Thank you for making this mod, i consider it a must have mod if it were up to date.
Sorry for your experience :(
It's been 6 years since I wrote this mod, and 3 years since I last touched it, so there isn't much I can do for you.
I heard there is a "barbarian" game mode or DLC which was released, which modifies how barbarians work, and interferes with this mod. If you have it enabled - you can try disabling it, and see if it helps.

I could send you my modlist if you want but i honestly don't know how they could affect this game when disabled and also you go into the mod menu, back, then in again, and then back again that we used to have to do in beyond earth.
Please read the Q&A
I have no way of testing if it works with GS.
Feel free to check and let me know.
The mod however changes very basic values within the game, and there is a good chance they have not changed in the new DLC.
So most likely it's working with Gathering Storm.
Playing without any other community made mod.
Using every officially released additional content.
1. Check it is active by pressing 'esc' mid-game, and checking if it appears in the list of mods.
2. Are you using the DX12 version of the game?
As you can see in the screenshots, my units continued to gain normal experience up to lvl 4, and beyond:

Have you enabled the mod from within the game (Additional Content screen)?
Do you see other user mods in your mods list (when you hit Esc)?
Are you playing the regular or DX12 version of the game?
Can you think of any non-standard configuration your game might have?
I have found something odd though, when I hit Esc in the drop-down menu for added content this mod doesn't show up. May it be something with the download?
In any case, there is no official moddng support, so everything needs to be done through trial & error.
One solution would be to add the Barberian XP values into this sql files, if needed to keep both.
Im just sloppy and changed the game core file :/
But your xml pointed me to what game xml I need to change. Added <! to this mod's xml, and now it works.
Im guessing a mod conflict. I'll look into that later. Thank you
Did you check disabling all other mods and starting a new game?
