Senusret III (c. 1878-1860 BCE) was perhaps the most powerful king of the Egyptian Middle Kingdom whose reign was so prosperous he was deified in his lifetime. Senusret III is considered the model for the legend of Sesostris, the great Egyptian Pharaoh who, according to Herodotus, campaigned in and colonized Europe and, according to Diodorus Siculus, conquered the entire known world. Senusret III is the best candidate as basis for Sesostris as his reign is marked by military expansion into Nubia and an increase in wealth and power for Egypt.

Senusret III

Leader Ability: Fortress of Buhen - The Encampment district and its buildings also provide Great Merchant Points. When built next to a river, Encampment districts provide a free Melee or Ranged unit every 30 turns (on Standard).

Agenda: Appearing like the Souls of Re - Likes civilizations with many wonders and a strong army. Dislikes decadent civilizations with many wonders but no army.

Note that this leader is not animated.

Never noticed how big his ears were until he showed up in my game

2 Questions and 1 Suggestion. Q1: When the Encampment if 1st completed, does it spawn one of those free units? Q2: What percentage chance is it Melee or Ranged, 50-50, or does it start with one and then alternated back and forth? S: Instead of Melee and Ranged units for free, what about Heavy Cav instead? Same as if it were a Meteor Strike 'goodie' reward and it would fit with the Civ's base-unique unit the Chariot. (To fully balance it, because they will not have maintenance or strat resource costs, (so i assume,) maybe the free units stop after you research the Tank at Combustion...)

Look forward to your reply.

Haven't seen it mentioned but do not try to use him with YnAMP. The true start location is set to a two tile island with no way to do move off it (due to not having the tech), no way to move your warrior (not having the tech) and no way to get the tech necessary because, again, you only have two tiles to work.

My only issue is that I don't think his ears are big enough

You guys are spending too much time on this topic.Technically Egyptians are African so if you really want an answer just place them into that general category and do not bother to go further in it. In the ancient world various empires had various kinds of people. In Ancient Egypt it would be hard to ague that such a pale individual could lead a precolonial African empire but hey whatever floats your boat.

I can't seem to get him to show up in the leader select screen, and I wonder if it might have to do with this not being updated for GS. I know about placing <CompatibleVersions>2.0</CompatibleVersions> in the .modinfo file, but this doesn't seem to fix the issue for me.

My views on Egyptian skin tones can be seen on the previous page: there was a rather lengthy discussion. I've tried my best to match the modern copts: their historical language was a direct descendant of Ancient Egyptian (today it remains their liturgical language).

That said, Egypt was absurdly diverse, given the amount of trade between the Levant, Egypt and Nubia.

who is this pasty white man in the time period where neither greek nor arab has set foot in Egypt?

If you want a pasty white man, atleast pick something after 500 BC.
