HT-Superdragon-mk4

It's been some time since I've tinkered with the Dragon. The mark 3 remained my go to small vessel, spawning it as soon as I can in game. I really loved the ship. It was time for an update though.

The Dragon is cheap to make and is so much better than a starter ship or prefab. It is an all around great little ship. It has great flight characteristics and packs enough firepower that I had no issues dealing with POIs, I even used a modified version in pvp on occasion.
With the game reaching 6.0, there have been a lot changes to game mechanics and new blocks and devices added. I felt it was about time I did an update to the venerable mk3.

So what's new with the fourth iteration of the Dragon? Well if your an owner of the mark 3 the first thing you will notice is the new cockpit. This cockpit, like the previous is low profile but has a more aggressive look. Also with legacy cockpit there were some issues with pilots taking damage that they should have been protected from. This new cockpit required some changes to the nose.

With the new control panel in the game, refueling and rearming has never been easier. With this being the case I've removed the access doors to the fuel and ammo. This allowed for options in device placement. The mk4 Dragon's dimensions are same as the mk3's.

The biggest differences is what's on the inside, beneath it's hardened steel skin. The internals had a full rework. I ripped it's guts out and somewhere in it all I was able to add 6 more engines, another generator and fuel tank with out loss. The ship is slightly heavier, two tons, but you'd never notice it and there is a bit more performance in strafing and acceleration and deceleration which is ideal for POI raiding. There is slight decrease in RCS performance due to the added weight but I don't think its noticeable. The ship's handling is still very responsive.

The SuperDragon comes stock with 4 gatling cannons and 2 missile launchers, this loadout works well against drones, and it was the choice for keeping the build cost down. I suggest switching them out to railguns, but any weapon you prefer works just fine.

I hope you like the new SuperDragon, its a great little ship that remains my favorite. This ship works, it reliable and fun to fly. Our ships aren't art projects. They are meant to be used and abused. So give it a try, you've got nothing to lose.
