Description
Part of The North Atlantic: a series of mods centered on the cultures of the northern Atlantic coasts and circumpolar region.

Playing a civ that isn't Catholic Spain? Maybe you're a fan of the many mods out there adding North Atlantic and Circumpolar cultures (CL's Inuits, Wabanaki, Greenland, Senshi's Siberian civs, JFD's Iceland, Lithuania, and The Germans, to name a few) and just want a little more flavor in that direction?

This mod is very simple. It replaces all Missionaries and Inquisitors with Shamans and Priests. Shaman design is based on images of Siberian and Fennoscandic shamans and the Priest unit is based on depictions of Norse pagan godhis. Units come with custom icons, unit flags, and text, and otherwise work exactly like the units they replace. Great for scenarios about the Viking Age, the sack of Rome, the Great Migration, or if you're just after a change of scenery in your religion game. Should be compatible with any mod that doesn't do the exact same thing.

Credits:
Shaman unit flag and drum skin design derived from Tomatekh's Witran Mapu religion icon from the Historical Religions mod series.

Other mods from The North Atlantic:
The Boatbuilders (Viking Age Naval Overhaul)
Ancient Era Buildings (Thule, Sami, and Norse buildings)

Very interesting mod!
A similar idea was in Civilisation 4, where each religion had its own, unique missionary, church and religious wonder of the world (Great Temple I think it was called). It would be interesting to see such a thing with all religions in the 5th part, not just with shamans

I tried your solution and it still doesn't show up for me. I would love to play this mod but for now I just can't.

To Lord Funk Jr. and anyone else having issues installing this mod, I apologize for dropping support for it years ago. The issue is because, at the time I made it, I unknowingly compressed the files in a format Civ 5 doesn't recognize. I never caught the issue myself because I always manually installed mods, which in my experience improves mod load and cuts down on bugs. This method also lets you use mods only available elsewhere than Steam, like Civfanatics and Nexusmods.

Anyway, it's pretty simple to install a Steam mod "by hand". First, download it manually (google "steam workshop downloader" and enter the link to this mod). Once you've done that, you can extract the file to your Mods folder using 7zip. It should load on starting a new game of Civ.

The mod does not show up in the mod list any idea why?

I'm having the same issue and I have a LOT of mods so I don't want to clear my cache because it takes all frakkin' day to reload them. Any way for a direct download as they aren't even sowing up in my Mod Folder to be manually installed?

@Renlav Hello there, i recently subscribed to all three of your north atlantic mods, however they arent showing up in the mods list in the game, any idea as to why this would be happening? Thanks in advance.

@Renlav - thanks! It's definitely NOT for anything like that. A user on the civfanatics.com website requested a "wizard" unit mod be added to the game. To help out, I developed a design for the wizard that has different artwork for each era, but I was missing some cool "shaman" art for Ancient. This build has it nailed down. Appreciate it!

@S-Man, Thanks and definitely! (as long as it isn't some Neo-Nazi bulls***) I have all the new assets in the mods I'm working on applied globally, but I think their true final resting place should be as uniques for custom civs and scenarios, so I'm glad to see people wanting to use my stuff in their own work. I'd love to hear more about the mod.

@Renlav - What a nice looking mod. I have a need for a similar looking unit in a small mod I'm working on. Would you allow me to re-use the unit artwork? Thanks!
