MORE NATIONS AND NAMES 1.2

Integration of More Nations Mod 1.0 by Astograph and Immersive Names 1.4 by DaggaRoosta.

Vanilla/Legacy version. Long War 2 compatible. War of the Chosen version can be found here: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1124284135

This is a REPLACEMENT MOD, not a patch. Please UNSUBSCRIBE/UNINSTALL any prior version of More Nations Mod or Immersive Names before using.

You should be able to replace either component mod with this mod in the middle of a saved campaign. Removing More Nations or Immersive Names will cause the game to post a red warning before loading; you can ignore this and proceed safely. If you're on Steam and want to get rid of the red message, please use the Remove Missing Mods mod.

What is More Nations and Names?

It's a combination of mods that affect the generation of randomized characters, which include soldiers, engineers, scientists, mission VIPs, and in Long War 2, haven personnel:

* More Nations Mod: Adds 166 nationalities and flags, most with their own custom namelists.

* Immersive Names: Improves the name generation of the vanilla nationalities with much larger namelists, accurate ethnic representation, and adjusted name frequencies.

These mods didn't play well together. So with Astograph's permission I combined them.

The original mods both tried to adjust the same country weights, i.e., how often characters come from certain countries. The vanilla countries will appear most often in this version, but you'll still see a bunch of characters from minor countries every game.

Assembled by DaggaRoosta with permission from Astograph. Permissions for use for this mod's assets do not extend past permissions given in either component mod.

VERSION 1.2 CHANGELOG:

* Added country localization:
+ All country names should show up correctly if playing the game in English, French, German, Spanish or Italian
+ Character names will still be the same as in previous versions

* I ditched the UK in favor of having characters from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland instead. Not trying to curry favor with UKIP fans, just trying to resolve the bizarre decision by Firaxis to have the UK and Scotland separately represented. Should be safe with existing savegames, the UK assets are all still there, but you won't draw new UK characters anymore


VERSION 1.1 CHANGELOG:

* Reworked Russian ethnic namelists to eliminate clearly non-Russian ethnic names

* Changed the overall balance of default languages among both vanilla and added nations to create more variability of languages encountered during gameplay, using the most popular in-game language where possible

* Small changes: removed and replaced duplicates in Estonian namelists, moved Morocco from East African group to North African group and replaced with Kenya

May I suggest that this mod includes as one of its countries the Sovereign Military Order of Malta?

Though not exactly a country, it is closely analogous to one: The SMOM maintains embassies, enters into treaties and issues its own passports, coins and postage stamps. Unlike more dubious characters (Novorosdiya, Transnistria, etc.) it even has permanent representation at the UN.

This looks like an excellent mod for one of my favourite games, and I hope you'd consider making this small change. Thank you for your time and effort!

(P.S. for names, I'd suggest a combination of what there are for German, Hungarian and Italian, but with a bias towards "noble" surnames, i.e. "von such-and-such", "de such-and-such).

@WhiteBoiPapi not only is Canada in the mod, it's fully ethnically representative, with unique namelists for White Protestants, Quebecois, Canadian Black, Indigenous, and recent immigrant communities, pulled from province birth records

@ChezRichard This is the vanilla (non-WotC) version of the mod, so you might want to check that you're using the right version. The link to the WotC version is listed in the description.

If that isn't the issue, since you've ruled out mod conflicts and tried restarting, the last thing to do is check the mod list in your launcher/mod manager and make sure it's selected for the version of the game you're playing. Beyond that I dunno. Good luck!

Hi, I subscribed to the mod, but I don't get more nationalities. This is the only mod I have so far and I play the base game. Is there anything else beside subscribing that I need to do?
I've also restarted my PC which didn't help.

@Soupidity nah, this mod doesn't affect armour. Just names and flags. I play with Calmer Colors mods, and I don't get the hot pink rookies. So maybe try that.
