More Planets

Description
Current Status
Starbound 1.3 broke this mod, so it probably won't work right (at least according to the comments, below; I've not even been playing Starbound lately). However, it would seem there are mods out there to enlarge the navigation window or adjust it's zoom level that do help with this issue, so you'll probably want to use one of those along with this mod.

Also, please read the comments before complaining and demanding that I fix this mod. Solutions are available. You just have to look for a mod to pair with this one.

About This Mod
This tiny mod makes these changes:
* Increases the chances of each planetary orbit being filled in vanilla star systems.
* Increases the chances of each gas giant orbit being filled.
* Increases the maximum number of moons around gas giants to 6 (I would have gone higher, but Starbound crashes).
* Adds a 90% chance of either an asteroid field or a barren world on the outskirts of every vanilla star system. When there is this addition to the outskirts of the system, 95% of the time it will be an asteroid field.

Personally, I think these little changes make for more realistic star systems. The chances of planets spawning have been increased from 25%-50% up to 50%-75%, depending on the orbit in question (middle orbits have smaller chances for planets).

You will, of course, have to either wipe your current universe or explore a new area of the one you've got to see any of the effects of this mod. It only affects newly generated star systems.

Note: The images were captured with the Celestials - Cosmos mod installed, which is why the gas giant is so pretty.

This mod should work fine with mods that simply add new planet types. It will also give the extra moons around gas giants when combined with TrueSpace or Unigen. The extra orbit with the asteroid field or barren world will not appear when UniGen's Starclasses sub-mod is installed. It also works with Frackin' Universe, giving vanilla star systems more planets, an asteroid field/barren world on the outskirts and gives more gas giant moons in general.

However, I should emphasize that this is designed to increase the number of planets around vanilla star types only (gas giants should get more moons regardless of system type). If a mod adds new star types to the game, those systems will not see any increases in planets. On the other hand, every mod I've examined that adds new system types is using roughly the same chances for filled orbits that I used in this mod.

Common Issues
First, in general, I caution against using mods whose last update is prior to July 22, 2016 (the release date for Starbound 1.0). These will be mods that were compatible with one of the Beta versions and probably aren't any more. For those that use nexusmods.com for Starbound, many of the mods there are quite old and abandoned, so please check the date before you install. I've already seen at least two complaints that I can quite likely trace to this.

So, please check the dates on your mods before reporting bugs. If you've got something super old, there's likely nothing I can do for you except to suggest removing the super old mod.

How to Report Bugs
Please post a complete copy of your Starbound log file to pastebin.com (no account required) and share the link in the comments section, below, along with a detailed explanation of what's going wrong. If you're unwilling or unable to do this, then I really can't help you to get the mod working. I cannot determine the root cause of the error in question without being able to reproduce it. I cannot do that without the log file.

A Word on Friend Requests
I'll preface this by saying I'm really not trying to offend anyone. I'm just being a little blunt, okay? Folks, I don't know you from Adam, so please stop sending me friend requests just because I made a mod you like. It's nice that you like the mod, but that doesn't make us friends. I only add/invite people once I'm sure I know enough about them to consider them an actual, real friend. Which is why my friends list is only 4 people.

A Word on Feature Requests
Do NOT make feature requests of me in the comments. This is a complete project that I'm not working on. It's here for you to use and even build on if you want to modify it to suit your own needs. I'm not going to customize it for you, because everyone wants something different. So, respectfully, please stop asking me to. Please look into modding Starbound and do it yourself, which is what I've said every time I've been asked.

@viv you might've already tested it, but yes, you can delete this without issue - stars generated with the mod will still function and be there, just generate some new stars and you're good to go
