I quite enjoyed playing as Hong Xiuquan and taking over all of Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa. However, I ran out of turns as I turned my sights towards North America. Do you have any scenarios for the Classic Civilization 2. I would quite enjoy playing the Taiping Kingdom scenario

Question. What does the Heavenly Hall represent?
pork bean  [author] 28 Apr, 2019 @ 6:27am
@'RotA I have! I'm still not sure fully about how to translate their military structure into a full-on "civ", but I would love to do a peasant uprising like Ikko-ikki or Yellow Turbans someday. I'm also in the early stages of planning for an An Lushan rebellion civ, since their declared "Great Yan" dynasty fits very nicely into a political entity.

Thanks for your kind words, really glad you enjoy the mod. Taiping is one of my personal favorites too :)

This might be my favorite modded civ. The civ's uniques fit together so well, both in theme and gameplay, it might as well have been an official civ.
Though that is also true of your other civs. You have a talent for making civs feel balanced and coherent, while still being unique. ^^

By the way, since you seem to be familiar with the Three Kingdoms era(going by the art for this civ), have you considered making a civ based on the Yellow Turban rebellion?

@BroRyan Hope you enjoy it! It's just been updated with new music & a cleaned-up civ icon, but shouldn't affect save games :B1:

I re-downloaded Steam just to play as the Taiping Kingdom. Really glad you made this civilization for Civ 5. I'm using a second hand laptop, so I'm really hoping to be able to play as Hong Xiuquan and the Taiping Kingdom!

Really nice for them to come with their own religion.
I like the concept of those obscure states/civs, i wonder what else may come.
(How about the Münster rebellion of 1534, or Baron Sternbergs Mongol "Khanate")?

ohhh understandable
pork bean  [author] 18 Jun, 2018 @ 3:53pm
@nekitb They upgrade to Tanks! You should be able to upgrade them once you have oil and combined arms
Billy Pol Pot 18 Jun, 2018 @ 12:03am
AAAA YOU DIDNT MAKE THE DEMON-SLAYERS UPGRADABLE. I saved like 10 of them for when I am able to upgrade them to anti-tank guns...

@pork bean: Cool. Keep up the good work!

@JELEEN One for Gold and one for Faith, right? The intention was to make the DS expensive to build or purchase with Gold, but slightly cheaper to purchase with Faith. Unfortunately the way I implemented it made it available to all civs using Faith.

I put out the update for it yesterday. It's still cheaper to buy with Faith, but should require the Holy Warriors belief like a normal pre-industrial unit.

@Everyone Thanks for all your comments! Hope you're enjoying the civ. This has already been my most popular submission so far. Working on Quilombo dos Palmares at the moment, as well as a few graphical updates for Ezo and Sonora.
JEELEN 14 May, 2018 @ 9:37pm
@pork bean: OK. Also, first time playing with Hong I noticed there are actually TWO Demonslayer units with a different buy price, but identical stats. Naturally I bought the cheaper version. ;)
pork bean  [author] 12 May, 2018 @ 11:57pm
@JEELEN Good catch! Looks like other civs with a religion are able to purchase the Demon-Slayer. Will work on a fix shortly.

The single-unit formation is to make it feel a little more unique. Hong's Demon-Slaying Swords were expensive and more symbolic than anything; I felt like if he got a chance to use them they would have been more like "hero" units and not something he could issue whole platoons with.
JEELEN 12 May, 2018 @ 9:41pm
@Soron: Playing as Tunis, I can buy Demonslayers. Also, why does the Demonslayer have a single-unit graphic?
JEELEN 11 May, 2018 @ 11:53am
@Soron: Finally got it to work... interesting civ. Good job!

@pork bean

Amazing. I have a request, though. Could you make a civ staring NORTON I, EMPEROR OF THE UNITED STATES, PROTECTOR OF MEXICO?!
露滴麦浪摇 8 May, 2018 @ 10:27pm
All is English, look not to understand.QAQ
JEELEN 8 May, 2018 @ 10:25pm
@Soron: Thanks. Unfortunately, now the mod is in my list, it doesn't show in playable civs if activated...

Subscribed! Personally, I find the Taipings to be fascinating.
JEELEN 7 May, 2018 @ 2:32pm
@pork bean: Any chance of a diret download? Mod is not showing in my list after subscribing.

(This has to be your most interesting yet. What a time!)
troodon25 7 May, 2018 @ 9:25am
The colours seem rather similar to MC’s Tibet, and Lebanon.
grant 7 May, 2018 @ 7:50am
@nicovallejos He looks just like a chinese jesus, so what's the problem? I don't think you could expect anybody to find a high quality picture of the real Hong anyway. As long as the design is fun and interesting to play, which this mod provides, you should be happy with it.
nicovallejos 7 May, 2018 @ 7:01am
Zhuge Liang, eh? Hardly. This must be a picture from the Three Kingdoms period...

And for a Demon-slayer, this pic must be Guan Ping too...
Iamavalidname 7 May, 2018 @ 6:26am
love these failed civs you put out!
Keep it up!

Congrats for the release!
