Description
Adds new content to the game that can be individually toggled on and off with game rules.

New Features

Slavery

Enslave your prisoners for money or power, or selflessly free captured slaves! Members of certain cultures and religions can right click their portrait to access new decisions allowing them to sell or claim their prisoners.

Characters' education, stats, traits, and age will all factor in to how much they're worth, and if you sell enough prisoners, you might become known among your enemies for being a Slaver or Notorious Slaver.

So long as the Lowborn Elevation Game Rule is not turned off, slaves may be purchased from local counties, similar to normal employment decisions, but with a few more options.

Fully utilised by the AI.

Cultures: Arabic (Group), Persian, Han
Religions: Muslim (Group), Aztec, Aztec (Reformed), Germanic, Hindu, West African Pagan
Religious Doctrines: Civilized, Sons of Ragnarok, Totem Guardians, Bloodthirsty Gods, Religious Taxation
Governments: Imperial, Nomadic

New Peasant Interactions

For a fee, lowborn characters can be invited from local counties anywhere within your realm to join your court. You can choose whether to invite a male or female character, but education, stats, and traits are all randomised.

They will be of the counties' religion and culture, and have increased opinion of you for elevating their status... but being a commoner, may be less popular with everyone else.

Additionally, imprisoned Peasant Leaders can be pardoned and employed in your service, losing their Broken Spirit and no longer seeing you as an Evil Tyrant. Certain AI rulers might even show them mercy.

New Prisoner Interactions

Cruel rulers might choose to forcibly keep their prisoners company, or if they have the knowledge, poison them without leaving any proof of what happened.

Intended to be used as logically as possible by AI rulers (and should not be too common), and to be done as tastefully as possible, like the torture options in The Reaper's Due.

Game Rules
  • Slavery: Restricted / Unrestricted / Off
  • AI Slavery Rate: Default / Halved / Quartered
  • Lowborn Elevation: On / No Pardons / Off
  • Visit in Chambers: On / Off

Future Plans

I intend to add more content in the future as I get ideas and implement them, and as such don't consider this finished, but decided to release it right now because everything currently in it should be fully functional and complete.

Feel free to post suggestions in the comments (of course I can't promise implement everything suggested, but I'm happy for new ideas that would fit into the game), and make sure to report if you find any bugs. Feedback is welcome especially with balance.

Compatibility

Should be compatible with most other mods, including overhauls of vanilla such as CK2+ and HIP.

Compatible with the HIP submod Turks, Mongols, and Mamluks.

For modders, you can check whether Vice and Virtue is enabled by looking for the global flag mta_vv, and you can set the global flag mta_debug to enable additional debug logging to the game.log.

Credits
  • Sunset Sarsaparilla whose mod Merciless Ruler the decisions Visit in Dungeon and Poison Prisoner originated in and were heavily modified from, and permission to release my own custom versions of them.

  • coegho whose mod Invite a local the decision Invite a Lowborn to Court was based off of, and permission to release my redone version of it.

I guess Abyssinia should intentionally not be able to have slaves. First of all, they are Coptic Christians. In the Middle Ages, Christians were forbidden to practice slavery. Secondly, it is only allowed for West African cults. Abyssinia does not fall under the West African cultural group. I would have to look up the latter again.

It appears the slavery function doesn't work with imperial governments, atleast in H.I.P. Been playing as Coptic Abyssinian Empire, but I think it may be more likely an incompatibility with loading it mid-game or another mod.

hmm, why isn't this compatible with Fearun? I moved over the files from your folder to their folder and nothing was conflicting, yet I can't get it to run together (the D&D mod)...
