I solved it using 4+1 = 5 but other solutions was easier!
So I explain mine:
Step 1. Get to the taller stage. It has 4 units height. set a portal on the foot of the other stage and one below the stage you're standing.
Step 2. Do not jump (This gives you some more height and results in a final height of more than 5). Simply fall on the portal below your foot.
Step 3. Now you should be quick! Fire a portal on the ceiling and one on the floor of the new stage
Step 4. Get into the portals.
Step 5. now you will fall 5 units as soon as you get to the floor of that stage again. But again before going into that same portal for the second time shoot a portal on the floor of the hall to avoid hitting the ceiling.
Step 6. Now move the other portal to the same floor.
The rest is obvious!

instead, jump out and away from the ledge so that you enter the floor portal at a slight angle
which gives you a slightly higher arc (and distance) at the exit portal. :))
