This is a brave and extremely unique concept. Pretty much unusable for most, but whoever can use it will have a one of a kind experience. You deserve an award for doing something this insane and making it work, really truly. His effects and sounds are on point with the arcade game too. Forget boss characters and beating Ronald, this should be a genre of Workshop stuff too.

Sorry to say, but he's way too big. I can't hit anything with any of his attacks and he can barely fit on a stage. I think you need to shrink him down.

100 accurate fox or 100 accurate falco can easily combo toki, & the final destination stage is hard to walljump.

@webking321 Do you have any examples of stages where walljumping is hard? I would want to try it out to see how it feels. I might try to increase the distance his Up-B and walljump go to help with recovering, but it would only be a little extra distance. In terms of being combo'd, I don't think there's much I can do about that. I might implement something from the arcade game where if you're in hitstun and haven't been hit in a while, you essentially do an air dodge, but I'll have to test and see if that actually works out well.

toki is very great for certain combos on characters. but he doesn't dodge or air dodge because of his boost mechanic. also his size makes him a easy target to combo. recovering is also a issue, hard to walljump on certain custom stages. but he's pretty good for a mugen character in ROA.

and on the RoA discord server after this was shown people was like "WTF" how can people think this is okay

using those sprites here was a really bad idea while many can see it was and a very few having "fun" that also cant see whats is wrong

Wow, first time I've been called a "lobotmite." I guess I haven't straight up said it yet, but I'm not changing his size.

If anyone else wants to make their own smaller version of Toki, feel free to do so! That's part of what this whole modding thing is about. All I would ask is that you link to this mod as the original.

2 of his moves (both smash attacks) allow you to actually use his other moves. Admit your mistake and fix the character, you lobotmite.

Inputting a special move should be easier now. This change also fixed some problems the previous version had, so it might be too easy now. If you tried the new patch and have any opinions on this, let me know.

@Doctor Flux - Thank you for letting me know about the crashing issue. I looked into it and while it's not caused by the filesize (Ronald is larger and loads fine), it is caused by the size of the sprites. Based on what I found, Game Maker will take up chunks of memory to fit sprites onto one large image. If that image is filled up, another chunk of memory is taken out to fit more sprites. Due to this, it doesn't matter how large the files are, but how large the sprites are. Now that I know this is a limitation of the engine, I probably won't make another large character with this many sprites again.
However, it seems most of your issues with this still come from the size in the first place. I think we just have to agree to disagree on if that makes a mod unusable. Some people are having fun with it, so that's good enough for me.

find smaller sprites
and next time if you make a character dont use this big of sprites please
infact a other problem with this mod i heard the filesize is so big so it is slow loading for people and even crashes the game becuase of it
and see the filesize of this mod compare to others
even more reason why this overall was a bad idea

honestly, in a match of toki vs toki the size start to look more normal and it makes want more characters like this, it makes it look like a completely different game.

@ticho.vanhetten - Right now the timing is both buttons being pressed within 6 frames of each other, which is Rivals' default timing for a button press. I'll try increasing this to around 9 - 12 frames and see if that works well.

@Doctor Flux - I understand that me saying a character this big is designed well is a little ridiculous. While I tried to design some moves and cancels to make it easier to get an opponent off the ground, this ultimately doesn't fix how hard it can be to use some of his moves and how his large hurtboxes make him easy to combo. There really isn't a way to make him perfectly balanced with the rest of the cast. What he offers instead is a large character with unique movement, fun combos, and cool special moves. I hope you can at least appreciate that.

Just a little tip: I know you need to press both the special- and basic-attack-button to use aura, but the timing is a little PRECISLY, ya know ? I mean: NO HATE and its a great character (except his hit- and hurtboxes, that definitly needs some adjustments....) , but please make the aura- and finisher- toggle timing time a bit longer..... That's makes the character SO MUCH MORE USABLE for us beginner/intermediate players..... I REALLY hope you read this message, cuz won't you only help ME out with this problem, but also, like, I don't know, 40%~50% of the beginner/intermediate-fanbase of ROA.... Right ? Yeah ? Everthing else is 5/5 for me !! :)

i dont get people who see nothing wrong with that big of sprites
a big hurtbox = combo food, too big for small stages and vanilla characters(that you cant change)
& even possible can easy 0-death combo him as any character
its unplayable in that size &
if the hitboxes as they should and not jank like all over the body and hitboxes not weird places to be "designed" for the size
when the character punch/kicks he cant hit everyone & all super easy dodge it becuase they are so small
and if the hitboxes is not as they should and hitboxes is like all over the body and weird places
in order to hit vanilla characters he will ofc be overpowered
you cant "design" around that while being balanced and a well made mod

I appreciate you're trying to respect the Arcade Game, but it's litterally unplayable with his size :s that's a shame because he looks fun, and i know reducing his sprite will cause some problems with the sprite, but it would be a better alternative, or mabye you intend to do the other characters in that case it would be justified ^^

This is how big the original sprite is compared to the other characters. Instead of trying to resize it, I decided to design him around his size.
