Every theme park needs an observation tower!

The Sky Tower is an iconic structure which dominates New Zealand’s Auckland City skyline. It stands at 328 meters, and is the tallest structure in the southern hemisphere (23rd in the world). The Sky Tower is both an observation and telecommunications tower containing five publicly accessible levels – The Sky Lounge (50), The Observation Deck (51), Orbit 360° Dining (52), The Sugar Club restaurant (53), and The Sky Deck (60) – and is the site of two thrill seeker attractions; the SkyWalk and the SkyJump. The Sky Tower attracts approximately 420,000 visitors every year.

This Planet Coaster replica of the Sky Tower is absolutely huge, at almost double the height of the ‘Screaminator’. Due to its size and the number of pieces it contains (8305), the tower has been split into 3 blueprints. Unfortunately this means that there will be some lining up to be done by anyone who wishes to place it in their park. The way each piece fits together is quite self-explanatory, but to avoid confusion I have added red caps to each seam (these go end-to-end).

The ground entrance to this replica is improvised, as the real Sky Tower entrance is at a higher point on the tower, and is accessed via the adjacent Hotel and Casino complex. The lighting on this replica emulates one of the many lighting patterns used at the Sky Tower – All of the lights (except the four floodlights under the ground) are exposed so that you can easily change the colour scheme.
