hero for VC, then Mousillon to beef them up. And hopefully be able to get decent at it in time for Wood Elves update.
VC should be easy enough, except vamping up some faces might be a challenge!
Aside from that stay within the lines!
what are you trying to texture anyway
Hey dude, do you have a guide at all for retexturing? And which file should I be editing? Diffuse? In all honesty, I admire you for your skill but also your time doing this....I had a go and it was fucking awful! Any tips?
Can I use hydra and carnosaurus models for my mod? For summoned units I wanna add :)
I actually based them all on my favourite lizardmen dino paintjobs and schemes. the orange solar engine for example is a buddies solar engine I adore the paintjob of.
as well as a healthy dose of my favourite irl lizards :) .
I've seen dirtier colour schemes but they aren't for me. For me, in a faction of lizards with radiant blues, reds whites and greens as primary colours having a dulled scheme for their dinos would stand out more :)
I'd recommend making the variety in colors more subtle. Same example, if Stegadons are brown, make a darker brown, a lighter brown, a redish brown and maybe a brown with some interesting coloring sparsely used around the spikes.
I feel like sometimes the wildly varied bright colors backfire and might come off a little clownish. That being said, great mod and I still use it, just wanted to share some feedback in case it inspired you. Thanks!
I think the main problem is the original file used a wsmodel, not a rigid model and that's why it came out the way it did. There is only a slot for the body for war lions as well. I'll probably have to keep messing around with the file to make it work
1st one is the simplest, using the faction uniforms colours tables to create several "uniforms" for the same faction unit. that probably won't work for you though. (the welf units are reskinned this way)
2nd is outright texture replacement.which wouldn't really help your lions, as you want them to use a variant unique to them.
what you need is custom .rigidmodelv2 files. that's a little more difficult but the good news is hopefully it's easier than it was in the past haha. what I personally did was I edited the dds textures and made several .rigidmodelv2 files to reference different entities.
