Oh, my God. This mod looks really grand. It would be cool to revive it, but I'm personally annoyed by just a few sounds, so I'll be honest - I wouldn't bother with it 😄

Ahh, I see. Alright. Definitely a shame since I've been trying to make a personal one but can't find a way to get the soundpaths for the life of me...

It would be ideal to have a mute mod which can auto-detect, organize, and affect every sound in the game, but I'm currently not sure how to pull that off.

I won't be releasing any further updates for this mod, since I coded it several years ago and my projects back then were almost all tangles messes and futureproofing disasters.


To satisfy your curiosity though: This game plays sounds in a lot of different ways, and the mod only intercepts one or two of those, so a lot of sounds "slip through the cracks".

Back when I first made this mod, I wasn't too knowledgeable of the SoundEmitter metatable or how to mess around with it, which may have caused a lot of the mod's limitations.

Hey Kitty, do you know why the debug menu isn't displaying all of the sounds? Seems only biome ambient and footsteps are being displayed. Very problematic, idk if there's a fix

I'm not super sure! but if I had to guess, I'd say it's somewhere under the structures section.

It's been a few years since I last touched this mod / reviewed its code, so apologies if this is incorrect.

I found "WX_rework#33 (WX_scanner_ping2)" through using an DSB extractor and player, but the sound does not show up in the debug console in-game. Is there still a way to mute this? It's the Bioscanalyzer beeping that happens any time something scannable is nearby. Thank you.

I'm unable to mute Abigail's idle sounds (October 14th, 2022) with this mod, for anyone who might be looking here to resolve their minor annoyances.

This mod No Howls! currently works and was last updated on August 25th, 2022 (post Wendy refresh). :praisesun:

If you still check here, could you fix debug? It's not printing every sound, and I basically can't mute anything cause of it. All that prints is sounds I make and music. No enemies and haven't seen structures print anything either.

Thanks, that worked great.

I added options for the various research machines (including magic ones), celestial orb, wormholes, bird traps, and freeze creature.
That should be all suggestions that have been made so far except the mothling, which I don't feel like bothering with since i ignore pets.

It's easier to copy these sound paths if you open your client logs after collecting the sounds you want to block!

Question for you about editing in sounds myself. I see your comments about how to use the function to add in the sound I want an option for, but I don't understand how or where you find the actual file or filepath.

Looking at the existing examples, such as think tank... It looks like they're in .fev files? But as I can't see any way to open those, how do you get "turnoftides/common/together/seafaring_prototyper/LP" from turnoftides.fev in order to mute "think tank idle"?

Hi! I'm making a copy of this mod with "birdtrap_close" and "birdtrap_rustle" mute options, it would be great if those two SFX could be added to the main mod, though! My friends and I all think rustling bird traps are the most annoying sound in the game.

There's this noise happening -only in the winter season I think- whenever my character accelerates, it's kinda like the sound of wind at high speed. Frigging annoying. If possible I would like to request THAT turned off.

Hi there this is an amazing mod to find. However the only thing I wanted muted initially, was the Ice Flingomatic sound when freezing a creature. It is so flippin annoying, it's hard for me to play summer the way I want to. Please add this, thanks for the mod.

Thank you so much for this. I love taming beefalo and using farms extensively so farming poop is very important, but the constant buzzing of the flies was driving me crazy.
