Crynsos' Faction Unlocker+ Submod: More building slots

Description
The PCBSO survey is up! Please help me improve this mod by taking part in it[docs.google.com]
Last updated: 10th September 2017
This is an addon mod for Crynsos' Faction Unlocker+ which integrates Province Capital Building Slot Overhaul into his mod. Many thanks to Crynsos for making this possible!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

You require Crynsos' Faction Unlocker+ and at least one of the mods from this collection to properly use this one, depending on which factions you want to play in Single Player. All factions will be available for Multiplayer no matter which one you pick. You can freely mix and match them or even make your own selection! (How to make your own faction selection...)

Quick overview:
  • 8 slots for all province capitals, including the Season of Revelation mini-campaign
  • 10 slots for unique province capitals (Altdorf, Castle Drakenhof, Karaz-a-Karak...)
  • 12 slots for Wood Elf capitals in Athel Loren
  • More building slots for Norscan capitals and Wood Elf outposts built in province capitals
  • No DLC required, built for Crynsos' Faction Unlocker+ and his collection of faction packs. Not compatible with Legendary Lord Unique Start Position, use this instead.

  • Clan Angrund, Crooked Moon, Empire Secessionists, Mousillon, Red Fangs, the main Vampire Counts faction and the Von Carsteins will relocate their capitals when their supposed capital is retaken

  • Compensates a little for the AI's strange decision-making regarding city infrastructure. (e.g. two more slots to build a forge necessary for advanced units)

                                                             Important:
  • Do not activate my original PCBSO mod at the same time as this one

  • Remember that building slots are only shown as locked when they can be made available via the next settlement tier upgrade. All of the others slots will still show up as empty squares. See the pictures to know how it should look ingame.

  • Additional building slots only affect new campaigns! (this is how the game works, sorry) No additional slots within the Beastmen Eye for an Eye campaign, as editing this campaign's startpos file is bugged since the Bretonnia release.

  • Edits startpos.esf (some other mods do this too) and campaign_building_chain_slot_unlocks_tables (very few mods do this)

  • Compatibility rules for Crynsos' Faction Unlocker+ apply

The changes in detail:

- Maximum number of building slots in all province capitals from 6 to 8
- Number of building slots unlocked per province capital tier increased from 1 to 2
- Minor settlements are not affected
- Altdorf, Black Crag, Castle Drakenhof, Couronne, Karak Eight Peaks, Karaz-a-Karak, Kislev and Miragliano have their maximum number of slots increased from 6 to 10
- Factions not in posession of their original capital at game start will relocate their capital accordingly when the original one is retaken. See this for more info.

Extra rules apply in the following cases:
Wood Elf settlements (King's Glade, Crag Halls, Waterfall Palace and Vaul's Anvil)
- maximum number of slots from 10 to 12
- number of slots unlocked per settlement tier from 2 to 3

Changes to Wood Elf outposts:
- 0 additional slots in minor settlements (still two slots in total)
- 1 additional slot in province capitals (now three slots in total)
- 2 additional slots in unique capitals (now four slots in total)

Changes to Norscan settlements and unique outposts:
- Norscan major settlements now unlock 2 slots per settlement tier instead of just 1
- Graeling Moot, Bjornling's Gathering, Varg Camp, Aesling's Conclave, Sarl Encampment and Baersonling's Camp are now bigger Norscan camps with a maximum number of 6 slots instead of 4
- Icedrake Fjord has been upgraded from 8 to 10 maximum slots by popular demand
- Norscan factions may now utilize up to 10 building slots in occupied unique capitals instead of 6

FAQ:

Why doesn't this effect minor settlements at all?
I've experimented with increasing slots in minor settlements and sadly, it seems to require a total overhaul of the province system currently used in the game.
Each minor settlement would need to be separated from its parent province and put into a newly created province and become its province capital.
It can be done, but not without massive changes to the campaign map and a lot of additional tweaks to prevent a great amount of other stuff from tilting out of balance.
The few Norscan settlements that gain two slots using this mod are actually hidden province capitals, so I managed to edit them safely.

I getcha. I'll go looking for the mods I got with the PFM to find the ones that edit the startpos and use DAVE to add more slots to them to see what's what. Might require a fair bit of cross-referencing to find which one is causing the issue, though. But I'll have my epic Tilea campaign yet!

I'm not sure anymore, but I think GCCM only modifies battle maps and not the campaign map itself? I could be wrong though. Don't know about Radious right now.
Currently, this submod and its main mod work in the way they are intended to work.
Unfortunately, due to how the game works, you can only have one campaign map file at a time.
To update it, Crynsos and I have to consolidate all of our files and then add some changes to them for the sake of compatibility. We really want to avoid doing this unless Creative Assembly decides to change the Warhammer I campaign map again.
So I can't just add any small tweaks to this mod on the fly, it's always "leave it as it is" or "redo the whole thing"

I can't seem to get it to work with GCCM or Radious, sadly and I imagine it would be too intensive to try and make them compatible
Especially for an outdated version of the game

@Nerube: It's tedious to figure this out on your own, which is why I've tried to explain it in my guide. The link is right above this comment section under "Further reading"

Quick changes can also be performed by editing the startpos.esf file directly using (R)PFM, which is somewhat annoying to do and I don't have good instructions available for that right now. I remember writing a lengthy comment about this somewhere, but can't find it at the moment.

Would it be difficult to increase the number of added slots from the user side? I curranty use Ax's Super Urbanization (More Slots) when im not using a faction unlocker just because I like a relaxed game (Yea I know its over the top) But it would be cool to be able to change the number of slots I want based on the difficulty of game I want and how many choices I want to make for building cohesion. Thanks for making such an incredibly needed mod!

@AceOfCaydes: Yes, it can't work for campaigns in progress I'm afraid :/

Forget what I said
Turns out it doesn't work for campaigns already in progress

It's acting weird for me
I downloaded it but it didn't give me 8 slots, however, it gave my capital 4 building slots unlocked at level 2. (Still only 6 building slots available) And when upgrading it to level 3 all slots were unlocked. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so did you find a way to fix it?

Ok so, taking your words for granted, i tried deleting all my mods 1 by 1 then grabbing unlocker + submod + this submod wich didnt fix my problem, however deleting all mods + fresh install of the game as fixed it. Guess my problem was something strictly related to my pc. Works like a charm now )
