Aah, THAT one ... yes, sure - it's by design! Would be too easy else ;P
Geneosis 28 Feb, 2013 @ 12:30pm
Yes that's it : when you take the companion cube, the path you used to enter the spiral is closed and you have to find another one to exit ^^
Rei  [author] 28 Feb, 2013 @ 12:16pm
Yep, I was wondering but, I am still wondering what you really mean :)
Maybe the way out of the outer end of the spiral?
Geneosis 27 Feb, 2013 @ 3:45pm
Yep, I found it ^^ And I just read again my comment and noticed that the angled panel was not on the floor but on the ceiling of the maze X)
Rei  [author] 27 Feb, 2013 @ 2:36pm
At least, you've found the exit anyway - didn't you? ;) Maybe you find other chambers more like your style.
Thanks for testing!
Geneosis 27 Feb, 2013 @ 6:16am
Well, again maze-style puzzle, but this time getting in what order you should do thing was easier ;) Also better way to see what does each button, but still some hard to find actions : for exemple if I didn't notice the angled panel on one square of the floor in the maze, I could have spend endless time to find the exit after taking the companion cube X)

@buff00n: This is also an early puzzle; so many ideas were flowing into my head and they've had to be built. Reading through the comments, you'll get a few more ideas on how I built what and why, like the speed gel.
I am not sure, if you want to nettle me (in a nice way), but I would recognize a bowling lane, when I see one. And you wouldn't have had to wait the full time. Congratulations anyway in finding out the right timing between the door and fizzler for the sphere - this really wasn't intended and barely to bear by other players, I believe. Getting on the first faith plate, rather should have lead you backwards, if you continue into the high room ... although you were able to reach the first cube, that you see, earlier.
I've already started a chamber with a great Idea in such a room with holes - maybe I'll be going to finish it now, as you liked this one in here so much.

Continued.

I'm not sure what the laser field area in the sphere room was for; I never used it.

The labyrinth was kind of tedious, once I finally found it. It was mostly just one long hallway. That's a lot of walking, or taking shortcuts with portals.

I didn't use the speed gel. With almost any portal surface in the big room you can adjust your fall so you fall through a portal surface on the floor, giving you more momentum than you would have gotten with the speed gel.
buff00n 13 Feb, 2013 @ 8:57pm
Some interesting ideas here, but kind of feels unfocused.

I did like the big room with portal surfaces and mysterious holes in the walls. You could do a whole puzzle with just that.

I was able to get to the faith plate right away by using a portal halfway up a nearby wall and some momentum. Then I could carefully drop down and get into the room with the holes in it.

Getting one of the spheres out by timing it to go through the hole before the door closed but after the fizzler deactivated was pretty cool, but the 30 second wait was annoying.

A little misunderstanding: I added something like a labyrinth in BFI now, which isn't in fact.
And if you were scared by the crushers, I make a note here: huge success! ;P
Ebbzylon 10 Jan, 2013 @ 10:29am
BFI did not felt like a labyrinth to me. There were plenty of puzzles along the way to entertain me :-)
The only section I disliked in it was the crushers area, so no, I did not pay much attention as I was running scared, throu there! LOL
Rei  [author] 10 Jan, 2013 @ 10:27am
Yeah, and I did my best, to make the labyrinth as small and antlined as possible for people like you :)
Next "labyrinth", is not worth to be called a labyrinth in your faved " Back from Infinity ". Although you played it already, it may be worth a second look now after the update. There's a new (easier) way and a "Ninja mode" (read description) added!
Did you even check up the floor closely in the crushers hallway?
Ebbzylon 9 Jan, 2013 @ 4:59pm
OK. Without the labyrinth part, this would have been much more fun (for me...it's a personal thing, I do hate labyrinths.) :-P

No worries, it is just a style mismatch. Your other maps were much more to my liking, so I'll go try another one :-)

cheers
Rei  [author] 1 Jan, 2013 @ 8:48am
Congratulations! You are the first, who successfully used the gel! Well, I mean, used the gel at all to escape ;)
Exiting the large black chamber isn't easy, but always possible with the right momentum, hitting the right hole. As you have experienced, it was a blind alley in this direction, but it isn't one-way.

Cheers!
Aardvark00 1 Jan, 2013 @ 6:21am
Got there without cheating but I know now I didn't do it all as intended I think.
I enjoyed the bowling a lot but I'll just mention that I'm another who hates mazes, especially dark ones. Never mind, the rest made up for that.
I also used a portal fling to hit the island faith plate and then dropped down from the top level and side stepped into the tunnel containing the weighted cube.
From here I was able to portal into the large black chamber. This needs to be stopped because I was trapped. Started again.
Then I found the way into the core chamber complete with sphere. Fortunately laid gel around edge track before losing access to sphere and gel dropper.
After maze used gel to generate fling across black room and back into first room with companion cube. Exit smiling :)

ok
Rei  [author] 21 Dec, 2012 @ 3:13am
I like how many xtra solutions you found to get to the first cube. So if one get this, even without faceplates, is welcome for not having to go around twice! :)
I'm GLaD you had to bowl now! ^_^v And no, just running out fast and catch it will do the trick. :)
The light bridge is decoration. :)
Thanks again!
mood3rd 20 Dec, 2012 @ 5:05pm
just tried the begining again:
3 of these screenshots show where I placed portals, to get to areas in unintended ways.
(if you want to fix)

your glass stopped where I previously placed a portal.
but I used the entrnce area to get to the faithplate with goo around, this time.
can also use portals to get the 1st cube.
though I had to use bowling, to get the sphere this time.
maybe it could get caught by a funel, to avoid loosing it ?
I forgot about the light bridge. does it serve any purpose ?
hope this helps :)

your welcome.
I am glad it helped you improve your map :)
Rei  [author] 20 Dec, 2012 @ 3:21pm
@mood3rd: I played through again and now I got the idea, what you meant and I had to update the spheres room - removed decoration, forcing to bowl. Made it more difficult with the faithplates, but if you still skilly enough to use them and able to go backwards just a little bit, then you are allowed to go through the chambers just one time instead of twice. So there is (and was) a built-in skill bonus. :) Honestly, I was blind and not aware of the one, using just one faithplate :)
The Gel you still can use to mark one place in the upper core spiral-floor, before dropping the second sphere, to get out faster. So thank you for helping a lot :)
Rei  [author] 20 Dec, 2012 @ 1:55pm
This map is a compilation of different puzzles.
I'm GLaD you like the bowling room - although you seem to dislike bowling :( ...I think I have to change something there!
The faithplates as a left over, were originally designed to be a puzzle, but cut out because of too many ways or shortcuts else. Now just a nice decoration and only a 'little' meander. Sorry for that. ;)
The speed gel was more for fun, as the white room was morelike meant to be a lil playground, with one hole in the ground as a shortcut to the core. The Gel as real needed indicator (to save from needless running back and forth) was later used in my 'Splash indicator'.
I'm sorry, you dislike mazes, but it's really not a big one (you could noclip to see it once finished) and I see, the antline for orientation was very helpful. :) Using portals to speed through, you only can use in the upper level of the core.
And ... eventually finished? It shows that you did it! Congratulations! ^_^v
mood3rd 20 Dec, 2012 @ 9:27am
I spent a lot of time in the core getting disorientated & frustrated.
not a maze fan, so this may be great, I can't judge, as don't like mazes.
not as frustrating as some glass ones though, & antlines helped orientation.
walked a lot, as placed portals, again for orientation.
so could not use them much to speed through the maze.
discovered the way I had come had been blocked by a panel, nearly gave up.
but eventualy finished:

I portal flinged onto the 1 faithplate with goo around. no other ones needed.
so the panels hiding the other 1 that is supposed to take you there, not needed.
I used portals to get to that 1 early, when panels still up.
went up to large chamber early & tried every hole in the wall.
got into all of them, waste of time, got frustrated.
but at the end I knew where I was when I got there, from inside the core.
the area the spheres are was more interesting.
but I did not use the portable area past the laser field.
I never used the speed gel.
Rei  [author] 18 Dec, 2012 @ 9:32am
The long bright tunnels can quickly be ported through from corner to corner (and the dark ones aren't so long). Or you can use speed gel. (Damn, now I see that would have been a hard riddle for the core deep down!)
And for one corner (hope you remember) you shall be stumped if the way suddenly seem to stop for a second :)
Thanks for enjoying this map! ^-^ Hope to see you soon at another one!
stormsend 17 Dec, 2012 @ 4:16pm
I was challenged by the difficult puzzles right up to those long dark tunnels. I enjoyed having to solve each one but it did seem somewhat tedious having to explore every corner of every dead end and walk a mile to do it again. I think it could have been just a tad smaller. Just my opinion. Thumbs up.
Rei  [author] 10 Dec, 2012 @ 12:17pm
I'm sorry daloboy! I'm fond of (not too big) mazes and proud of this map, as the lighting alone was a big challenge for me.
If you dislike this chamber, I would appreciate if you try another one. And NOT - I repeat: NOT the "PortCube" for your own sake! Thank you!
daloboy 10 Dec, 2012 @ 11:11am
Reiman: I really really don't like maze! I did find the last hidden cube, but felt no pleasure, for all the walking in dark corridor....sorry.
Tartiflette3000 8 Dec, 2012 @ 9:26am
I'll try ^^
Rei  [author] 18 Nov, 2012 @ 1:20pm
Yep, you are right with the first two catapults. They originally were a kind of idea, but now just a leftover, I used to show someone nosy the top of the map (and therefore the wrong way - and sorry, I'm GLaD it already worked for the first candidate). ;) So you have to find the way out of the other room. Your "cheating in" through the gap was no issue at this point, but I had to fix it for later, to give something there a sense - thank you for that hint! And as there is no second box to climb up backwards, I wonder if there was just o n e tilting Glasspanel?)
Xindaris 16 Nov, 2012 @ 7:37pm
Yeah...Even using noclip to view the entire level I have no clue how I'm supposed to get out of the first couple of rooms. I was able to get 2 spheres and a box into the first room, the former by "cheating" into the room where the two spheres are, since you set up a glass-panel door but the angle it's at still allows the player to shoot a portal through the crack at the top; and the latter by some clever jumping. It looks like the intended way to move forward is to go up from the area where the cube was, but that's impossible to do unless I had 2 cubes, which is what's needed to jump up a 1-tile height. Also, the pair of catapults in the first room appear to serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever. One of them tosses you at the other one, which then tosses you way up into a room with no purpose and nothing to interact with at all
