America the Beautiful

Description
  • B17 was removed and replaced with Ranch. America doesn't need a unit that comes so late-game that it doesn't matter, what it needs is a unique building that complements its panel purchase cost reduction, because normally that part of America's trait was unimpressive. Ranch replaces Granary, adding 2 Production on top of the normal Granary's Food bonus. It still adds +1 Food to Bananas, Deer, and Wheat, but also adds +1 Food to Cattle, Horses, and Sheep. Additionally, it requires Animal Husbandry rather than Pottery. This gives faster construction and increases the value of more resources, which makes panel purchasing much more important for America.

  • Minuteman's free Drill 1 promotion was replaced with an identical promotion called Guerrilla. Free Drill 1 was wasted when upgrading experienced Longswordsmen or if you had Alhambra. This new promotion is added so Minutemen are always better at rough-terrain combat.

  • America's trait and the Angkor Wat wonder have been reverted to earlier patch values. America gold cost reduction to purchase panels is back to -75% and Angkor Wat is again -50% culture cost for border growth with no gold cost modifier.

  • America has been given a river start bias.

An update for the Ranch to work with Brave New World is available here.
A stand-alone version of the Guerrilla promotion for Minuteman is available here.

This isn't the version for Brave New World. I link to that in the description.

I really like the mod. After 154 turns I found that (unless intended) Ranch doesn't allow internal trade routes for food. Small thing but I figured I should mention it.
Great work so far!

Yes, because this isn't BNW compatible. Versions for Brave New World exist, so use those instead.

As soon as I started using this mod, I was unable to send caravans between my own cities =(.

Good point. That was added by a patch well after this came out, but this mod and the standalone for just that change both will remove that promotion from the Minuteman. I'll correct that now and upload new versions of both mods.

I love this mod my only suggestion would be to leave the "Golden age for victories" upgrade on the Minutemen troops as well.

so having technology from the 15 hundreds and up at a few thousand years BC really makes sense...
