My best teacher was trial and error, but I'm certain there are some useful JSON and LUA tutorials online. If you're in the Starbound Discord server, there should also be plenty of people to help you take your first steps into modding the game!

Hey, really good mod. My only complain is that Pistols can't be modified with the "Weapon Assembly" mod because they lack the "body" part.
I know it may be too much to ask for a fix, but I figure I should at least let you know so you put that mod into the incopatibillities part. (Everything works fine, its just the pistols that cant be assembled nor disassembled).

I haven't tested it, as I'm not actively modding Starbound anymore, but as long as the update hasn't drastically changed the way guns are generated it should be perfectly fine.

red3dred is right, FU also changes the same items, which means one will override the other. Either you get my guns without FU's stat changes and abilities, or you'll get their guns without my stat changes and abilities. My textures will still appear in that case, but you'll have guns with incorrect base offsets and muzzle offsets, meaning you might hold guns strangely and bullets will be coming out of the wrong area of the gun. I might make a full FU patch someday, but in the meantime I recommend the compatibility version of Starbound Weapon Overhaul if you're using it alongside Frackin Universe.

@MerekiDor From what i understand; FU weapon types (Flak Cannon, Sawed-offs, SMG's) don't get abilities or effects from this mod and weapons from the normal pool (Assault Rifle, Shotgun, etc) might not generate with FU secondary abilities.

That and the fact that the FU weapons look like a f'ing mess after installing this.

This mod doesn't edit anything at all regarding the treasure pools. All it edits are the weapons themselves. Weapons will still spawn in all the same containers they used to, and as long as Elithian Alliance doesn't edit the randomgen weapons (which I'm fairly certain it doesn't) they should be perfectly compatible. The treasure pools can be finicky though, it could be that you're just having a streak of bad luck. I recommend you continue looking on other planets.

Woud you know if this is incompatable with the Eilithian Alliance mod? I'm trying to make sure but havent found a single randomgen gun. The NPC's have them but none have shown up in crates on planets......

Can you also rebalance legendary guns? They feel a bit underpowered compared to weapons from this mod thanks to their old stats which were nice in original game but feel weak with this mod.

Hmm, i can assure the abilities are yours, and so are the names. Like, a Flak Cannon with a custom " slow homing rocket" that doesn't follow the cursor, instead it actually follows the laser pointer, so i can't just make rockets turn around corners, yet they do indeed have Cosmic, Shadow and Radiation elements. I can't explain this, but i guess it just works... (Praise Todd Howard). I might not have the FU special weapon abilities, but i don't miss "Globe Launcher" nor "Shatter Cannon".

Anyhow, i understand that making a compat patch is a slipper slope where once you start with one, you give the opening for people to ask for more and more, i'm okay without a Compat patch, but just saying, i think my game might somehow be a perfectly fine working mix.

EG's of the compat: Cosmic Machine Pistol, Shadow Shotgun/Rifles, Flak Cannons with custom abilities...

You're likely not encountering as many incompatibilities as you otherwise would be because Frackin' Universe is taking priority over my mod. If my mod had a higher priority than FU, guns would be missing all the elemental effects added by FU, their names would be different, and they would be lacking all of the stat changes FU makes, such as crit chance or new special abilities. As it stands, it sounds like only the new weapon sprites took priority. I'd recommend using the compatibility edition instead of this one, just to be on the safe side. I don't plan on making a Frackin' Universe patch.

So... i've been using this with FU for a while now, yet i'm not sure what are the actual compatibilities other than possibly changing the ability pool... I mean, other than short-barreled shotguns, i've found pretty much all FU weapon variants, and they seemed to, for the most part, pull from the Overhaul weapon sprites.

Anyone know of the specifics of that, or has more to report on the topic?

should add miniguns, the longer you hold the button the faster they fire. low base damage but high fire rate and low energy used.

None specifically modeled after it, no. But I am working on another Starbound project that adds a couple of bullpup rifles with similar design. Keep an eye out for it soon.

Its legendary rarity and the name is RL-Rapid Mk 1
VERY usefull in mech areas so if anyone finds it.

There are no unique weapons added by this mod. The one new rocket launcher ability, Micro Missiles, has a random chance to appear on any common rocket launcher generated with this mod. If you can't find a rocket launcher with the ability, just turn on admin mode and spawn the item commonrocketlauncher until you find a variant with Micro Missiles.

Maybe you could down scale the weapons a 25% more, give them more detailed/custom muzzle flashes and have the characters carry their guns with a more relaxed/close pose like Lyetzi's mod. This would make this mod moar purrfection!

It hasn't been implemented yet. I ran into a small technical complication that slowed my progress. I'm considering just redoing the pistol sprites to use three parts as normal, but it might be a while before I get around to it.

As far as I can tell from that mod, it only adds new (and extremely impressive) weapons instead of altering the existing ones. They should work fine together, unless it makes some big modification to randomgen weapons.

Are you saying you uninstalled and it broke, or are you asking if it would break if you would uninstalled? It shouldn't be a problem, but trash any weapons with the new custom abilities before unsubscribing to be safe.

Soo it looks like your a skilled modder. Could you reMod in the bone hammer, bone axe and that slave sword (heros sword) ive tried looking for mods on them already but I cannot find then, I also tried to create them myself but I am an inexperienced spriter and coder so it didnt work, So the last option I had was to ask someone who has already modded in weapons. So if you could remake these weapons please do, i have big hopes
