Quests
Vanta Intro Quest - UPDATED
The following changes have been made to the Vanta intro mission:
  • The PocSec that show the elevator code to the Operations Room has been updated so that the proper digit is shown
  • Stat resistance and blocks have been added so that it is impossible to die during the mission
    • Death during the intro mission, regardless if it's this mod or the default or other races, glitches story/mission progression and the 'Boot Ship' quest never starts without the use of admin mode. Thus, you can take pseudo-damage during the mission, but it is now impossible to actually die without the use of the /suicide command
  • Updated images/colors for prop doors
  • Fixed a scripting issue where skipping the intro quest forever stalls progression and triggers a radio message from the intro mission while on your ship

Items
Starter Items - UPDATED
The following changes have been made to some starter items:
  • Weathered Gunblade
    • Updated image(s)
  • Weathered Grimoire
    • Updated image(s) and associated frames files for more organized parsing
    • Primary attack has been changed from 'Grimoire Shooter' to 'Plasma Barrage'

Recipes
Vanta Iron Spatha
Improperly classified as tier 2, reclassified as tier 1 and was properly re-added as a default recipe for Vanta characters

Galatyn
Default recipe was not added properly, causing a break in weapon upgrade sequence for Vanta characters

Stealth Dagger Variants
Removed as a default recipe but will be acquirable via other means in a future update

Vanta Saber
Removed as a default recipe but will be acquirable via other means in a future update

Update: 24 Jul, 2021 @ 5:48pm

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ
Due to retooling of the extra biome, there's a high probability that this will break the universe files again. Additionally, I have removed Ztarbound as a core integration and kept only certain pieces of it, but reintegrated those pieces in a way that will not interfere with other instances where Ztarbound would be used.

INTEGRATIONS DISCLAIMER
There may be integrations from other mods that were incorporated here. These integrations were done based on permissions granted at the time. If you are the owner of the original mod(s) from which those integrations were derived and decide you do not want them integrated here, please reach out to me ASAP so that I can remove them.

Vanta Race Release Notes (v.2.0.0)

I am pleased to announce the next major update for the Vanta Race mod! The groundwork has officially been laid for a new adventure as a Vanta character, and as always, I'll be working to add more content. Below is a list of updated items separated into specific categories.

Quests
Intro Quest
A new, custom intro mission has been added to establish the disposition of the Vanta, and by extension, Nightar races, and their dissociation from the Protectorate. However, Vanta characters are currently still tied into the main story and will have special dialog in certain points of the story.

Nightfort
The Nightfort quest is in the process of heavy revision, and will be available in a subsequent update.
  • Additional quests are also in the works, though I am still in the process of determining the specific prerequisites for them.

Items
Starter Items
- A new array of starting items is made available through the custom intro mission:
  • Weathered Vanta Saber
  • Weathered Weathered Dagger
  • Weathered Pico Handgun (formerly: Weathered Sidearm)
  • Weathered Bangle
  • Weathered Grimoire

Weapons and Armor
Much like the previous version(s), there will still be tiers 1-6 armors and weapons. There is currently no branch options for Accelerator, Manipulator, or Separator variants. This may change in a future update, depending on whether or not I can find the time to come up with new designs.

Crafting
New items are available to craft, and while some are made available with this release, they may not be immediately usable. Some existing recipes have also been adjusted.

Additional Items
An Essential item has been added:
  • Personal Monitor: A portable tablet to help manage your techs, questlines, mech configuration, and codex entries

Dungeons
Warp Citadel
Warp Citadels are rare occurrences on Midnight planets. While they do have functionality in place, they are currently unusable due to lack of access to a particular item that can only be bought at a new outpost instance (to be properly implemented next update).

Proxima Moons
Proxima Moons (formerly "Blackened Moons") are retained as biomes. However, they no longer appear within any solar system naturally, they can only be accessed through warp citadels (see above)

Miscellaneous / Other
Codex Upgrade
The high-fidelity codex engine, created by Eti, has been integrated. Like the integrations of the Ztarbound bits, it's done so in a way that there is no conflict between mods.

Default Codex Entries
Vanta codices have been revamped once more, and can be accessed through the High Fidelity Codex.

Techs
Vanta characters have access to new tech lines through quests:
  • Stealth Tech - A two-tier tech line that causes the player to vanish from monsters and NPCs. The initial quest also has a training instance.
  • Vanta Sphere - A three-tier tech line that adds offensive capabilities and combines certain other spheres into a single sphere.
  • Wall Jump - A three-tier tech line that improves upon the Wall Jump tech; first upgrade slows sliding by 50%, final upgrade stops sliding altogether.

Vanta Ship Fix
There was an unknown bug with the previous iteration of the Vanta ship where a certain upgrade point would cause the shipworld to be broken. This release uses a variant of SubmarineKnight's Stinger Ship and resolves the issue.

/Weathered Sidearm Fix
Previously, the Weathered Sidearm was unobtainable. This has been made available through the intro quest and has been renamed to Weathered Pico Handgun.

Planned Development In Progress
Nightfort Completion
The Nightfort mission will be the introductory mission to additional quests beyond the scope of the main storyline. Completion of the main storyline will not be required in order to access the quest, but WILL require higher-tier weapons and gear.

Vanta/Nightar microdungeons and villages
Self-explanatory, really.

Rail Cities
I added an automated rail hook-like item that rides rails at a set speed and doesn't require you moving downward to gain speed. I haven't had a practical use for it, but I plan on changing that in a subsequent update with the introduction of rail cities and/or missions that require use of the rail rider.

Research
An integration from ZB, but this will be specific to Vanta characters and done in a way that actually makes sense.

Update: 11 Mar, 2020 @ 11:35pm

The Nightars, brought back as the Vanta. A lot of the older Nightar stuff is included for historical/nostalgic purposes, as well as for additional content! (Because of older assets carried over, this mod is currently incompatible with the original Nightars mod, as well as FU due to the assets having been merged into FU itself)

New in version 1.0

  • Nightars Rebirth Project re-established (Vanta Race introduction)
  • New and updated armor sets and weapons for Vanta (Nightar Armor sets remain for Nightar NPCs - future update)
  • Updated Nightar/Vanta lore (codex)
  • "Ran's Castle" assets removed/no longer craftable; Ran is now an NPC who appears after the Erchius Mission and will appear at the base of the steps leading down to the Ark (Currently, just a static NPC; this may be changed in the future.)
  • Many Nightar/Vanta objects and materials are now craftable
  • Ztarbound integration for Vanta-specific progression (research)
  • New Biome: Black Moon - Ocean-like satellite body with freezing rains and an abundance of Liquid Ceruleum, which is used to craft Ceruleum Fuel cells
  • New natural resource: Dark Fragment - Can be found on all planet types (except Moon), more abundant in higher-tier planets
  • New custom ship - Moved away from Glitch-based ship to Iroaseta's Industrial Corvette Ship

Planned Features
  • Make better use of the New SAIL's quest window
  • Custom Intro mission for Vanta characters
  • Revamped Nightfort mission
  • Make Ran more useful
  • Vanta-specific mech starter and upgraded body
  • Vanta-based story expansion w/new missions
  • Nightar/Vanta-based settlements
  • RAIL CITIES

Update: 31 Jul, 2018 @ 11:41am

Fixed a few things that I missed in the last update; the quest for the Nightar Blade full upgrade and Nightfort quests have been fixed. The Nightfort Mission is acquired from Esther after defeating The Ruin, and the Nightar Blade quest is obtainable from the Baron after completing the Nightfort Mission.

Some other things I fixed/added:

A lot of the furniture has the fancy blue light trim, but doesn't appear to 'glow' (fullbright); his has been fixed with many furniture objects.

I modified the Tier 5/6 armorsets to have augment slots; I had to create a custom tooltip for inventory view to reflect this. However, I forgot to create a respective itemdescription tool for viewing in the Nightar Replicator, which was causing crashes. This has been added, but I will need to fix it so that it's not so jumbled.

Added a Nightar Katana with five variants and alt abilities:
* Katana - Physical/No element, "Blade Charge"
* HeatBlade - Fire, "Kunai Blast" (yes, I know it's recycled from the Solus Katana)
* FreezeBlade - Ice, "Trail Dash"
* ElecBlade - Electric, "Blink Explosion"
* PoisonBlade - Poison, "Flurry"

I'm working on some new, comprehensive content. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU ALL: Unless something drastic comes up, like something has become crippling to gameplay, it will be another while yet before I post an update. I plan on making my next major update the official v1.0 release of this mod so that it can be considered the 'milestone' update.

Update: 21 Jul, 2018 @ 12:35pm

Well, after a long, hard-fought battle, I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.

A user who downloaded the .pak directly from the forums was kind enough to point out the issue for me. As it turns out, it WAS a duplicate material ID, but NOT in this mod; the owner of another mod didn't have their material IDs registered on the official Starbound wiki, and our mods were using similar ID ranges.

The good news is that the material IDs have been updated in this mod to resolve that issue.

The bad news is, you're going to have to wipe your Nightar characters' shipworld(s), unless you fancy dirt for walls and flooring. The same thing, regrettably, is going to happen to any structure using the previous material IDs.

This unfortunately cannot be avoided, but was necessary so that it can now be loaded properly.

tl;dr = shit's updated, wasn't my fault.

Update: 20 Jul, 2018 @ 2:36pm

Okay. I'm PRETTY SURE I've nixed any and all WIP/unnecessary files this round, so if there's an issue still with the 'scorchedcityfridge' or duplicate material exception, I'm going to punch a brick wall.

Some things to note as of this update:

* I fixed a parallax error
* The Nightfort Mission is available once again; this time, you can acquire it via speaking to Esther after successfully completing the Ruin mission. It now works the same way the other missions do, complete with cinematics (Nightfort itself has a custom artifact cinematic)
* You should be able to 'repair' the Broken Nightar Blade after it's been acquired at the Nightar Replicator, which you can then take to the Baron at the Outpost to have it empowered
* Added a couple of new materials (and made DAMN WELL SURE that there are no duplicate IDs) as well as a new object, the Nightar Stasis Pod, all of which can be found via Ran's Castle

Update: 12 Jul, 2018 @ 3:29am

Quick fix; there was a rogue comma in the nightar.species file that's been thoroughly assassinated.
