@Nilserrich Nice historical misinfo. Abyssinian slave raids on the Shanquellas say otherwise.

Big Blue Dude 2. feb. 2022 kl. 11:11
CK3 version?
Nilserrich 23. dec. 2021 kl. 6:25
@mau rice
I guess Abyssinia should intentionally not be able to have slaves. First of all, they are Coptic Christians. In the Middle Ages, Christians were forbidden to practice slavery. Secondly, it is only allowed for West African cults. Abyssinia does not fall under the West African cultural group. I would have to look up the latter again.
of elrick 28. jan. 2021 kl. 16:02
It appears the slavery function doesn't work with imperial governments, atleast in H.I.P. Been playing as Coptic Abyssinian Empire, but I think it may be more likely an incompatibility with loading it mid-game or another mod.
RIFTS 30. nov. 2020 kl. 17:29
hmm, why isn't this compatible with Fearun? I moved over the files from your folder to their folder and nothing was conflicting, yet I can't get it to run together (the D&D mod)...
Stephan the Pelted 9. maj 2020 kl. 20:21
is this compatible alongside the Visit Chambers TD mod? (or any other similar ones)
Sonderistic 25. apr. 2020 kl. 14:19
any chance of compatiblity with Rise To Power?

any plans to update this mod?
Dewii 17. dec. 2019 kl. 9:05
Awesome mods dude! I really like all of them!
Poffean 27. nov. 2019 kl. 17:32
when this gets updated, can you add anglo-saxon to the list of slaver cultures? slavery in england was extremely common until the norman conquest
G.Strategos 22. nov. 2019 kl. 14:57
Not sure if it's still working but it's kinda frozen since last May. So I'll expect to find issues.
PTLANS 13. nov. 2019 kl. 20:24
Any chance of an update?
Pilatypus 8. nov. 2019 kl. 5:22
Do I have to start new game or can it be activated with existing save?
Zorelnam 21. okt. 2019 kl. 7:15
can we expect updates. Very good mod
whuchurface 28. juli 2019 kl. 14:11
I highly doubt this is working as intended but when you have over 100% fertility the chances of impregnating a slave goes down as 10% to 99% fertility have a .9 modifier while 100% has a .88, so when we're both at 100+% it's 67% chance, but if we're both 95% it's 70%
Scipio Manbini 25. juli 2019 kl. 21:15
Hello I am new to CK2, can you make the africans a slaves in this modification? I want to make countries with england and africans slaves.
HORSE 16. juli 2019 kl. 2:55
@Sowilo

Any chance this could be made compatible with https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/mod-african-religion-overhaul-restore-the-carthaginian-empire.1201989/

Its a mod for African religions on the ck2 forums, it would be a great pair with this mod due to the prevalence of slavery in west and central africa.

I think the only thing stopping it from being compatible is that they have added 3 religions into the game not present in vanilla ck2, but especially they have replaced west african paganism.

Would it be much work to make this compatible do you think? Please consider it, thank you.
whuchurface 24. juni 2019 kl. 20:51
Maybe have it so slave status can be inherited, except for certain slaves like Thralls
whuchurface 23. juni 2019 kl. 23:16
Or have different types of slaves, so you can still land some slaves like the Mamalik
Korlac11 22. juni 2019 kl. 16:01
Would it be possible to make the slave trait prevent someone from becoming landed? I just had a situation where my slave wife was given titles by my chancelor when he helped me hand out titles
G.Strategos 5. juni 2019 kl. 13:22
Not sure but is should be.
Carolus Rex 1. juni 2019 kl. 8:00
Is is compatible with 3.2?
G.Strategos 18. maj 2019 kl. 6:22
@Sowilo
Any updates for 3.1.1 ?
Cheers!
SeventhChild 24. apr. 2019 kl. 17:36
I can't seem to visit my female prisioners even when I have the "Visit in Chambers" rule on and have the cruel trait. I have tested many cultures/religions by starting new games, but none seem to work. All the other features work fine including the "poison prisioner", is there something I'm missing?
GaiusNovus2 22. apr. 2019 kl. 21:00
Hello,
I know you released an update for this on the 11th, but the slaves I purchase via the "purchase slave" option keep dying after a moth or two. No other characters die so quickly. My court size is close to 400 and I don't have any mods to reduce "pruning", so could that be it? Thank you for your time.
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 20. apr. 2019 kl. 15:48
@Ante PavelTHICC I'll take a look to see if I can safely copy this decision without modifying the original one (as I don't want to reduce compatibility), but can't give any ETA on when I get around to it. Appreciate the idea, since that makes sense and sounds like it'd be a neat addition!
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 16. apr. 2019 kl. 1:50
(And thanks, BTW!)
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 16. apr. 2019 kl. 1:50
@bluebiteydog It's not very fair to them, but it's actually pretty realistic for the Middle Ages for them to be considered unfaithful. I didn't originally intend for the adultery modifiers to apply here, but ended up seeing no reason for them not to when I noticed they did, since it actually makes sense, and especially for their husbands to hate you for both those reasons. You did cuckold them, after all, and medieval morals and ideas of marriage and purity were pretty different.
bluebiteydog 15. apr. 2019 kl. 19:02
So . . . I visited some of my female prisoners, and at least 3 of them have been nicknamed "the Unfaithful." (Which doesn't seem all that fair to them.)
Also, I got hit with two -100 penalties from their husbands (for dishonoring *and* cuckolding.)

(Don't mean to seem ungrateful- I really love your mods!)
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 11. apr. 2019 kl. 17:13
@Cooli167 Appreciate the report! Dying "overworked and exhausted" is dying from the health penalty from the Slave trait, but I'm surprised that'd happen much since it's only a -0.25 penalty to health.

I'll release a small update to hopefully fix this. It makes it so if a purchased slave's health is under a certain amount, and increases it to a more normal level if it is.
Cooli167 10. apr. 2019 kl. 11:16
The court is very small. 10-20 people. And they keep dying of overworked, or one of those pruning deaths. I don't know how to describe it besides its obvious that the game is getting rid of them. Note, I'm a reformed Hellenic(Cheated with the debug descisions and SCM), so it could be the Civilized reform I took.
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 9. apr. 2019 kl. 20:27
@Cooli167 Thanks. How big is your court, and can you tell me some of the death reasons they've had? (Such as dying of poor health.)

I'm guessing this is either something to do with the game's automatic pruning system (but it shouldn't be unless bugged, since slaves are set not to be pruned), or characters being spawned with unreasonably low health. I'll do some tests in-game myself and see if I can fix this.
Cooli167 9. apr. 2019 kl. 17:56
Buying through decision, then dying.
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 9. apr. 2019 kl. 15:49
@Cooli167 Can you clarify what you mean by this? Do you mean how slaves being sold are 'killed', or do you mean you're buying slaves with the decision and then they're instantly dying?

If it's the former, they're effectively disappearing into obscurity as another user said. I considered trying to make another system in place of this, but unfortunately the more I thought about it, the more complicated it sounded to implement for not enough gain (if it would even be possible to do the way I wanted without it seeming 'gamey' and having to implement some weird workarounds).
Cooli167 9. apr. 2019 kl. 13:00
I buy people. People there. Then, they instantly die. How fix?
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 2. apr. 2019 kl. 11:17
@solanesque Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I'll increase the piety cost and see what else I can do. Was getting back into modding the past couple days, so I plan on releasing a small balance patch soon.
solanesque 2. apr. 2019 kl. 4:58
Poison prisoner is a little overpowered IMO; as a 100% way to eliminate troublesome dynasts without becoming a kinslayer, and (I think) 0% chance of discovery. Maybe raise the piety cost, and/or a chance to get other traits than deceitful? As it is, it makes me go for mystic/scholar traits any chance I get.
Elidurden123 14. mar. 2019 kl. 17:50
@Leper TIL.
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 14. mar. 2019 kl. 9:57
@Leper King A quick look shows no serious problems (it doesn't have any slave trait overlapping with mine, for example), but I don't have time to look into this extensively until later today. I was actually interested in this mod myself, so I'll give it some playtesting later and get a better idea about compatibility!
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 14. mar. 2019 kl. 9:56
@Elidurden123 The part about slav/slave was brought up before in these comments and disputed, supposedly that is not accurate. However, the Byzantine and Roman emperors do have access to slavery because Imperial government has access.

If you have a source that even e.g strategoi and all European tribals like even the Irish and Scottish practised widespread chattel slavery in the timeframe of CK2, I'd be interested in seeing it, Tribal government is used in a lot of places and I find it hard to believe all of them would be practising slavery.

India already has caste restricted slavery, and thralldom gradually went away after the Norse converted, which I think is best depicted the way it is now. Plus for gameplay reasons, Norse culture itself is already extremely strong.
Stephan the Pelted 14. mar. 2019 kl. 4:40
How compatible is this with TMM submod for HIP?
Elidurden123 14. mar. 2019 kl. 4:11
tribal government should uses slavery too, regardless of religion. karl karling was said to have used thralls as they were used by his pagan ancestors and that he was forced to turn to serfdom at the pope's request as the pope considered them to be too pagan.
Elidurden123 14. mar. 2019 kl. 4:09
Slavery should be an option for greek cultures. greece used so many slaves that the word slave was born out of the greek way of saying slav. also, slavery was used by alot of cultures across asia an europe, the norse used thralls even after they became christian and slavery was used in india for the lowests castes. prisoner slavery was used to great effect in medieval times as well.
Sowilo  [ophavsmand] 13. mar. 2019 kl. 12:15
@solanesque Thanks for the feedback! I didn't notice this testing it when I first introduced it, but it's very possible I missed something, which is what it sounds like. I'll see if I can fix it.
solanesque 13. mar. 2019 kl. 4:31
Something I noticed about pardoned peasant leaders: while their negative opinion of their liege is removed when pardoned, the cause for imprisonment and negative opinion (effectively -100) of the liege towards the rebel remains. So, while a new, formerly heretic commander was happily doing his job, I kept getting events as if the commander was a rival, encouraging duels etc. Not a big deal for a human player, but I suppose an AI who takes the unusual step of pardoning is very likely to imprison and execute the "pardonee" shortly afterward
