This is fantastic and I'm itching to get going in it, BUT....how the hell do you deploy the drills and/or the guns? I've literally hit every key on the keyboard, and it still says "Your drills are retracted" Help please someone.

This is by far my go to mining machine. It always replaces my starter tank as soon as said tank has helped me gather the resources for this one lol. Thanks for the awesome design

Designing a vehicle that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing takes a lot of time and effort, and as much as I would love to, I just don't have the available time to invest in learning this game's building meta from scratch. So it's clean and capable vehicles like this (and many, many others that you've designed) that give me examples to learn from, templates to modify, and help me spend most of my time actually playing this game. Much appreciated!

It's drilling and I see the ore numbers but when i'm done the cargo boxes are all empty???

Hey thescaryone Sorry just seeing this. the C is for cockpit, it marks that you can access the cockpit from inside the cabin :)

What is the significance of the C and the arrow in the passenger seat area? Just to say the constructor is on the other side?

I think my power issues are just game issues. Looks like thrusters and such draw power even when they're off, which is broken game design but nothing wrong with the scarab :) Long story short, however, you can't just put it into a lower power mode where you can run the constructor and "recharge" the ship.

But It's easy to take down a few tree's and keep the onboard constructor producing biofuel constantly while in operation. This produces enough biofuel to almost make it self sufficient, but not quite.

But it can easily generate a lot of extra wood, and some portion of this extra wood I throw into a single mobile constructor that I have sitting near the launch pad on my base making biofuel constantly. The mobile constructor doesn't use any power, so this produces vastly more biofuel than I need all around, and keeping the scarab fueld is now "easy".

So the scarab is great!

Hey, I'm new! Thanks much for your cool vehicle. I'm having trouble keeping it fueled. It says it's drawing 1MW even with all the thrusters and whatnot shut off. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a way to get it into a low power mode where it's just making bio fuel and running the fridges?

I am new at this game
Playing SP Survival "Robinson Protocol" and have just completed the Titan phase
I found this by watching Spanj "10 MUST HAVE BLUEPRINTS FOR ALPHA 8"

So I feel it handles well for the size and function it gives.
I got it completely stuck my first try but I feel that is due to me trying to finish mining a spot I had started by hand and I fell into the hole. I should have cut into the previous hole at an angle.

The fuel consumption is my current concern. I am still using bio-fuel. When sitting idle have tried to turn off all unneeded devices but keep the constructor running to make fuel but I can only get it to %18 so it seems to use as much fuel as it makes and I cannot catch up. I was thinking of trying to add a second constructor to keep up with fuel but I know that will draw more power and use more fuel so I am looking for advice.

think you might do a hevy armor version of somthing like this? i find i use this for reconing planets but some of the larger drons do take a few blocks out before i can down them. great little HV.

Sliger, I use this daily for mining and I have found that digging in from a 45 degree angle and making sure to swath the front left and right to always make sure the side walls aren’t too tight makes it easy. I assumed this would make mining slower but I was impressed by how much more efficiently I could get to the ore and maneuver back out

Sometimes I have to use my hand digger to make a little room to turn.

is there a way to keep from getting stuck in a hole?
I got stuck in a hole and couldn't right myself and the reverse cockpit couldn't get the HV out of the hole

Don't forget harvesters kill enemies which gives XP without ammo. Perfect for early survival in every way. There are like 10 of these in my faction it is funny looking at it on the register.

XCaliber, what an awesome HV. This is the second HV I spawn in, the first being a taxi that just shuttles me around. It's a joy to take this beast out to quickly clean out deposits. One of my favorite designs on the workshop!

Hey LordPunisher The Thrusters exposed thing is a rumor yes, but it is seeming more likely as far as some scattered dialogue that I've seen on the patch logs and forum posts. Don't have any solid links off hand i can share, but things have been said to lead me to believe its a probable outcome i want to be prepared for from the jump

Hey Boomer Thanks for all the insight! I did have the Hover Engine feature on the Small Drill PUP but opt out of doing it on this as i found with 8.0 when you spawn in new vehicles , sometimes things start of turned off. I dont want it to be too confusing for the newer or less advanced players as far as engines being off and it seeming non functional. If you wan you can seperate the engines into 2 device groups and set them to seperate Custom Toggles to achieve that :)

Thanks again for making this. I ended up keeping mine, after adding some lights and upgrading the drills to T2. It is just too handy to mow down trees on the way to a deposit, then turn it around and get the ore. I solved the problem of getting wedged I had earlier by just removing the harvester when drilling with the T1 drills. The T2 ones make a big enough hole that you don't get wedged as often. The current 8.0 build leaves crumbs of ore floating sometimes, and they can trap a drill rig in a hole. I have tried several other drill designs, but came back to this one because it has more uses. The only feature that might help would be the ability to turn off the hover pads front or back, to raise and lower the drill end. I have seen that on other builds, and it is great when it works.

What is this about thrusters needing to be exposed?
I always assumed it will happen one day, but never seen anything official about it.

Currently I cover most my thrusters with transparent slopes for extra protection (the ones that let trough air and nicely mute the bright exhaust).

Thanks again for your work on both collections. I ended up having to restart. When I loaded in, my planet was full of square, very deep holes after the patch, so I am still working my way back up to a gunship on a new world. The new build seems to spawn more creepy crawlies, so that minigun turret is great to keep them back when foraging. There are just two things that would be nice to have-
- a larger drill radius (to prevent getting wedged in a bore hole), or drills pointing to the sides maybe?
- more lights on the drill end- It can be hard to see the ore at night

Thanks for all the hard work on these collections. The stock blueprints in the game are pretty lame, but this thing is a game changer! Just starting out in the game with a few hours in a survival game in 8.0. The resources are pretty far apart now, and this makes them practical to get to. No more cold and spiders to deal with while trying to dig out some ore or saw down a forrest. I should have built this sooner, rather than building one of the stock starter SV, but its all good now. I have a serious problem though, everything in this collections looks great so I can't decide what to build next :P

hmm well it does need a bit more defence somehow my planet is filled with gludius plasmicus one every 200 meters it seems and the one turret only covers 25% or so of the ship
