Does this mod also touch the configuration of AI units? This is because the AI units have the right ratio of infantry, archers, and cavalry, but mostly use low-end units such as militia.

Interestingly, I gave the pope a small gift and it stopped. Might be your code is messing with the Papal Favours mechanic that makes it so the pope views you negatively from the start of the game? Considering the mod might handle relations. Would it be possible to make the Papal states just not be affected by the mod?

Enemy armies avoid besieging my cities but they fortify near them, any idea what can cause that ?

Keep building religious buildings to raise your favorability.. Big Chris is correct this mod was made to make MK1212 into a Total War game. You should be able to take out the Pope and the Papal States. I could make the Papal States weak so they are not a thorn in the side of the Catholic faction player.

The most game breaking thing about the excommunication feature is the loyalty penalties your faction receives. I think it's like -5 loyalty to every member of your faction until your faction leader dies.

Ingame it says "The adverse relations between you and the Papal States has lowered the Pope's opinon of you.
As a result, your Papal Favour has decreased"
But my relations with the pope are at 66, deteriorating to 60 next turn so it shouldn't be a problem.
Maybe its a weird diplomacy issue?
& Excommunication just turns the game into true total war, and makes diplomacy very difficult amongst Catholics.
Fine if you don't mind those things.
May aswell just use your other mod until this is fixed.

Well i still do not know what would be causing this. I any case the pope favor and excommunication does nothing for the game as it is just a gimmic and does not really effect the player .....so just ignore it.

I hate to say it though, but the papal favour issue still exists.
Continually decreasing until excommunication.
I'm assuming that this doesn't affect Orthodox however so it's Trebizond for me for the near future.

For anyone who wants to have similar functionality to this mod but without the papal favour issue, use Bran's Less Aggressive Campaign AI mod, or another version of this mod which may not have the issue.

UPDATE: Made Pope favor script to not appear at least it is not in the traits anymore...play test to see if it even exists.

Papal favour just continuing to drop and just being excommunicated all the time. Game breaking issue

when you say start over do you mean wait to be excomunicated then change leader ? Because half of the christian in my campaign are exvomunicated by turn 10

You need to start over. All christian faction start with full papal favor.

You do not need to remove the script. I modded it and it is included. You will have to start over.

I thought I removed the pope favor script, but I have now been excommunicated by the pope for no real reason. Does it sound like I didn't remove it or the mod has updated, overwriting my changes?

UPDATE:
Incorporated a modded Pope Favor script so all christian factions start with FULL pope favor of 10 and pope favor will go up to 20 max instead of 10. Not save compatible.

Is it not possible for you to also solve that in this mod? It would be a massive help, i'm really no expert in things like this but it seems like a simple fix, clearly just something i have no idea with.

As i Have said you have to remove the pope favor script. It is a stupid mechanic and should not be in the mod at all.

Have you increased the percentage of archers in ai army? I don't know if I'm mistaken, but with this update, the ranged portion of the AI army is now over half.

Look up "Rusted Packfile Manager" on a search engine, it is used to modify .pack files which are the mod files for total war.

Re-posting this from Witzlos for anyone who need it.

Be warned though, from my experience this completely removes the whole papal system in 1212, no crusades or elected holy roman empire.

In case it helps someone:
To delete the MECHANICS_POPE_FAVOUR script, you have to download the Packfile manager.
Then open the 1-1212scripts.pack file in the Packfile Manager (located under: Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\325610\1934544571)
The script is located under campaigns\main-attila\mechanics\pope\
Simply select the mechanics_pope_favor.lua and delete it.

Note: I don't know if their is a work around to the issue, I have tried disabling the pope favour mechanic in the file, but this seems to just screw things up, any suggestions ?
